  • I was told by someone to check this out as a joke obviously & I will say this - IT IS THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING I HAVE EVER SEEN OR HEARD IN MY LIFE...

  • @JacquesZupp That guy is my dad.

  • cool song! after all these years have past, i still jam this song when it comes out on the radio...

  • the singer is so good looking

  • great video i love this song it's oldie but goodie!

  • What about freezing your cubes and then throwing them in the blender?

  • I wonder what the hot girl in the blue bikini looks like now?

  • <<<<<<<<<<<<Had sex with Nick in 1983 while in california. Yes, BIG things do come in small packages. I was saying, I yay yay yay yay yay yay yay!

  • where is my vaseline

  • WTF

  • Hard to be in a bad mood when this song/video came on. Nick Heyward is adorable.

  • Haircut 100 is the definition of 80s msuic, fun and never get tired of it!

    Thanks 4 the memories!

  • i had a fckn blast in the 80s

  • begininng is gay, esp the clarinet.

  • @tulllguy thats the best part!

  • @tulllguy It's actually a soprano sax.

  • @blktenor ok then

  • @tulllguy So do you think it's still gay? I mean it's the instrument Kenny G plays. Oh wait scratch that. I'm not helping my case here am I lol

  • @blktenor bad choice of words on my part, but I still think it's 80's cheese.

  • @tulllguy o ok lol.

  • sorry...saw this band live too..paid for the tics & took a gorgeous frog ;- What an asshole

  • Nice, high quality video without damn advertising

  • I remember this song like was yesterday, please lord send me Back to the 80' please God.

  • I remember this song like was yesterday, please lord send me Back to the 80' please God.

  • Got to love those cheesy early 1980's videos!

  • a Straight Classic 80"s

  • Love this video reminds me of my college years.

  • I wonder why they don't play this video on VH1 Classic anymore.

  • Nick in a loin cloth :)))

  • @pattyken1 I know! He was CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love Pelican West but this vid is SO bad, thats the 80s )

  • How is it that people were 70 times cooler and more fun in the 80's? Maybe it was because they was no myspace/facebook and you actually had a personality. MTV was about music back then with the occasional real world episode thrown in.

  • @nothing5630 ha ha your statement is extremely inaccurate.People have been fake since the dawn of time, modern technology just makes it easier.

  • @nothing5630 There was no "real world episode thrown in" back in the early 80's when this was on MTV. But, we did get to sit through hours of Aldo Nova, Asia, Jefferson Starship, STYX, Journey, Rush, Fleetwood Mac, Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet (UGH!!!!) waiting for a Haircut 100 song. Occasionally they'd toss us New Wavers some Bow Wow Wow and Adam Ant and Pretenders. I don't know if we were "cooler", but we were definitely more fun--and didn't call everything we don't like "gay"...

  • @nauort23 MTV & the 80's ruined the state of music period...

  • Fucking shit.... and I'm from London born in 1975 so stop talking out of your arseholes, this is the fucking shithouse productions. Wake up you clowns

  • @TheCarpetG Look out !!... Simon Cowell has got a Youtube account going by the name of TheCarpetGimp.

  • all of the band members got back together in June 2004 to do a show as part of the VH1 series, "Bands Reunited"

it was funny to see Nick (the lead singer) trying to remember the lyrics to some of their songs during a quick rehearsal a day or two before the show; I guess he hadn't sung them @ all since he left the group for his solo career

all of them except for one looked like they had aged pretty well

  • isn't there a version that doesn't have a xylophone and is a little faster? I hear it at work all the time.

  • Comment removed

  • @cinsana88 yeah, I hear it @ my work, too: I think it's an in-concert recording of the song

  • The xylophone guy looks like he could have fit right in with Spandau Ballet.

Excellent song and a serious dose of the 80's.

