Should I get a Electronic drum kit? I already have a acoustic kit and have been playing it for a year now, I am good and I play in a band, I don't have much money so what would be the cheapest option?
@obamagriffin u can find better electronic kit than this with lower price :) dont buy it ! i did that mistake when i started learning the drums and i really hate this kit :/
@obamagriffin It really depends. If you're playing live then I'd go with acoustic any day, simply because of the stage presence and the simple fact that there's just something about them that E-kits can't quite capture. E-Kits are mostly great for just mucking around, being able to practice without neighbours hearing you and having a variety of kits at your fingertip.
this kit got a MIDI-out, can i use a midi to usb cable and hook it up to my macbookpro and use mayby Garageband to change the sounds of the kit... since i dont like the preset kits that are on it..
Johnny Rabb is a perfect example, that it takes individual ability, talent and experience to be good in something. It's never the equipment or hardware used.
To all those people who think buying the most expensive stuff will make them great.
Check out my video for a demo of all the sounds available on the roland hd-1 and if you like my playing let me know if you want me to do a cover :) im open to suggestions. let me know what you think guys :)
I'm a guitarist, but I'm thinking about getting myself a budget digital drum set like this. Not too crazy about the built-in sounds, though. But I have EZ drummer (which I believe has better sounds) software on my computer, can you hook up this Roland set to that, turn of the built-in sounds and use the sounds from EZ drummer instead? And will there be any sound delay if you do this?
Can I plug my ipod into this and hear it and the drums through headphones cause were gonna move into a townhouse and i founf this set really cheap on ebay
Roland has plastic sounds - just use the pads to control your addictive drums or ez drummer software. roland only uses 4 to 6 different samples per pad/interument. samplers like the above use 10 times more. the result: real sounding drums and no machine-gun effects. believe me. I used a roland td-10 for 10 years and it NEVER sounded real. NEVER. you can't use it for recordings. but these 250 Euro softwares are the real deal.
should i buy this? im a beginner, just played the guitar over years. is this a good kit for beginners? pls answer :) and are 600 euro ok for this one?
@TheTehalon it's good to start when i started drumming i bought a Medili dd 501 i was realy excited about it but after a year i wanted another drumset and now i bought the yamaha dtxpress so its a good drum set to begin but the medili dd 501 is cheaper it doesn't sounds better than the roland hd1
@osemekeugbo999 hd1 has only 2-3 cool drum kits, and that is all! you can play voices for fun but after a 5 minutes you get bored. it will be better roland to choose 10 real drum kits and this is the reason to pick the td4
i will however say this...DON"T BUY THE MONITOR... i mean i still have it and it works and all but just use an amp..you will need a connector piece. the monitor they recommend gets loud, but i wanted to go louder so don't buy it
@pajamaloaf dude thats fuckin bullshit, im beyond just a casual drummer and i have one of these that i do some serious rock'n out to often...its sturdy because its roland, its great for apartments, its the cheapest of its kind, and you can very easily add sound kits to it, you just might be to damn stupid to figure it out...this is not a kit for beginners its a kit for those who don't want to shell out 3 grand for a higher end set. had it for 2 years and play it just as hard as an acoustic
@kevdigs930 i disagree. you will never become good at the bass drum with out a actual pedal. You have to practice on a real pedal. secondly, the toms arn't very adjust able. They are horribly placed. if u pay alittle more u can get the 400$ one. it is like a 100000000x better improvement.
@kevdigs930 It's impossible to add your own sounds to it or anything short of TD9 or 10 (can't remember). You can CUSTOMISE your own drumkit using any of the preset samples, but no new sounds without purchasing a new brain.
i have this drumkit, and since i bought it, one and a half year ago, my life has changed. me and my friends now get together to make music many more times than in ten years with a real drumkit. it's not as nice as the real drums, but the fact that it fits any car's trunk, and doesn't torture anyone's hearing makes for it. and now, i bought a alesis dm4 drum module, and got them together: my frankenstein eletronic drumkit is way bigger than my real one!! nice!

Can I hook this up to my laptop and rewire it through Superior Drummer? Also can the pads be put up in height? I am a tall guy and probably need everything just a little bit higher.
I've had this drum set for 2 years now and its brilliant for beginners like I was when I bought it, it's a 1 piece set so its effectively out of the box play.
