  • @ 2:16 could have loss lift and crash.

  • @basimpsn The gyro needs at least about 40 km/h of forward speed to maintain altitude. The wind at that day was well above that -- maybe around 60 km/h. So the wind would have had to drop more than 20 km/h, which wasn't going to happen.

Incidentally, there is a certain band of altitude where it's dangerous. Below that and you don't damage the gyro, above that and you have enough altitude to regain speed.

  • What if the wind suddenly stops, will he fall?

  • Yeah, she will. That's why you need to be very careful, be quick on the throttle and keep some extra speed on, at least the amount the speed changes between a gust and a lull.

  • do u need a pilot license to fly this one.. ? or any 2 seater.. and how much did it cost to built this one..?

  • Absolutely great!! I loved it!! Great flying and control.

  • hi, i just want to know is it possible to hover without rely on the head wind?

autogyro needs airspeed to maintain the lift force, right?

  • Yes, a gyro needs to move through the air in order to fly. This particular model I fly starts to hover at wind speeds greater than about 30 km/h.

  • The wind. Anybody must to think that you can do it everydays.

  • Fantastic! Im seriously thinking of learning to fly these MT-03 machines. I have 1700 hours fixed wing so should be reasonably ok to complete in the 30 hours....i think!!

How much does the MT-03 cost, i can find nothing on the net about purchase price without e mailing rotorsport directly

    Thanks

  • so what's the speed over ground if you have a 50 km/hr headwind?

  • Depends on your airspeed, of course. The minimum flying speed at which you can still maintain altitude is about 35-40 km/h. With a 50 km/h headwind you'd be going backwards (as you can see in the video near the beginning).

  • Stimmt.

Deshalb langsam anfangen!

  • Great peice of flying, I gotta get me one of doz.

  • Great control. Wonder what the air speed was. Looks to be at least 30 mph

  • Yeah, you're right. Wind speed was about 50km/h, just a tad over 30 mph. Great fun!
