one player cannot win a championship dallas wins super bowl 30 without deion jerry rice was asked if SF needed deion to repeat as champions rice became angry when he was asked this question.
He took out a very good Pitt WR by the name of Yancey Thigpen.
He was a big play WR on everyone but Deion and would have been huge in a game Pitt only trailed by 3 with 4 minutes to play.
Pitt WR Mills blew out his ACL in 4th and wansn't on the field on the 2nd O'Donnel pick, Hastings just dropped a 1st down due to a sore collar bone and Deion was on Thigpin.
Put a reg CB on Thigpin and O'Donnel is much more settled the whole game and last drive.
2. Bradshaw was a great quarterback. He called his ow plays, he was tough, he threw the long ball, he could run. Montana and Brady may be better, more precise field generals (albeit in different eras), but 4-0 in Super Bowls speaks for itself. He was a winner.
All great but only Staubach played with the same rules that Bradshaw played with. And didn't Bradshaw win all the big games against Staubach?? I seriously doubt all the others you mentioned would even come close to the numbers they put up without the glorified arena football rules that the nfl insists on having, to increase scoring. again, bradshaw was superman and he WON 4 SUPERBOWLS IN 6 YEARS WHEN IT WAS TOUGH TO PLAY QB!!! who else on your list did that?? hint...nobody. bradshaw-superman!
He threw 212 touchdowns and 210 INTERCEPTIONS over his career!! His rating NEVER went over 100 until his last year in the NFL in 1983. Then, he only threw 8 passes. How is that at reading the defenders and defenses?
the nfl qb rating system is just a dumb tool so that espn can fill a whole week talking about something other than wins and losses during a whole week. i'm glad that it wasn't discussed at all in the 70's and most of the 80's. the key factor in that rating is interceptions....it has no bearing on wins and losses. bradshaw could do it all. type in "pittsburgh steelers of the 70's" on youtube, sit back, relax, and soak in the genius that was terry bradshaw. you'll be amazed.
"A tree stump can win four rings when he has a defense full of hall of famers, two great running backs and two HOF wide recievers, a real QB would have won 6 or 7 straight titles with that team"
before super bowl xiii, in the local pittsburgh newspaper, a reporter asked mean joe greene what he thought pittsburgh's chances were like. his reply was.."it all depends on how far bradshaw takes us." they weren't hall of famers going into these games. bradshaw was the catalyst.
They were hall of famers. If they werent, they wouldnt be in there. The stats about his interception to touchdown ratio is important because it proves he wasnt good at reading defenses. The fact is, he had a full team of hall of famers. The Cowboys are the most successful franchise in NFL history.
They have won 5 Super Bowls and 8 Conference Championships. The Cowboys have more victories on Monday Night Football than any other NFL team. They hold NFL records for the most consecutive winning seasons. Most seasons with at least 10 wins. The team has earned the most post-season appearances. The most appearances in the NFC Championship Game, and the most Super Bowl appearances, two more than any other NFL team. They became the first team in NFL history to win 3 Super Bowls in just 4 years.
Bradshaw (and he hall of fame steelers) beat the cowboys, Bradshaw can't hold Montana's Jock- Montana is near QB perfection, Bradshaw had 2 HOF receivers and has horrible Numbers. ARogers knows what hes saying. Any moron knows he is a run of the mill QB on a team full of All-Stars. He's a cocky, bad sport- and has had as much talent as hes had hair on his head. Never make the mistake of saying Bradshaw is a successful QB, he never achieved more than anyone else he played with. HE IS NOT AN MVP
Dude the Steelers won 4 Super Bowls in 6 years and won back to back Super Bowls Twice, neither has been done before or since.
They produced 10 HOF guys from one era, 4 Defense, 5 offense and the head Coach.
Dallas was very fortunate in SB XXX that O'Donnel didn't realize that Larry Brown was totlaly confused on both ints, other wise your '90's dynasty would have never happened.
On both plays the WR Brown was covering was wide open either down the middle or the sideline for TDs
If Jimmy Johnson had stayed in Dallas, we would have won 4 straight and possibly more. You look at the Steelers of the 70's with all the HOF players, how many Cowboys from the 90's dynasty are in the HOF? 2? Yeah, because we are a great TEAM! SB XXX was no luck. O'Donnel sucked.
