To everyone that is complaining... ok i dont find anything wrong with this video i mean its the easiest kind of substituting in algebra were you already have an equation and where it isnt in a sentence form where you have to figure out for yourself.... i dont get why some of you are saying that Americans are bad teachers!! actually theyre some awesome teachers that are willing to stay after school for hours to help you out....

@qhgabriel1 have you been taught in a different country? i find that teachers here tend to skip over minor detail, (which can be quite troublesome) which make it hard to understand. I'm not to say all math teachers are ""bad" here but it definitely seems more prevalent.

you get -8 and -12x by multipying -4 into the (3x+2) to get rid of the parenthesis

because he used substitution and plugged in 3x+2 for y

4y substitution 4(3x+2)=12x-8

he used the distributive property which means he has to times each number in the ( ) so in this case he did 4 times 3x and 4 times 2 and that is how he got that.

dang this did not help me learn anything for the acuplacer cmon argh back to the math books .....sigh...
