@deffjamfrank - they didn't break up. They are still standing strong, and touring the county. But they are still underground. But if they keep coming out with songs like this it won't take long for them to get noticed ;p

This ban could have made it big. I was extremely upset when I found out she left. I personaly would have gone to everyone of the concerts that I could make it to and buy all of there cd's. I'm still upset at what happened, I was really into this band.
As far as simliarites with Paramore go I only see them with the instrumentals, and the fact they have an extremely talented female vocalist. That´s where they end, in my mind. Oh, and the fact I love them both :D

This little Youtube comment thingy doesn't let you make very long comments, does it? :) The way I see it, the bands that groups like us grew up listening to were earlier Green Day albums, old Fat Wreck Chords bands, etc., not current ones, so it's a mishmosh of influences, not just one or two groups. And to the folks that said the intro reminded them of Helena by MCR, I can hear it a little, but the intro chord progression we got from Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven, and slowed & tweaked it. :)
A little? Don't get me wrong, I think you guys are (were) an incredibly catchy band, but almost the entire structure of the song is identical. Intro, with sparse guitar picking. Four 16th note snare hits into the verse, which contrasts against the intro so with a straight, four on the floor, punk feel. Chorus kicks into half-time, with splash hits every beat. Repeat. It's dead on.
Well, if you consider that dead on, then you could also consider about 1,400 other punk-esque songs in D minor to follow a similar measure/bar/bpm/mode, etc. It just matters what touch you add that makes it your own. If you think in pure structural terms, then yes, about 50% of ALL punk-ish songs have heaps in common. We wrote that song with no regard for Helena, but rather Moonlight Sonata, so if it sounds similar, then it's just dumb luck (depending on whether or not you like Helena!! :)
Unfortunately for ourselves and MCR-types, we aren't blessed with musical genius, but rather do the best we can w/ what we know. MCR are of similar age, & I assume they listened to some of the same punk records we did growing up, so that kind of similarity, although unintentional, is just part of incorporating what you have into what you've grown up with. I'm sure ALL our songs have some analogue somewhere in the world, that's just the way this genre goes. And hey, at least it turned out ok. :)
Just out of curiousity (and this is Keith from new year's day asking, just to be honest here), what are these similarities between us and ETF that some people are mentioning? I can only see that both bands are rock n' roll in one type or another, with distorted guitars and an edgy sound. So why, out of ALL bands out there to compare to, is ETF so close? Nothing against them at allll, it's just a curiosity I guess. By the way, there's a GIRL singing, not a guy screaming half the time!! :)
yea dude i dont get it... Both bands are crazy awesome and have totally unique sounds. People do this to a bunch of bands i listen to .. they compare them but ive never listened to a band that had the exact sound as another band. you wouldnt be too famous if you didnt bring something different and something totally yourself.

@riplivewire Thanks for the comment. I understand what you mean completely. As for new projects, I'm writing with some friends over here in Stockholm, but I'm not sure when or if we'll record them. Even though it's still one of the biggest passions in my life, I just don't know if I have the time to track the songs and do the production necessary to make the EQ's sound decent. The reason I left the band, to make a long story short, is because I just lost the enthusiasm for the touring life!!

Just listen to both structures of the songs, Helena, and My Dear
They both have the same aspects of the structure.
Both open with a melodic soft tone, then suddenly break into a driving octave strum with the same drum rhythm...
then they both go into a chorus(of course) and you can actually match up the chorus of My Dear, to Helena... like you can sing the chorus over it.
I wouldnt sayripoff, but I think MCR was a big inspiration

People do this to a bunch of bands i listen to .. they compare them but ive never listened to a band that had the exact sound as another band. you wouldnt be too famous if you didnt bring something different and something totally yourself.

@NewYearsDay Because this generation can only work by comparing two totaly different bands to provoke a response, that and most of them are just tone death and seem to think if it's a female singer they are copying of paramore, hell i remember seeing someone trying to compare Marilyn Manson and lady gaga. @NewYearsDay Haha you have to consider the age and overall knowledge of music and genres of the people comparing u to ETF, Hey Monday, Paramore, etc. You all play great music, but all have something different. I would suggest not reading too much into the comments people post on your videos. :)

@riplivewire Thanks for the comment. I understand what you mean completely. As for new projects, I'm writing with some friends over here in Stockholm, but I'm not sure when or if we'll record them. Even though it's still one of the biggest passions in my life, I just don't know if I have the time to track the songs and do the production necessary to make the EQ's sound decent. The reason I left the band, to make a long story short, is because I just lost the enthusiasm for the touring life!!

this does kinda sound like etf. i think escape the fate started a new genre. lol. i mean theres modern day escape, these guys, get scared, and whoever else. whatever this new sound/genre is that etf made, its fuckin awesome.

yeah there was no reason they had to change their sound so drastically. my friend says craig is really good with the old stuff live. so they could've still been good with craig if they kept the sound. and the lyrics... max wrote the lyrics when ronnie was there. for some reason they let craig write em this time. who the hell thought "if i let it go, if i let this go, if i let you go was better than max's lyrics.

haha. i hate all that internet drama queen crap. i dont know why ppl get on here trying to make enemies. yeah hes pretty good. but somethings just not right w the new stuff. it seems like they really rushd the songwriting process. if you look at the tabs for some riffs you can tell. like the something intro. and i thnk the lyrics wouldve been better had they not thought them up on the spot. i wouldve been alot happier listening to an awesome record coming out late then a bad one they rushed.
