  • I was fortunate to see Jacques, Christian and Roland play at York in 1969. Absolutely brilliant, but the highlight was the icy, gallic stare when the English clapped after the first movement of Concerto Italien: should have known better.

  • No puedo conseguir descargar el disco donde está esta composición. Me quiero morir...

  • JACQUES LOUSSIER, TOCANDO A BACH, SE LOS DEJO PARA QUE DUERMAN RICO, BESOS A TODOS!!!!!

  • just brilliant!

  • out of this world..great jazz with modesty to the original..but still beautiful thanks to Bach:)

  • wonderfull, realy. excellent. ty so very much.

  • Super cool. I'd love to hear JL doing his thing on a Hammond B3.

  • Bellissimo... Bravi

  • Happiness is a cigar called Hamlet :)

  • Anyone know who these paintings are by?

  • Easily and by far the very best piece of Jazzed up Bach that he has ever done. JL is a great musician who plays jazz without losing any beauty of the original score. Bravo! TY.

  • Had to reply to that. Yes. Exactly right. Bach, I'm sure, would have been greatly moved by this performance. It's sheer genius as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for such a sensitive posting. Arthur

  • every one knows people only become jazz musicians to avoid telling their parents that they are gay

  • What are you talking? Are you feel allright? I think you have a problem with people who are gay. Do you think someone is interested in listening to such nonsens storys you are telling? ... -.-

  • Don't worry... I blocked him already...

  • This has got to be my favourite jazz rendition of 'Air' by Bach, n J.L.T. is the ultimate virtuoso for this genre.

  • Heard him play this frequently but this rendering is a bit harsh-perhaps it is the acoustics. Orchestral version of this has been my favourite piece of music since I was a child. They tell me it is often chosen for funerals!.! It is an exquisite piece and I enjoy Loussier's version too.

  • OMG, this is divine! Thanks for sharing!

  • It's called Air (aria) "On the G string" after August Wilhelmj. Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major BWV 1068 - II Air is the original composition!

    Enjoy!

  • Wonderful innovation!

  • While I much admire Loussier's jazz interpretations of Bach in general, this one fails because the beauty of "Air on the G string" lies in the simplicity of the melodic line.

  • Agreed. It's like putting a cherry on a delicious cake and claiming you baked it. Kindaaa.

  • genius

  • Ich bekomme Gaensehaut wenn ich dies hoere,

seit meiner Kindheit liebe ich dieses Stueck,

    es bringt soviele Erinnerungen auf!

  • eine schöne, reine Kunst

  • Sorry... I just don´t know where they come from... I will try to upload them so you could pickup from a server... Regards!

  • Thanke you very much!

  • anyone got this as an mp3, original or this version?

  • Yes... I have this song in MP3 (in fact, If I remember correctly, I have two different versions from Loussier) , Just drop me a line if you want it...

  • Thanke you! This music is so beautiful and interesting. I'm writing a thesis about Jaques Loussier play Bach. Could you tell me where this version come from? a record or a concert? And I want to hear the other different vision of this aria from Loussier.

    Thanke you!!

  • It's comes from 'Air on a G string' by Jacques Loussier. Came out in '99. You'll find the details on wikipedia.

  • I used to go to Loussier Trio concerts in Bristol (England) through the 60's and 70's. Pure beauty :) The Air on a G string was most people's introduction to Loussier's music in those days as is was used as background music in a TV advert for Hamlet Cigars. Listen to Toccata and Fugue in D Minor if you can, one of my favorites. Good luck with the Thesis, Lacimimi

  • One of the Best Modern Interpretations of Bach...and especially this piece. Loussier is a Genius! In 1959, man!! :)))

  • That is so simple, sweet and beautiful. I love Bach, but neither cellos nor violins can stand up to this. It is just marvellous.
