I was at these protests.I am a republican and in favor of law and order.What happened in Miami was a crime.People have the right to gather and speak their mind.That is what I thought this country is about.Freedom to express your views and assemble?That was thrown out and trampled on.The police went way overboard and should be prosecuted for their criminal behavior.Although there were some protestors that instigated violence,that is no excuse to go around beating groups of people indiscrimantly.

While I support the right of an officer to defend themselves, this was clearly not the case here. In neither spraying was either of the two officers in any danger. Both times they used their sprays on unarmed members of the public who were not violent or dangerous.

That in my book is assault. Doesn't matter if you wear a uniform or not, you assault someone you should get done for it.

Both those two officers should be sacked and charged with assault.

My viceral reaction to this clip is that I would have been moved to use a tire iron on the back of that so-called "guard's" skull if given the chance. If you watched the video, which i can only assume that you didnt, you will notice two heavily armed police officers walk upto a stationary civilian and spray them with a chemical irritant, which is designed to cause extreme discomfort and pain. Thats assault, without question.

maiku1434 - First of all, the guard sprayed someone who was trying to get home. You would have recognized that if you'd actually paid attention. Second of all, the sidewalk is public property. Thirdly, the guy (not me--again you didn't pay attention) wasn't exactly resisting. He did nothing to merit the guard's attack.

What if I walked up to a police officer and asked him to move, if he resists I will spray an irritant at him. Then is he the person who "wasn't supposed to be there"? Those were police officers. You can't call the police on the police. As a rule, I try to stay away from aggressive police officers. However, sometimes they block the streets so you can't get away and beat you and spray you and shoot you with rubber bullets. I was in Miami that day.
