  • Some great history here! Thanks Woody!

  • EmpEntTV you are right! Those old guard rails were real killers. I hit the one atCarlsbad and I thought I was going ballistic like what Goose said in TopGun. I thought for sure I was going up and over but hit that thing when the car got out of shape then bounced to the rear quarter panel. Did all the body work and paint and back in commission in a week. Whew!!

  • Bill, Scary? Naw just you more room to move around 8-)

  • Nice. The car I used to drive is in this clip, a blue 1957 Corvette with a 4 on the side.

  • @ddguild1 How cool is that---ie; seeing a car you used to drive from "way back when."

    Glad you enjoyed the movie.

  • Good job # 1

  • I am loving it MrPLW. I had to put my thinking cap on this one. Old Ramona dragstrip up in the high country. Just look at the history of this vid captured by Bob Kiefer and you'll still see some detroit iron still on the track today. Loving the early funny car novas out there with their altered wheelbase. I believe they opened this track in 1963 and then good old Carlsbad Raceway opened in 1964. Both are shut down now and they do have Barona 1/8 mile dragstrip. Thanks again MrPLW!! Ron

  • @bills7974 You're welcome, Ron----and thanks for the additional comments/input on Ramona, Carlsbad, and some of the cars that raced there.

  • @bills7974 Thanks for the info on the track, I had never seen any photos of film of this track before. That guard rail, or lack there of, sure looks a bit scary!