Keep dremain' when the 49ers signed Deion to cover Irvin no one was going to beat them and when Dallas signed Dion to cover Rice, same result.
If Deion stays in San Fran in '95 San Fran repeats and Dallas loses in the NFC title game agasin becasue San Fran would have never lost to GB with Deion.
Technically 3. Emmitt Smith is as good as in. You're right, though, there should be more. Like, say... Charles Haley... Deion Sanders (Who will PROBABLY go in as a Falcon, but he was still a Cowboy, during the Dynasty)... Kevin Smith, maybe... Darren Woodson... Ken Norton... The list could go on, and on, and on...
You're wrong, Bradshaw called his own plays and for every great catch by Swann and Stallworth, there are even more perfectly thrown passes by Terry with laser sharp accuracey on the deep ball.
Swann and Stallworth were not the only guys Bradshaw threw to.
He threw to WRs Ron Shanklin, Frank Lewis, Jim Smith, Theo Bell and TEs Randy Grossmann, Benny Cunningham and Larry Brown.
No SB QB ever threw the Deep ball as well as Terry, Not Brady, Montana, Elway, Staubach NO ONE!
Staubach never played defense. Bradshaw might have beat Mel Renfro, Cliff Harris, Too Tall Jones, Randy White, Charlie Waters, and Hollywood Henderson, but technically, he never really "beat" Staubach (Who, by the way, played 3 years less, and took a 7-year break between his college and Pro careers to join the navy), who probably would have put up better numbers had he played even an extra two years, let alone seven.
I never said he wasn't. I'm saying it wasn't Staubach's fault that the Steelers won those games, and that it doesn't make him any less of a Quarterback. I'm saying Bradshaw beat up the Cowboys' defense, but he never beat Staubach.
You make it sound as if they were blowouts. The fact is, in every game they matched up for, both teams were always one or two prolific plays away from a whole different ballgame.
Say what you want about the Cowboys, but at least neither Romo, or Staubach goes around riding motorbikes without helmets, playing bargain-basement football in superbowls, and raping girls.
Sound like anyone presently on the Steelers roster?
It was in response to the fact that the implication was being made that Bradshaw beat Staubach directly.
He beat Too Tall Jones, Randy White, Cliff Harris, and the rest of the doomsday defense, but he never directly did anything to affect how Staubach played in the Superbowl.
For someone who's so fond of saying "That's what I thought", you sure don't do much in the way of thinking, do you?
Wow. That's it, right there. Nothing I can say to that.
You really are a credit to your (Mostly bandwagon) fellow Steelers fans, you know that?
If only most people argued football as well as you did, or were intelligent enough to write "That's what I thought", before finding out what the other guy has to say, under the assumption that your logic is bulletproof.
Just kidding.
Seriously, though... I think you manage to single-handedly bring down the average IQ of the whole Squeelers fanbase :)
First, you try to say that it wasn't Staubach's fault the Crygirls lost SB 9 & 14, then point-out that both gamnes were "one or two prolific plays away from a whole different ballgame", conveniently over-looking the fact that Bradshaw MADE those prolific plays, while Staubach didn't
Next, you bring up "Romo", and "raping girls", neither of which have ANYTHING to do with Terry Bradshaw:
Romo has never played in a Super Bowl yet (according my logic), while the girl Roethlisberger (again, having nothing to do with Terry Bradshaw) is accused of raping has made several allegations in the past regarding affairs that never happened, and refuses to press legal charges against Roethlisberger, only civil-charges, where she can get financial reward... you KNOW that, correct?
I never said ALL fans were bandwagoners. I said many of the team's fans are bandwagoners. That's what success does. The same could be said about New England, Minnesota, or Dallas (I can admit that much). Also, if you look at the replays, Lynn Swan, or John Stallworth, or Franco Harris made those prolific plays, primarily. Bradshaw had a PART in it, but he wasn't the reason these plays went off. Also, I admit the part about Big Ben raping girls was irrelevant.
A tree stump can win four rings when he has a defense full of hall of famers, two great running backs and two HOF wide recievers, a real QB would have won 6 or 7 straight titles with that team