  • IT IS DAVID SPADE ON LEAD VOCALS ,HA HA ,AWESOME SONG THEIR ONLY SONG THAT WAS A HIT,HE ALSO DANCES LIKE CARLTON BANKS

  • @YOUREAPSOW in the US; I believe "Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl)" and "Fantastic Day" were two more songs of theirs that were hits in Great Britain

  • Early MTV tune. They sure put a lot of effort and creativity into videos back in the day! Great song.

  • the 80's................ FUCK YEAH !

  • they play this song at my job haha, we crack up with the ay ay ay ah....

  • The drummer looks like Keenan Ivory Wayans..lol.

  • Wow... where to begin.... can you get your pants any higher? um the boots too... . Good song though.

  • Ive always loved this song but I forgot about the dude on the xylophone, can he get his pants any higher??

  • Nice volcano, man.

  • I miss the 80"s!!!!! WHHHHAAAAH!

  • @karenrph99 agreed i miss it too

  • yeah there will no be nothing like 80's again what a shame !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @drexmistyca900 There's no way to know that. 50's-good. 60's-okay. 70's-better. 80's-great. 90's-iffy. 00's-crap. We still have 10's to turn things around. :) I have a little hope.

  • @drexmistyca900

sure there will. and even better.

  • @drexmistyca900 What a shame your joking me right? The 80's were everything that was wrong with music... MTV pushed crap like this that would have never ever seen the light of day in the 70's when you actually had to play good music to get recognition... I can't even begin to count the number of crap bands that came out in the 80's the numbers are just to staggering to imagine... Kaja Goo Goo this band here, I could go on & on god it's hilarious... you can keep your 80's crap...

  • He wa sso cute back then Lucky old Patsy Kensit!!!!

Not so lucky when she married that ape Liam Gallagher though!!!! He can't alk proper words, he just swears!!!!!!

  • If you like this song, get some sort of copy of the album "Pelican West" (which this song is from).

Even though this was their only song ever played a lot on the radio in the US, the "Pelican West" album has A LOT of other good songs.

I got a "Pelican West: extended" album 4 years ago and they had a real good sound, some good lyrics, and they actually rocked out hard on a couple of the songs!

(I know, you wouldn't expect it after seeing this video.)

  • he looks just liek jorma from hot rod

  • ay ey ey ey ey ey

ay ey ey ey ey ey ey ey ey

  • heard this in safeway supermarket. it had an updated sound but had the same singer. was hard to hear with all the shelf stockers making noise.

  • I absolutely love this song! I was a little kid when this song came out. I'm 39 now!

  • Comment removed

  • I LOVE this song!!!!b :D

  • conneticut preppy look? great song? what a combination, it's still in my regular playlist..

  • even these guys make the current scene look like shit, which it is without or without haircut 100

  • I love this song and this album.

  • nice clip

  • i love the preppy band look

  • Hahahahahaaaa!

  • Why are they wearing sweaters next to a volcano?

  • kindoflike cooking bacon naked..best to wear a sweater..

  • excellent point !!

  • Because it's a freezing volcano

  • Could be the climate changing ? OR the airline lost their luggage? or they were drinking a lot and it lowered their core body temperature?

  • @TableAvocado Cause they're famous

  • Famous? Not exactly. They only had one U.S. hit and broke up after two albums.

  • the bass player from this band inspired me in part to take up bass...back then hc100 were famous because they were ALL over mtv i was there and i saw it...there is a interesting thinkg on here (Youtube) called bands reunited haircut 100 check it out:)

  • That's actually one of my favourites.

  • great feel good song, video is a bit corny

  • I'd forgotten how much fun this song is. Nick Heyward = 100% Adorkable

  • "Adorkable" is the perfect description!

  • insanely catchy, earwormy tune. was always fond of this one, and i think it holds up nicely more than 25 (!!) years later. the skeleton get-ups dancing around the cauldron slay me. this is so totally from the early, humble, low-to-no-tech beginnings of the music video that typically featured lip-synching mugging for the camera. big fun here.

