You can see every time he fights against better fighters than him he actually learns something from them. if Marquez wouldn't have fought Mayweather he would've probably lost to Pacquiao in this last fight. I had it 116-112 Marquez, & even then I thought I was being kind to Pacquiao. Pacquiao should have lost on their 2nd fight as punch stats shows, but Pacquiao seemed to have landed the harder shots and that's why he won. Same in their 3rd fight. The punch stats had Manny winning, but didn't perform to expectations and Marquez did better than what most people thought. That's where many people got blinded. Well, it's boxing so that's the way it is in your sport. No disrespect to the sport but there's too much politics and bullshit.

From what i've seen 90% of title fights are given to the champion in close fights throughout history so i'm not surprised that give it to PAC. I have the fight a draw but it could of gone either way.
Well, at first i watched the fight with English commentators (Khan included) and they had Marquez win clearly. Then i watched the HBO version and it was a different fight! I think that most of us are a little inexperienced in judging fights so i watched the fight one more time, in mute! I had it 115-113 for Marquez because he landed the cleaner, crisper shots. @nirdla0822 pacquiao did land more punches, but he also missed more punches. the missing of these punches is a testament to Marquez defense. Marquez landed less but he also missed less, he landed more of the punches he thrown which is testament to His offense, and shows you how bad pacquiao could defend against marquez. If a fighter throws less punches then you, you should be able to defend it with ease, and if you throw more punches then him, you should be able to have good offense.
@88Christianson Pac did fight JMM fight but JMM couldn't capitalize on it convincingly. Look at the compubox punch stats...JMM only had 3% accuracy superior to PAC..that's low for his low output. Why is it that judges have come to heavily fighters who have a high punch output and who come forward, ignoring aspects of accuracy, clean and effective punching (Paul Williams for example)? And that carrys more weight considering it's a title fight and pac is the champion. However, he was counterpounching more so than their last 2 fights. I am impressed that he did fine, but I wanted more action.

I wouldn't say marquez performed well either. He did have more clean shots but he was mainly pot shoting and hardly damaged pacquiao. Case in point, it was just an ok fight. JMM didn't do enough

Marquez was the reason Manny lost, not because of the leg cramps, foot stepping, bad game-plan, or whatever other excuses can be made. Manny is a great fighter, even in this poor performance of his, its still by all accounts a great one. But then again, who didn't wanna see Mayweather vs. Pacquiao? i surely didn't wanna miss out

I hate to admit it, but Pacquiao's win wasn't very convincing. Hell, the third fight was boring and lifeless compared to the previous two fights, no doubt about that. I agree that Marques landed more clean, hard shots, but Manny was the aggressor throughout the match and he landed more punches than Marquez did. Maybe Manny is scared to lose now, that's why he fights safe/soft. I don't think Manny will win against Gayweather. Maybe Pacman should retire now while he's still ahead.
Marquez WON everyone knows that, the problem was the beats 8-2 favor to Pacquiado a few millions dlls on gamble... It's all about the money, even Manny knew that he lost that fight if you see the end of the fight you can tell by body-language, he's eyes with a deep scare (what is weird to see on Manny Pacquiado, I like Manny don't give me wrong he's good, but HE LOST that FIGHT)..
I was rooting for Pacquiao the whole fight but Marquez really made Pacquiao look terrible. Marquez just moved back a little bit whenever Pacquiao comes in and counters him beautifully. Obviously Marquez landed the more effective punches but given the fact that Pacman is the champ and the aggressor, that maybe the reason why he got the nod. After watching the fight I EXPECTED Marquez to win, but I WANTED Pacquiao to win. After this fight, i'm doubtful if pacman can win against floyd. :(

At first I thought Marquez won by one point then I watched it again without audio. Lo and behold I got it the other way. This Pac vs Marquez is like an illusion of boxing. What a great fight by two of the most bravest warriors of the sport. Their styles will always be debatable and will always be a good learning experience for the good of boxing.

I counted the score at the end of round 12 and the results are below.

Marquez clearly won the foot stomping challenge. I believe PAC now when he said to Freddie Roach that he feels like he is flying in the air on the fight and he has cramps, it is because Marquez is beating PACS right foot and Marquez is standing on PACS right foot. OUCH that hurts. MArquez gained more weight to put pressure on PACS foot everytime he steps on it. What a loser.
Guys this is insane. I can't believe what I just saw. The ultimate technique of Marquez's trainer was not to neutralize PACS offense but to neutralize his footwork and movements. Videos don't lie . Sometimes we mimic ourselves from these boxers that we love. To the point that we can feel every punch that lands on our Champ. Pacquiao should have lost on their 2nd fight as punch stats shows, but Pacquiao seemed to have landed the harder shots and that's why he won. Same in their 3rd fight. The punch stats had Manny winning, but didn't perform to expectations and Marquez did better than what most people thought. That's where many people got blinded. Well, it's boxing so that's the way it is in your sport. No disrespect to the sport but there's too much politics and bullshit.

