yeh, they went thru this more ordinary reggae phase didnt they? did they ever recover from it and get back into their proper trippy psychedelic stuff again?
In the beginning was the word and the word was with Jah and that the word was Jah. In the beginning Jah created the heaven and the earth, then created man as his own likeness, and gave unto man his knowledge and understanding...
This RoX,One of my girlfriends Kellie says African Head Charge at the Ministry CH CH NZ was the best gig she'd been to and tho' she hasn't spoken to me since I agree
Mmm, what a surprise. I've got 'Off the beaten track'-record, but this is something else. I like the old- school AHC more, very mysterious, dubby and hypnotic, and this song is not very special.
The "Awkwaaba" album (1996) surely incorporates a more traditional song-structure, and is a little repetitive. Nonetheless, AHC benefitted from a little more melody and structure, which can be found in "In Pursuit of Shashamane Land", which I consider the best album, with the wonderful song "Heading to Glory".
@piccic all of the early albums were more interesting, songs of praise, shashamane land, shrunken heads. hope they get back to that. trad reggae aint why i would go to see them.
Roooots!! AHC very tuff ensemble! (They're making a new album since many years, "Music from psychedelic Africa" or something like that). The leader is living in Gabon now...

I tend to think I prefer them in the middle.

Great video. I got to see AHC in 2005 and 2006 in Tokyo, they still rock the house.
