  • i love this song so much! <3

  • Goodness. I remember the first time I seen this.

I wanted a man like the Chairmen :p

I love this movie. Such a beautiful classic.

Makes me wanna cry. & The music is GORGEOUS.

    ty John Williams :)

  • John Williams doesn't make music to the movies,

the people make movies to his music.

  • This book was...incredible. The movie? Though not as good as the book, was great.

  • so amazing... this makes me think of world of warcraft for no good reason! i love this song so much! i used it for a presentation about Murasaki Shikibu and even some of the "tough guys" liked it! :D

  • Did this song give anyone else chills? That has never happened to me before. Wow!

  • This movie is absolutely fabulous and the soundtrack is also great...Delicate and deep...

  • jksdjkljflsjksljs just no words

  • OMG! I want to jump out of my skin when I hear this song!! Just everything about it is so wonderful. It makes me think of the trailer at the beginning of the DVD movie.

  • John Williams wow

  • Sounds like a song out of Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion. o:

  • Tout simplement sublime!

  • Just fantastic music!Absolutely brilliant!

  • I love this film, love the song and love the book, it´s really amazing!!

  • @kisha826 I like the film and the book too, you should read "Geisha of Gion" ("Geisha, a life" in the US) by Mineko Iwasaki it's a true story and better than "Memoirs of a geisha" :)

  • @Luke19Wales thanks a lot I´ll follow your advice :)

  • Every time I listen to this song I take out my Japanese fan and pretend I am a geisha

  • I like too dubstep remix of this song.

  • @Lythya No, it isn't.

  • One thing I dislike about this film is the disrespect to the story. It's a true story so show the characters some respect like you would other historical characters.

  • @Lythya Hi Lythya! This film is actually based on a novel by author Arthur Golden; is a wonderful book; although in fact he did extensive research to write it. Greetings from Mexico City.

  • @efeso97 that is well done, then. Wow, I had no idea. thx for info.

  • @Lythya Just so you know, this is a fictional story, with fictional characters. This film was based of a novel written by an American man who studied Japanese culture. This wasn't meant to be completely accurate, it was meant to be emotionally impacting and act as almost a revelation. So please be quiet and enjoy the beautiful music.

  • I like the movie, but I've read the book 3 times haha

  • I think just having the one pictures make it better. Because I find myself going to different pages of the internet and listening to this song. so I wouldn't really have much time to watch XD Thanks for uploading

  • this song/movie makes me feel like...i dunno i so like it it's wonderful :)

  • MERAVIGLIOSA!!! "lei si dipinge il viso..per nascondere il suo viso.." tatoo aspettami manca poco!! <3

  • this is one of the most amazing beutifull films iv seen ! <3

  • my favorite :)

  • if we tried this type of music, the Asians will do it 20x's better!:)

  • ....so beautiful film..........

  • a combination of repressed passions and rebellion, a contradiction in terms but this is what this music conveys other than of course a geisha's elegance, grace, charm, and the veiled emotions that no one knows of except she

  • I fucking LOVE this movie! I cry every single time when they finally kiss after so many years.

  • @TheBonesofBabyDolls Awww come on!!!!

  • Was this movie popular in Japan?

  • beautiful melody with soo sensibility,i love ittt

  • I don't like drama and romantic films but I admit that this film is masterpiece!

  • Bar 9's Strung Out Version is alot better

  • @ghostriderx101 Blasphemy! Sacrilege! Treason! Heresy! Profanity!

  • @FreljilTheHungi im joking of course

  • 很美的畫面 很喜歡 音樂很好聽

  • @twgirl1 jhasdklfhasjkl;hgjkadghlaj... what?

  • あなたが参照できないのでしょうか?私は橋の上でその子供の頃から私は、撮影したすべてのステップは、あなたに自分自身を近づけることになっている。.....Can't you see? Every step I have taken, since I was that child on the bridge, has been to bring myself closer to you. :)

  • @XxXKriisXxX the most beautiful words of the entire movie, that was true love...

  • @vashtiverous78 yeah :) it has been my #1 film since it was out,im doing a book report on it and i plan on going far out on it.

  • @XxXKriisXxX good for you i'm sure you will do great for it seems you like the film a lot and watching it alone makes one almost an expert on a geisha's world, let alone reading the book...i admit the first time i read it i was dazzled as though i had been admitted into a secret world and the film just compliments the book wonderfully :)

  • it reminds me to the house of night <3

  • this music is so amazing that i have goosebumps every time i listen to it!!!

  • I love both the book and the movie although it saddens me we lost a noble tradition. (Big Phil Class of 2012)

  • eyeslike water

  • Just read the book. :) looking forward to seeing the movie if i could find it....

  • @Lizzy74085 Great book right? You'll enjoy the movie; it is really good, although a bit inaccurate in places. Still a great watch. Enjoy it!

  • Omg what a song, what a film, I love, love, love this film so much, it sends shivers up me! Who else loves thid film?

