  • Tofu rocks. I used to steal whole rows of diced pieces off my mom's cutting board when she made soup.

  • Tofu is delicious marinated in just soy sauce, sugar, red pepper flakes, black pepper, chopped green onions and minced garlic! You get the salty, with sweet, and a kick. serve with rice and oh boy that's all you need if you're a vegetarian. ^_^

  • There's nothing tofu does that chicken breast doesn't do about fifty times better. Soy is wretched stuff.

  • @SimuLord Ya...I'd like to see you make that chocolate pie recipe of Alton's with Chicken... :-P I've gotten people who swore they'd never EVER eat tofu to eat that pie...just make sure you are using the right type of tofu! Anything other than silken (TYPE, not brand!), then the pie does not work.

The only thing I change from his recipe is to _thoroughly_ drain the tofu with lots of paper towels, use a regular graham cracker pie shell (instead of the oreo one) and cool for 8 hours instead of 2.

  • @SimuLord I would pay real money (if I had any) to see you eat that pie if it was made from chicken instead of tofu (this coming from an unabashed meat-lover)

  • Is it just me, or does AB say [soui] and not just [soi]? Its like it's a two syllable word when he's expounding on the various "sow-ee" products.

  • Looooove, looooove looooove his' Trekkie-ness.

  • @KuroiandNoukon Genetically modified foods are one that have been modified by injecting genes from animals, viruses and bacteria into the cells nucleus to produce certain traits (in Monsanto's case, a resistance to Round-Up pesticide). Health risks include allergies, new diseases, toxicity, reproductive issues, organ damage, etc.

  • notice how he puts the emphasis on the second syllable of tofu, trying to preserve the japanese pronounciation of an americanized japanese food

  • Where does you soy come from? If Monsanto is involved in any step of your tofu's production (and there is an 80% chance that it is), your soy has been genetically modified...and what will that do you you?

    Food for thought....

  • @Talondas Can you explain to us what does it mean by genetically modified food and does it really cause more harm than good? Just flinging words around doesn't make you right.

  • Tofu is great, IF you can eat it!

Soy is one of the most allergenic foods out there.

    Right up there with Strawberries.

  • I feel like tofu usually gets a bum wrap. Thanks alton

  • Hahaha XD He put eyes and a moustache on the sponge

  • i love the way he says tofu

    toFU

  • LOVE THE SPONGE!!!!

  • lol is it just me or does the guy in the beginning sound like the dude in that tube on the power rangers lol

  • i think he is trying to keep his boat fresh..lol

  • hes so cute lol i love when he was drowning the toy boat :D

  • lol is it just me or did he put the boat in the fridge XD

  • @GrenMoyo

Lol, he's saving the rest for a snack for the sponge later.

  • I love tofu, unless its pretending to be meat.

  • @popcatzoo

Fake meat is gross, tofu is amazing

  • Who comes up with the name?

  • oh no! my favorite pepper sauce is Asian :( I have disgraced you Alton

  • i really like silken tofu more, to me it has a texture almost like custard

  • Acids tenderize meats before cooking?

    Really?

  • sponges rarely (okay never) attack boats

  • but thats no normal sponge (its a super eyed sponge)

  • the nice thing about tofu is that it absorbs flavor.. :D

  • the texture bothers me tho... but i like it in miso soup :)

  • The great thing about tofu isn't the absortion of various flavors, it's showing all the people online that it does :)

  • Poor Tokyo... it can never catch a break from destruction

  • Hello I also have trouble seen this one, I sent an email to the person who uploaded it, without response...

  • is anyone else having buffering problems with this video?

  • is working fine now

  • Yummy. I love Tofu.

    Soysoysoysoysoysoysoysoysoy.

  • wtf he put the boat in the fridge???

  • Yeah thats what I thought, he must want it to last for a week LOL.

i was starting to think I was the only one to see that

  • hes from georgia

try not to andd to ee at soy

    just sound natural jeez

  • Is the emphasis on the 'TO' part, or the 'FU' part.

  • I know of Carolinians who talk of it as "soya". Count your blessings.

  • Yeah?!?, why does he says S-o-y-e-e ?

    Maybe it's because he southern.

But the narrator does it to.

    Weird...

  • I think he is southern.. from what I've heard anyways.

  • Actually, it has nothing to do with him being from the south. It is no different then some one saying patato or potato.

I think that his way is actually suppose to be the correct way but us Americans read it as soy.

  • to be honest he was really born in los angels californis but he lives in gerogia

  • Oh geez relax. Its phoenetical impossible to end a word with a Y sound or for any soft consanant. Don't believe me? Think I am stupid. Record yourself and slow it down. Some people have it more pronounced then others but we all have it.

  • why did he leave the boat in the fridge?

  • thank you so much!!! i dont have time for TV and this is the only show i miss... oh thank you ^_^

  • is "soy" pronounced "so-ee" or "soi"

  • I've never heard anyone pronounce it anything but "soi" before this show.. I still think it's "soi" Maybe it's like caramel..

  • I'm pretty sure it depends on the accent of the speaker.

  • It's soy. Who pronounces it as so-ee?

  • i think its pronounced "soi"

  • Toward the end of this segment, he pulls the tofu out of the paper towel in a different pattern than he put it in originally. == vs. ||||

  • this is my favorite show! :D
