It's Strange that you'd call something a "gimmick" show.
the "Gimmick" of any show was to get people to want to watch them! I can't remember a TV show in the last 50 years that didn't try to have a gimmick. All TV has Gimmicks. This is just another 60s show!
sidelines: I agree with you..I look at this as one of the "gimmick" shows of the late 1960's..like Munsters, Addams Family, etc..That might have lasted 3 seasons tops if Miss Sheridan hadnt passed away..Not to say that was bad at all..I like what little I've seen of this show..
Pistols And Petticoats Was Joe Connelly And Bob Mosher's First TV Series In Color On CBS On Friday Nights At 8 PM Its Competition ABC's TAMMY And NBC's Second Half Of DANIEL BOONE When Younger Viewers Got Home On Friday Night At 7 PM From School Dances And Dates At 7:30 PM They Watched Daniel Boone On Fridays
Pistols And Petticoats Was Joe Connelly And Bob Mosher's First TV Series In 1965 Was In Color From The Start On CBS On Friday Nights At 8 PM In September 1965 And In Color From The Start It Compeited With ABC's TAMMY And NBC's Second Half Of DANIEL BOONE On Friday Nights When Young People Got Home From School Dances And Dates In Time To Watch The Flintstones On ABC Or Daniel Boone On NBC Or The Smothers Brothers Show On CBS At 7:30 PM Then At 8 PM Tammy On ABC Or Pistols And Petticoats On CBS
All you need to do is watch "Torrid Zone," "The Man Who Came to Dinner," "The Opposite Sex," and even as a panelist on "To Tell the Truth" to see how good and how intelligent she really was. Great talent badly misused.
This could been as long-lasting a series as Joe Connelly & Bob Mosher's "THE MUNSTERS". But what did it in was its competition- NBC's "GET SMART" and ABC's "THE LAWRENCE WELK SHOW". And Ann's unexpected death at the end of the season didn't help, either...

This was a short-lived and much loved show. Would really like to see another episode.