  • @lucyannesmith the movie is amazing, but the book is MUCH better

  • @lucyannesmith i so freackin' love it tooo!!!!!

  • @lucyannesmith I do :D The atmosphere is so fantastic. And John Williams was the ONLY composer to take on such a film. Amazing score. Amazing movie. If you haven't yet read the book I strongly recommend it. =)

  • I feel like I got locked in overnight at a p. f. chang's :)

  • i use this to meditate xD

  • @mistersirisaacnewton I can recomend another song: A small measure of peace

  • @mistersirisaacnewton You know what else is good to meditate to? A way of life and Japanese Zen Garden, hope you enjoy it <3

  • check my channel of a vid of "memoirs of a geisha" :)

  • so amazing

  • beautiful movie

  • Reminds me of Guild Wars music somehow...

  • It was bad enough that the synthetic and cheap "The Social Network" score won for Best Original Score in 2011 (how the well-rounded, orchestrated, flavor- filled, and emotionally stirring "How to Train Your Dragon" score didn't just PISSES ME OFF!!!), but when I had to think back to 2005 and how this timeless, flavor-filled, soothing, beautiful, orchestrated score (BY JOHN WILLIAMS FOR CHRIST'S SAKE) lost to the forgettable "BrokeBack Mount mount Moose" score......just..........OSCARS SUCK!!!

  • @HardyRStudios I agree! How To Train Your Dragon and Memoirs soundtracks should have won hands-down! I don't even watch the oscars hardly because of how screwed up it is!

  • Wondeful music!!

  • Wow, i'd love to be as beautiful as her. :L i love this film... i think it's amazing. I really want to live in Jaapan, or China... it would be amazing. i want to learn all of their Rumors and Legends, i want to learn how to speak like them... but i'm thinking it's very difficult.. :( x

  • I'm reading the book right now, I got 154 pages to go! Then I'm going to watch the movie. (: This soundtrack is great to have playing in the background while reading the book. <3

  • @SiriulsyRed oh well the movie and the book are always different but then i figured i already knew that she eventually dies in the end because she told the guy not to publish the book until after her death so .. :) no worries

  • im reading the book first then watching the movie

  • @AL3KZTV She dies.

  • @imanoob4 dude really you just spoilled the whole book for me

  • I met a blue eyed japanese man, he belonged to the ancient people of ainus, a kind of asian ethnia whose homeland was the Northeastern portion of Japan. They all have blue eyes. Maybe Sayuri's ancestors were of ainu descent. The film is beautiful, but the music is simply divine.

  • i dont think ive ever meet a blue eyed jappanise but i think it would be wonderful to meet one!

  • I get tears in my eyes EVERY time I hear this.

  • SOOO GOOD AGAIN AND AGAIN!

    choyrecords/stopaidsnow/

  • the main actress is chinese!!!!

  • i love this movie its so beautiful...and this music<3

  • you cannot call yourself a true geisha until you can stop a man in his tracks with a single look

  • @LadyOfLight67 i stopped a man in his tracks with a sword, does that count?

  • this is the best movie ever created i love iven after these years

  • @Canadafreeze1 heck me too

  • that's what im doing right now!!! haaaaa

  • one of my favoooorite movies! and this is my favorite scene in the film.

  • "You cannot say to the sun: "More sun." Or to the rain: "Less rain." To a man, Geisha can only be half a wife. We are the wives of nightfall. And yet to learn of kindness, after so much unkindness... To understand that a little girl with more courage than she knew, would find that her prayers were answered...can that not be called happiness? After all, these are not the memoirs of an empress, nor of a queen. These are memoirs of another kind."

  • 20 people are Hatsumomos.

  • i ca `t say enogh a bout john williams but real great job no western can make asian music with that much feelings ,well don.

  • nickdan the portuguese first and ducht after were in japan. So portuguese are brunette but ducht are blonde blue eyes usually. And they mixed whit japanese. After a century were expelled, but their genes carried on. So although rare you can see blue and green eyes japanese. No mistery...

  • ukf dubstep mix august is inspired from this :P

  • Remember hearing this in the movie for the first time, I got goosebumps all over. So beautiful and sad. Still has that affect on me. What a gorgeous piece <3

  • I Love their culture. I'm partly asian and I just think the whole asian culture is beautiful

  • @stripes616 I wish I was part Asian, i'm English, Irish and Spanish. xx :D

  • @Emzyxx100

Lol My moms white but she's more interested in the asian culture as well.

    Lol

  • @stripes616 Cool, the culture is so beautiful how could you not be, I went to a museum in London today and spent two hrs just in one room to do with Asia x :D

  • I'm Japanese, I met a blue-eyed Japanese boy when I was in elementary school. He moved to somewhere else in a few months so I didn't get to know him well but I think he was from somewhere North East of Japan.

I remember being shocked to see Asian with blue eyes at that time.

This movie reminded me of him. He was the only blue-eyed Japanese I've ever met in my entire life. He was so mysterious looking too.

  • @NickDan555 i reckon he has some blood parentage from russia...