  • I love the saxophone part :)

  • Amazing that Heyward would just leave the band after the success the debut record had. Had they done another with him as lead, they were probably set for some success. And to leave for an obscure solo career? Doesn't make much sense to me.

  • 1:5 JOOOOJOJOJOOOOO

  • Niiiicceee....!!

  • I see direct influences today from Haircut 100. Like Vampire Weekend with their disarming preppy charm and pop melodies.

  • Awesome song and skeleton costumes!!!!

  • this guy looks like David Spade! Nonetheless, it's funny how you realize that not one song in pop culture these days comes close to the perfection of this...

  • aye ayy ya ya :D <3

  • It's a good song. What most people don't seem to know though is that most good music takes time to appreciate, It took me more than one listen to like this song and it took me over a month to really like my #1 band. You gotta listen with an open mind.

  • The song ended, and I let out a sigh. Wish all music was this catchy and nice. Sure brings back memories. Thanks for posting!

  • damn i miss the 80's.... :o(

pop music, as its so called, no longer exists, and

    hasn't for about 20 yrs.

    what a shame eh.

  • 1:02

"Fuck these guys, I'm outta here."

  • nvr thought i wood say this but nick accualy looks cute at the begining

  • One of my fave songs in the spring/summer of 1982

    Just great fun music

    nothing special but nothing

over complicated and stupid like today

  • just good and fun

  • Comment removed

  • omg how randome but its a good song

  • I agree, it's very random.

  • It's Ferris Bueller's long lost brother! :) Nick Heyward where are you now.

  • Still performing as a solo artist, with occasional reunion gigs. He actually has reunited with the other five members of Haircut 100.

  • :))))))))))))

  • AAAHHHH, a happy song....=)

  • I love the badness of it! One of the WORST videos of the 80's. But at least it's bad in a good way...

  • Awesome New Wave song! One Hit Wonder from 1982. This song really brings me back.....

  • greatest song of all time!

  • Goddamn this song's awesome!

  • haha, i can't believe i 1st heard this happy song on the movie Se7en in '95/96 or so.... kind of a messed up movie!! but it introduced me to this ;-)

  • Check the background at 2:26 - I just LOVE the randomness of this video!!!!

  • I didnt like this song when It was first on MTV. Now I look back on those days and this song takes me back. THE 80's Those were fun times. I'm still not crazy about the song but I'll watch the vid along with that spandau ballet song that I used to hate so much and the pretenders song, etc. What a music snob I was. The stuff I used to want to see then is much worse.

  • A classic. Thanks for posting.

  • i listen to this song at least 1 time a day its time less 4 me all the elements mesh so well it really takes me back

  • sigh... could not remember the name of this group but **love** this song. never saw the video before- it's great fun. thanks for posting!!

  • From the xylophone intro to the warm horn sections; brilliant bass and and what's really missing is the beautiful horn extro. I couldn't ask for a more perfect pop song. Now I'm the summer season. And no one yelps better than Nick Heyward. Oh yeah, I really dig the girl in the cauldron. Mad crush on her when I was but a whelp.

  • don't forget the saxes too!!! i luv that bass line as well... a lot of fun to play :)

  • i wanna teabag these bad boys

  • Brilliant production! These cats really understood their

    place in time.

  • i want to haircut now

  • I forgot how frickin' cute the lead singer was! This was totally in the soundtrack to my life back in the day...

  • Best bass player in the world!

    Class

  • agree!

  • the 80s music was the best.

  • This is a good record. The horns (does anybody hear horns on a record on the radio anymore) and the acoustics of the vocals are awesome

  • very few... only 2 i can think of on the top of my head are The Shins - The Past & Pending, & The Cranberries - You & Me... & those weren't even radio singles. French horn is very underrated/used in rock/pop music...

  • lmao i dont even think i was hatched yet when this song came out! Im 22 now. but i loveeeeee the 80's and the music that came from that time! psychedelic furs anyone?

