  • So right WindowsSoftwareDe. Horrible voice, horrible accent

  • anyone have an idea how to get simple directions in android google navigation? I just need turn left... rigt.. and not distances or street names i dont care about the street names, in most cases i have no idea on which street i actually am because there are no signs on the street... and the voice is just extremly annoying, i hate the voice, i want to die if i hear the robotic woman in my phone

  • Muy buen video pero podrian traducirlo al español por que en verdad no entendi nada. Lo que comprendo, son la imagenes que mostro. Gracias

  • Great Asian women for you ***lushfmlk.info***

  • if we could only use this without internet then it would've been much better.. i'm ussing map droyd right now cos i can use it online.. i upload map of entire cali for 10mega bytes.. now i can use my gps offline.. but can't beat google maps with voice navi though hehe

  • is this feature available in the UK???

  • Good job reviewing. 5 stars for this review

  • Where can I download this program ? I can't find it in the android market (I have samsung galaxy S 9000)

  • awesome, this is just what i wanted to see.

  • spell moorpark backwards :D

  • @trevelian23 U have to update to the new android 2.1 update by going to sprint.com

  • I have an HTC Hero that I just bought. It came with Google Maps. Mine does not have navigation and I can not find Google Maps with Navigation anywhere on the Android Market. Where did you get this? Thanks in advance.

  • BTW I have Ntelos.

  • @trevelian23 I believe you need Android 1.6--not sure what version of Android the Hero ships with.

  • @chuongvision

yeah you have to be running 2.0 or higher.

  • Ok I have HTC Hero Build 1.55 / Software Ver 1.55.581.2 / Kernel 2.6.27 / Firmware 1.5 / Im not sure what you need hope these numbers help lol....Im guessing from these numbers Im running Droid ver 1.55?

  • @trevelian23 Mine have sinze upgrading to 2.1 .. you should be able to upgrade your Hero to 2.1 , and then it appears in apks

  • this service is free in uk on some of android devices... i m getting htc desire next month woop woop....

  • is it turn by turn navigation?

  • @esikr Yes, it is turn by turn

  • Do you need to have internet available to use google map navigation?

  • @aznvi3tg4ng Well, you can't activate the Droid phone without paying the $30 a month internet fee. Most smartphones do this. But unlike other phones, since the internet is required, ringtones, gps, tons of apps, and many other things are all free on the Droid.

  • @ZF911

GPS is *not* free on the Droid. Any GPS that has turn by turn on the Droid (or any Droid phone) will require a monthly fee, except for maybe some smaller lesser-known apps. But no, the Droid cannot be used out of the box as a standalone GPS receiver. It will cost monthly on TOP of your regular data plan

  • @z0diacx1 No, there's no extra fee above the regular service plan.

  • @z0diacx1 Out of the box "FREE" - Yes. No extra fee, exactly how chuongvision describes in his video here!!!!

  • @sttrumpet So I could cancel my data plan and still use Googlemaps on the phone? And for your info: Google DOES NOT offer turn-by-turn voice in canada. Only text popups above your dot.

  • @alphadog1x To my knowledge, Verizon requires the data plan to use the Droid on their service.

  • yup, to pull out the map, basic data pack needed

  • @aznvi3tg4ng

yes for the map, gps for the position.

  • @aznvi3tg4ng You do need an active internet connection.

  • very important feature that is much easier just say navigate to " " whatever like navigate to ghetty center and it will pop right to the navigation screen and start navigating without going to a browser

  • BTW, you sound like John Malkovich at times.

  • Can you actually download the maps for navigation? because if you are not on an unlimited data plan I'd imagine? constantly downloading new content as you navigate would eat up a lot of data/money.

    Thanks for the review!

  • You can win Motorola Droid at Gadgetton. com. It's your lucky day! marvellous video...

  • You forgot to mention the coolest part. When you arrive at your destination, a picture of the location will pop up. If you hit the little "person" icon, you will get a street view that you can move around to look at the scene in front of the destination 360 degrees. This won't work with all destinations, but it worked with the car dealership that I went to today.

  • i work for verizon 29.99 is unlimited email and internet ONLY

  • i just got my droid they said on other phones non blackberry and droid you have to pay for navigation but not on droid and blackberry you stay on the basic smartphone

  • and data

  • Wth is that suppose to mean? i have iphone 3gs with att and $29.99 is unlimited data....

  • Great video. Thanks!

  • Wrong. Nav route is cached to memory. Keeps going in the background. No data signal needed. (I own the Droid)

  • is there a data plan for this phone?? and if so how much....

  • Verizon charges $29.99 on top of your voice plan.. it only includes data not messaging.

  • Comment removed

  • @tman120120 according to Verizon Wireless..$29.99 is only for email& internet.

  • great quality video...im so sick of watching idiots fumbling around with the phone in their hands while trying to explain shit lol

  • Is there an offline mode for when you find yourself out of signal and thus the net? If you live in an area where the signal isn't strongest all the time ... you really won't be able to fully trust this fantastic ap.

  • Yes, that is a limitation of all OTA navigation systems like TeleNav, Sprint Nav, AT&T Nav, and VZ Nav. It does cache your trip and you can just view the list of directions if needed, but if you veered off course in an area with no cellular reception area, it cannot re-route you.

  • @lonewulf44 you need 3g and gps to find the route...but it won't turn off in a dead zone, it'll keep guiding you.

  • @lonewulf44 If you have the maps loaded on a wifi or other connection you dont need anything but gps to navigate....atleast on the newest version

  • Hey MrCapn21 screen is capacitive

  • i cant wait to get this phone :)

  • What kind of touch screen is it? Resistive or Compasitive?

  • The touchscreen is a 3.7-inch glass capacitive touchscreen with a 854 X 480 FWVGA resolution.

  • Whoa! I just realised that this narrator is actually a person, and not an automated bot! :O
