Having the aptitude for a high IQ and knowing what a certain signature from the 17th century should look like are two entirely different forms of intelligence. One requires processing and calculating, while the other is simple memorization.
I say this because for some of those odd items, seems odd for a guy that works in a pawn shop all day to have such a deep knowledge about. I'm sure the guy is smart, but editing and google play their part for some of that odd stuf.

first let me just say that i have watched every single freaking episode at least 2 times...lol love the show, next time im in vegas i'll definitely go there. @dirtydeedz161 I think the History Channel makes Chumlee act dumber than he is for the cameras. In a lot of videos on YouTube, he seems to be fairly knowledgeable about the shop. Granted, out of the four Pawn Stars main people (The Old Man, Rick, Corey and Chumlee), Chum is the dumbest, but considering how much all the others know, that doesn't necessarily mean he's an idiot.

@oooshitman9 people don't have to sell them anything lol. They aren't the only pawn shop in vegas, plus they are pretty reasonable. They can't sell anything at auction or retail price, they have to sell it around 75% of that, sometimes 50 depending on the condition. So they have to buy it at 25-40% to make money, especially because the item stays on the shelf for months. If they want full price, go on craigslist or ebay and stop being lazy

From a business stand point I doubt they will get an expert in there and have the customer present when the expert gives the value on items. I think it makes more sense to keep customer somewhat in the dark on true value.

Rick does gives people breaks ever now and then. Cory does it a lot off the screen. Hell! Cory somewhat frequently gives people $10 for shit worth nothing. This is the History Channel and what we our seeing is the friendly version. If you saw their pitch tape or if you ever went their you would see a darker but more compassionate side.

Rick does gives people breaks ever now and then. Cory does it a lot off the screen. Hell! Cory somewhat frequently gives people $10 for shit worth nothing. This is the History Channel and what we our seeing is the friendly version. If you saw their pitch tape or if you ever went their you would see a darker but more compassionate side.

I have known for a while that some of the best deals going can be found at pawn shops- these guys have just taken it to a new level- I would be proud to work with any of'em!

as long as they pay me-exactamundo-this chump at work just called me-he's doing a "call out"-they pay 50 bucks per call out, if you're there 20 minutes or 2 hours-this asshole calls me and asks me how to run my machine, i told him bullshit, i'll come down there and do it for the 50 bucks-he said The Walking boss dont want nobody down there except him-i said then you better ask him, because I aint telling you shit man, you gotta pay me for my knowledge and time

Great show guys. I wish it were on as much as cash cabs. Chumley was he named after the cartoon series with Tenn T. Exelent show. I enjoy it..