  • yes! thanks for reminding me. gonna look up some of their vids now!

  • Cute :)

  • Thank you so much for the trip on the way back machine. Love this song!

  • brings back good memorys top song

  • I feel so nostalgic watching this!

  • How deliciously 80s.

  • This song was one of the featured tracks on my K-Tel "The Beat" cassette tape which my sister gave me for Christmas in '82.

  • Had that one on vinyl. All checkered....

  • Love the horns!!!

  • Do...you...smoke...cigarettes?

  • I had to listen to this song at 6am this morning to lift my spirit and man did it work. This song gets you in a good mood no matter how you feel : )

  • Comment removed

  • jeeves on bongos

  • sweet as a nut ! ya ya ya ya yaaaaa

  • Where's my clove cigarettes?

  • actually, not gay enough. as a gay guy who was 18 when this song, hit. I was disappointed to know these guys were

str8. Still love the song though.

  • 100% 80s music!

  • being a kid was fun and now that we get older, life is kind of boring

  • I loved this so much when i was young it brings back some good times :)

  • can wear those kakhis any higher on your waist..hehehe!

  • what a great decade for music the 80's was.

  • Probably one of the fist English 80s pop songs I ever listened to when I was just 10. Fresh, danceable and catchy.

  • I love this song, so nice!

  • good taste

  • Those are from the Fred Mertz clothing line.

  • I love this song so baad and I love Nick Heyward - Tell me why song, specially the remix!!!

  • hahaha bigtime he;s even got the same hair do lmao

  • ha ha ,,this is the lad off the new drug drive advert ,,,,lol,,,ringer,,,,,,,,,,,,,dont drug drive in england with them eyes

  • is that keenan ivory wayans on drums!?

  • It does kind of look like him, haha.

No, it's a guy named Blair Cunningham.

  • ROFLMAO! YES!

  • I love this band-the whole album. I'm also a big Nick Heyward fan, though he's kind of turned into a New Age hippie type, but his best stuff was with these guys, and some of his best solo material features his former bandmates on the recordings.

  • Up until a little while ago, I called this "the Jewish song", 'cos of the "Oy oy oy oy oy oy.... oy oy oy oy oy oy oy oy!" bit! :/

  • you're dumb beyond compare

  • Love it!:-)

  • Ahh...just love this one. Drums kick in at 20 and it's just a blissfull sound. Haircut could really pull it off. Got that vinyl disc rotating on the suspension turntable. It's 1982 and everything is so much better. HC100 really eptomised that beautiful 'Campari Sound' which everyone was talking about back in 82. The masters of this short lived but incredible genre. Haircut brought some class and sophistication to the craze. The other main protagonists were Wham but no where as good as these guys!

  • i played that bassline just today...i have the same bass les nemes does..myine is a lighter color..it was my life time achivement to obtain this bass..and i bought it brand new practically in may from a guy who never played it..but with 3 months of wear on it and playing 14 hours a week AND spending thousands trying to get this sound..im tempted to buy another one..i love haircutt 100 talk about top class and musisanship and they were just kids..most kids today even bass wish cant touch haircutt

  • Loving the soprano sax and bassline!

Also, Nick is a cutie. XD

  • im still confused about thier brass line up..that poor guy with 2 sax's around his neck.! as i said..i loved the bass player for this band les nemes...i heard this when i was probably about 9 years old..but by then i had already heard duran duran and alot of other amazing bands from that era and i wanted to play bass so badly..but my dad being a PHD in music looked down his nose on pop music..so the only way in for me was through orchestra..and at 36 im still playing bass..thanks hiarcutt 100!

  • The older dude in the jungle looks just like "the most interesting man in the world" from the beer commercial...it probably is!

  • It's supposed to be a joke.

  • These guys were great. Their songs were all really "tight". It was a shame they split up after this one album.

  • Lololololololol.......