  • @NickDan555

If he had blue eyes then he's part Caucasian... Basic genetics.

  • @elsalfo blue eyes is not specific to white ppl it is found in other races but it is a genetic mutation and that is why it is found more commonly among caucasians because they are mutations to albinism. just like blonde hair is which shows the weakest of the genes. but again that is not specific to caucausians but more prevelent among them because of the origin of the race. if it were natural to have such eyes then they would not be more sensivtive to light. hope if u r white u are not offended

  • @elsalfo

I heard that North East of Japan like Akita or Iwate, there are small areas where you can find Japanese with blue/green eyes with no trace of foreign blood in their ancestors. they all say they are "pure Japanese". some research showed that they share few exact same genes as white ppl have. Syberian maybe? I'm not sure. but this boy I met looked nothing like Caucasian except his eyes were solid blue. other than that he was regular kid with jet black hair. kinda looked cool.

  • @NickDan555

No sorry you're wrong. Blonde hair is present in only one other race: the Papuan race. All other races donot have natural blonde hair nor blue eyes. Your evolutionary ancestors may indeed have had some variety (eg blue eyes, green eyes, red, brown or blonde hair) but they died off unlike with the European race where they flourished. The reason why they flourished is because we evolved (Natural selection) in a giant ice age, hence why low pigmentation was a selective advantage.

  • @elsalfo It's (natural selection) also the reason why Mongoloids generally speaking have far fewer eyelashes and slanted eyes. Apparently they evolved in more of a desert area. As for 'not looking Caucasian', mixed people can pick up recessive traits and still have most of their traits being the dominant non white phenotype. You can see people in Africa and America who have skin as black as the night and yet still have light blue Northern European eyes.

  • @elsalfo

PS: No-one knows why blonde hair remained in Papuans.

Also, low pigmentation was an advantage in an ice age due to lower sun exposure. Therefore when you did get out in the sun you needed to suck up as much light as possible, which is also the reason why the Sub-Saharan African has very dark skin.. A lot of exposure to the sun. White people wouldn't survive in Sub-Saharan Africa 20,000 BC and vice versa.

  • @elsalfo

OR he was part Ainu :). Ainu people very often had/have blue eyes, and also happen to have some features in common with Japanese people (High, pronounced cheekbones and about equal skin tone), which means that someone can easily look full-blooded Japanese but still have blue Ainu eyes, right? Actually, Japanese genes are 25% Ainu.

  • @NickDan555 I have light yellow/green eyes......people call me "tiger eyes" because the resemble a tiger's eyes. No I don't wear contacts.

  • @japaneseladysamurai

sounds cool! Actually, I'm full blooded Japanese but I also have light brown eyes almost hazel... in school kids used to tease me by calling me "gaijin"

  • @NickDan555 Hazel eyes are pretty, I'm half italian and EVERYONE in my family has brown eyes...Except for my great-grandmother and maternal grandfather in whom have blue eyes. Although I do have a form of albinisim O_O

  • @NickDan555 There are blue-eyed Chinese living in Northwestern China as well. Han Chinese, not those minorties.

  • @NickDan555 That's so beautiful. =) wowww! ^_^

  • @NickDan555 Problem is with contact lens nowaday, there are so many Asian with fake blue eyes.

  • amazing song amazin movie

  • i dont know what music will be like when john williams dies

it will be up to hans zimmer to change it

  • i love this film, and the culture and history of the hole thing......

  • The movie is never becoming old to me. It's my favorite ... and this music is so beautiful too. ♥

  • Beautiful~

  • Mon film préféré avec une musique juste magnifique et dépaysante....

  • @rainbowzrocker- True Geisha do not have sex except to become full Geisha. I mean I suppose they could but if they are, they are a prostitute not Geisha. I thought people who watched this movie would at least gather that- did you not see the difference between Geisha and say Satsu? Satsu was a prostitute, Chiyo became Geisha.

  • Im 15 and obsessed with this music and the movie itself...<3 <3 <3

  • @beeper398 Same

  • @beeper398 Hai, the movie is wonderful~ ^ ^

  • Most peaceful and most beautiful song. A Geisha life is not all about sex. It's about culture and beauty.

  • So beautiful :)

  • Bar 9 -Strung Out.;)

  • @ilienastasiuc1

I thought that I'm mad but it's really the Strung Out :P

  • @ilienastasiuc1 OHH thats where Ive heard it before!

  • beautiful book, beautiful movie, beautiful memoirs

  • A Geisha is a woman trained and paid to perform and be company for men.

  • hey guys...... bar 9 did a fucking dubstep remix to this!!! I'm sorry but anyone who loves this song and loves dubstep better damn well check it out!!!

  • @Flowreach Omg i love that dubstep! and before i watched this movie i heard it then i watched the movie and i was like omfg this is that dubstep song :D

  • @Flowreach The wubs sounds like fucking shit, the drop is shit, but this is the only good part.

  • This movie makes me dream about some better and more beautiful world hidden far far away...

  • I just finished reading the book. I was going to go watch the movie now!!!
