Joan: 'I think I've got the Flu' do you need something for it? no just another cigarette and a Brandy should do the job, and of course a warm cup of milk and two asprins. makes my skin crawl watching these two play Mr & Mrs, Mr(Joan).
And people wondered why Joan was the way she was! If I had been her I'd ave punched F**K out of the lil bitch. Her demise at the end of Prisoner waas sad, life had drove her to be like that and as for the prisoners they should have taken the human side of her and left Joan with some happiness!
i know this was a while ago but the way in which their relationship is portrayed is so strange. they don't seem to have a sexual relationship at all! i mean they barely touch and they even speak to each other using formalities was terrie even a lesbian or did she just want the company or something, the whole thing is really weird....
I think they sanitised it nicely for a seven thirty audience. There was a little bit of shoulder-massaging and Terri's "let's go home.... together...." comment, but when it came to showing her in bed, they had to wait for Barry. As for Terri's sexual preferences - she seemed to go for whatever she could get, justifying it by claiming to be "confused". I think her attraction to Joan based on power, so once she showed her softer side, Terri just lost interest.
People really forget just how oppressed gay people were. Also remember this was written at the height of AIDS, it was NOT a good thing to be identified in any way with being gay as until the antiretrovirals of the mid-90s gay people were dropping like flies.
yes but with all due respect that mainly included gay man and hemophiliacs not lesbians. i have seen other television shows and films made around the same time that showed much more affection between same sex couples than this show did, thats all i was sayin
