  • I have a quesiton. Is the shipping that the both do of the same type? I could see (some) difference in shipping rates/costs if (for example) one organization is shipping "first class" to a specific individual, and the other is shipping "bulk rate" to "everybody on the base".

  • @MultiSteveB i couldn't say for sure. however, the more i've read over freedom alliance's tax forms, the more obvious it becomes that the high shipping charges are not justified. according to their 2008 return, they only mailed out 5200 care packages, and those were withing the u.s. now compare that to operation gratitude.

  • @cristoballs according to their website:

"Our budget for 2010, to ship 100,000 packages, is $1.5 Million, of which $1.1 Million is postage. Our overall cost per package is $15; the donated contents of each package are worth ~$125."

so for roughly the same amount of postage, they're shipping nearly 20 times as many care packages, and they're delivered to soldiers overseas.

  • Lee is an R-tard idealogue ass hat.

  • I have being listening some of your last videos, here is my question for you.

Are you sure you are a liberal?

  • @JerezJulio i'm socially liberal, fiscally conservative.

  • @cristoballs How do you define 'fiscally conservative'?

  • @eirefrance, i don't believe we should be adding to our spending when we're in debt. yes, i'm aware of republicans and war. but to be honest. obama isn't doing a much better job than republicans in that respect.

  • @cristoballs Well, lowering to our debt isn't necessarily 'fiscally conservative', depending on how you define it, which is why I ask. I think serious tax hikes, especially on the wealthiest, are a must, both for fiscal responsibility (a better term, in my view) and for the social health of the nation.

  • @eirefrance, there's a common misconception, one which i used to believe as well, that raising taxes on the rich will naturally increase tax revenue. the problem with this idea is that it assumes that production remains constant no matter how much you tax. however, when you start limiting how much a person can make over a certain amount, you begin to eliminate their incentive to work. (cont.)

  • @cristoballs also, you have to consider the effects of raising taxes on business profits. the less money that is there, means fewer jobs can be created. this is a horrible thing to do when a country is trying to fight its way out of a recession.

  • @cristoballs Well, after the Laffer Curve based Reagan tax cuts in 1981, Federal Reciepts (in constant dollars) dropped. Again, after the Bush tax cuts, Federal Receipts in constant dollars dropped. So, yes, its isn't always true that raising taxes is a great idea. But we have cut taxes too low, and our increasing debt is far more damaging to our long-term economic health than raising taxes. Cutting spending is important, but its only one half of the equation.

  • @eirefrance as far as i know, tax revenues went up as a result of reagan's and bush's tax cuts. there wasn't such an immediate impact under reagan, but i believe this was in large part due to the fact that the fed reserve was keeping interest rates way too high.

  • @cristoballs Tax policy center

Federal receipts went down in 1981, 82 and 83, then rose again barely until after Bush's famous Read My Lips gaffe. Again in 2001, 2002, 2003 they dropped before starting to rise a tiny bit again. Youtube won't let me cut and paste the url, so I'll message it to you.

  • @cristoballs They went up only if you don't count fro inflation. In constant dollars, they didn't go up. So, perhaps as the economy grew, the receipts grew, but the economic growth brought inflation that lessened the purchasing power of the receipts in comparison to the purchasing power of the private sector. While inflation would have happened anyway, its pretty telling that constant dollar receipts dropped both times. Surely there is a connection.

  • awesome work!

  • @CristoBalls, an other telling issue HTWW has is in his video title "...Conservative Cannibalism". HTWW has bitched about this before, claiming Conservatives must stick together and tow the same line. So much for freedom of speech.

There's another term for opposing "Conservative Cannibalism", it's call "communism". In communism party members must tow the line, freedom of speech is not an option, and so it is in HTWW's ideal corporate imperialist world.

  • @CristoBalls, unlike your thoroughly honest research, HTWW unethically spins whatever supports his case.

    Tim Mak misleds by:

    1. understating postage costs by 36%

    2. quotes old 2006 figures, not accurate 2008 ones

    3. ignores $1.5M in management pay vs. $36k at Op. Gratitude

    4. Ignores the 1:5 salary costs to a few managers vs. 1:315 at Op. Gratitude

    5. ignores the $3.51 postage per $1 package vs. $0.07 Operation Gratitude pays

HTWW should apologize for his lack of research.

  • Someone cheating or not doing their taxes correctly? zomg

they need to end the war. all they would need to do is find a way to get all the enemy troops in one place and have them watch lees videos, then after about 3 minutes when they all pass out from the dull, monotone lifeless geek staring into his webcam, shoot them.

  • @HowDaWorldTwerks How would you keep our soldiers awake? Presumably they'd be there, ready to shoot and able to hear HTWW as well.

And secondly, they'd probably have to get an arabic voice actor to dub his videos, so we run the risk of them becoming hilarious as things are lost or gained in translation.

  • DERP! Phew, it's april fool's day.

  • wow. just wow.

  • Good video. Very comprehensive for the length of the video. It's a shame that you can't just donate to a charity without having to investigate them first.

  • If somebody is wrong don't cut them any slack, I wouldn't want people to tiptoe around me when Ive done something wrong/incorrect.

  • @KnightTemplar108 well, i'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt. if you're not blocked from his channel, please share this video with him. i'm curious to see if he'll do a retraction or if he'll just ignore this video.

  • It's pretty damned obvious that monies are being filter SOMEWHERE. I smell a rat.

  • Something you do here is exactly why I stopped watching howtheworldworks. You not only researched the facts of the matter, but you put pictures of said paperwork with the relevant portions high-lighted. Doren provides links in the sidebar, and then asserts his conclusions without explaining his reasoning for doing so. More than once I followed a link only to be baffled as to how he interpreted it that way.

Given the message of my post, I should provide said links, but I no longer remember them.

  • @cristoballs - I have worked at accounts firms . . . I hope you are aware of a phrase in accounting called "creative accounting?" This is where companies, yes non-profits as well, will use creative means to 1) justify their expenses, 2) hide expenses, 3) save on tax liability, and other reasons. I hope you and this other person you mention understand that you really cannot go off a 990, 1120s, 1120, K-1 or other tax form. In order to know what is truly going, you must audit the company.

  • @PropheciesofWar i believe that's the point i was trying to make in this video. i'm calling attention to large amount of spending directed towards postage on the freedom alliance tax forms.

  • very good, i'm highly impressed.

  • @Ryoka242 thanks. this is really just the tip of the iceberg. i've been uncovering all sorts of dubious spending. it almost seems like a money laundering scheme. i'll explain more in my follow up video.

  • i posted links in what used to be the sidebar. i think it shows up below the video now. btw, did my vid show up in your subscriptions on your homepage?

  • @cristoballs yes the links show below the videos. thanks. and yes your vid did show up on my startpage in subscriptions.

  • Very well researched video again. Where can you look into this data ? Is there a website for it ?

The problem I have had with howtheworldworks is that he used sockpuppets. But that's how youtube works.

  • @mo1elftausend sorry, thought i hit the reply button to your comment. check additional info. it should be right below the video if you're on the new youtube layout.
