It's basically a new version of New Deal economics. Spending will keep people in jobs which will help sustain the economy near it's current level. Since this spending is temporary (unlike those Bush tax-cuts) we can begin re-cooping it once the economy has bounced back.

My common sense "little voice" tells me that the course we are currently on will be a disaster. How is it possible anyone could endorse spending money you don't have and will not have in the near future? Using one credit card to make the payments on another credit card is stupid, no other word for it. And as to why these "educated" people follow this plan is a mystery to me. I know quite a few people with degrees who don't have the sense to get out of the rain...go figure.

Let me explain something to you:
The government doesn't operate in the same way that people do. Pretending like they do is ignorant. Keeping people in jobs keeps money in the economy. This money is spent which creates liquidity in the market as well as generates tax revenue for the government.
Letting the economy fail was not an option and judging by unemployment numbers and the stock market we may have already made the turn out of this recession.

A possible outcome of this hoped for upward trend may just be a long period of hyperinflation which would likely spell decades of further disastrous results. I didn't put my faith in the last administration, nor will I trust this one.

Yes it should and it was before Bush. However there are times to do this and it's not when the economy is down. Cutting spending now would only create more job losses and a further deepening of the crisis.
It's basically a new version of New Deal economics. Spending will keep people in jobs which will help sustain the economy near it's current level. Since this spending is temporary (unlike those Bush tax-cuts) we can begin re-cooping it once the economy has bounced back.

The regulations designed to force banks to lend to unqualified buyers (the practice known as NINJA loans, or No Income No Job No Assets) were forced upon the banks first by LBJ and then Carter nd vastl expanded upon by the Clinton administration.