From what i've seen 90% of title fights are given to the champion in close fights throughout history so i'm not surprised that give it to PAC. I have the fight a draw but it could of gone either way.

Well, at first i watched the fight with English commentators (Khan included) and they had Marquez win clearly. Then i watched the HBO version and it was a different fight! I think that most of us are a little inexperienced in judging fights so i watched the fight one more time, in mute! I had it 115-113 for Marquez because he landed the cleaner, crisper shots. It's like you say at 11:57, punches that land but barely touch may count in compubox but they don't make a difference. Good video BigRagu

Pacquiao also stepped on Marquez and yes there are videos of this. Pacquiao did not complain about it after the fight. Roach did not bring it up and he was watching the fight ringside. The main problem why many people thinks that Marquez really schooled and defeated pacquiao is because they think of Boxing only as a sport. Marquez landed less but he also missed less, he landed more of the punches he thrown which is testament to His offense, and shows you how bad pacquiao could defend against marquez. If a fighter throws less punches then you, you should be able to defend it with ease, and if you throw more punches then him, you should be able to have good offense.

Why is it that judges have come to heavily fighters who have a high punch output and who come forward, ignoring aspects of accuracy, clean and effective punching (Paul Williams for example)? And that carrys more weight considering it's a title fight and pac is the champion. It was a mis-judged fight, and even you would say so by saying this fight was "not won clearly". So you can't bring up the judges anymore. Boxing is decided on the overall effectiveness of a fighter, Pac performed poorly while Marquez performed superbly, on all fronts, both Offensive and Defensive. Again, Marquez was the true winner of this fight.

I blame that partly for his camp's more emphasis on counterpunching which made the fight less thrilling than usual. Again, that doesn't automatically give JMM a win. I hate to admit it, but Pacquiao's win wasn't very convincing. Hell, the third fight was boring and lifeless compared to the previous two fights, no doubt about that. I agree that Marques landed more clean, hard shots, but Manny was the aggressor throughout the match and he landed more punches than Marquez did. Maybe Manny is scared to lose now, that's why he fights safe/soft. I don't think Manny will win against Gayweather. Maybe Pacman should retire now while he's still ahead.

I was rooting for Pacquiao the whole fight but Marquez really made Pacquiao look terrible. Marquez just moved back a little bit whenever Pacquiao comes in and counters him beautifully. Obviously Marquez landed the more effective punches but given the fact that Pacman is the champ and the aggressor, that maybe the reason why he got the nod. After watching the fight I EXPECTED Marquez to win, but I WANTED Pacquiao to win. After this fight, i'm doubtful if pacman can win against floyd. :(

I counted the score at the end of round 12 and the results are below.

Marquez clearly won the foot stomping challenge. I believe PAC now when he said to Freddie Roach that he feels like he is flying in the air on the fight and he has cramps, it is because Marquez is beating PACS right foot and Marquez is standing on PACS right foot. If superman could defeat all the Villains in the world, Is he still a superman or just a man. Who will need superman then. If MArquez could defeat the WAPACMAN in the ring, does anyone think MArquez will be contented with Bradley, Rios or Khan as his next opponent after defeating PAC? MArquez and the WAPACMAN are the Yin and Yang, The Batman and the Joker, The Bruce lee and the Chuck Norris . They despise each other yet their fists loves each and it is evident on the way they hit each other.

Marquez will always lose to PAC everytime they meet in the ring. As the saying goes, there are things that are beautiful because one cannot possess them. It will be the end of MArquez if he wins against PAC. Marquez only lives to improve his craft even better each day and he doesn't want to defeat PAC. Marquez is not aware that he loves fighting PAC. He's loving every moment that he lands a shot at PAC and every moment that PAC hits him. That's the whole nine yards.

@NixxerJixxerWixxer From the sound of your accusations against HBO, I can feel that Boxing is not in your heart.. It saddens me to know that you have been watching Boxing maybe all your life or maybe not but you have not learned anything at all. I guess when you watch movies, you go into to the middle scene and then you go straight into the ending. Then you generalize things based on what you saw. Boxing is a life and not some random things. It takes years to understand and to love boxing.

@MrPunchout2011 I am telling the truth, The whole HBO crew never questioned the decision, They even blamed Nacho and Marquez' lack of initiative to take over the fight going thru the penultimate rounds...I had Marquez winning by a Razor-thin margin, but because Pacquiao was the aggressor, I scored it a DRAW.
HBO needs Pacquiao and the millions that he brings, nuff said, They were biased the whole evening towards Manny,one word, CONSPIRACY

From its definition, a “challenger” is the one obliged to engage, test and breach the Bastille of the Champion he wants to overthrow. Hence, Marquez, the challenger, should’ve been the one engaging Manny Pacquiao. The role of the belligerent was with him, not with Pacquiao. But it was Pacquiao who initiated most of the exchanges.
Marquez, the boxer, may seem to have won the match. But Marquez should know that if he doesn't knocked Pacquiao down, he cannot clearly win that match.
