I'm planning a large C&O layout as well, so this definitely whets my appetite! I have two questions: 1) What type of sound decoder is installed in that locomotive? 2) What technique do you use to weather your steamers? They look beautiful!
Ralph - this is a freinds layout. don't know his weathering technique but suspect it with diluted paints as per model magazines. he does use the new Tsunami sound decoders from Soundtraxx
The cars are all Rivarossi with the exception of the Pennsylvania sleeper. Its a new Walthers. The Rivarossi cars have all been kitbashed, a la Bill Darnabys articles in Model Railroader that appeared about ten years ago.
How wonderful. I rode this train many times with my Mother from DC to Ronceverte, WV. to visit my grandmother. I have never forgotten it. I plan to ride it again now that I have found it.

Sweet thanks for the information, I remember seeing this layout in an episode of Model Railroader and it's a very nice layout.

Hey ownry, who makes that C&O Greenbrier? I've always wanted one in HO scale

The Greenbriar was made by Overland Limited. I got this from the layout owner.

this is beautiful. I love how the wide screen feature adds to this. Is there any way to get some steady shots of this layout?

Yes, I could do steady shots. only issue is i have to use a tripod and I couldn't because I was driving the engine while shooting the train-

I applaud you for not crashing the train, and getting decent shots.

Nice! What scale is this?
