  • Benedict is just the most amazing actor. Holy shit.

  • Oh my god. Benedict just looks so adorable when he laughs after drawing on the ground.

  • Wow. I'm tearing up and I don't even know what he's talking about.

  • Stephen Hawking went through so much in his lifetime....I hadn't realized that until now. Such a brilliant physicist!

  • Oh God. This movie just made me fall in love with Stephen Hawking.

  • Never thought I would weep from joy over astrophysics xD

  • The part where he proves a collapse in reverse makes the hair in my neck stand on end, and I hardly understand anything about physics.

  • My god, Benedict is a phenomenal actor. He is an incredibly attractive man, but not because of his physical appearance. All of those features are just auxiliary. His pure, raw talent is what makes him exceptionally alluring to me. This man is outstanding, and perfect in every single way.

  • I'M ACTUALLY CRYING AT HOW TALENTED THIS MAN IS. GIVE HIM ALL THE DAMN ASS AWARDS.

  • I don't understand the mind of this woman. Why would she need time to think about marrying this sweet, amazing, intelligent man? It's nonsense to my ears.

  • she doesn't even need time to think if benedict cumberbatch asked me I would scream "YES"

  • i loved it when he said " bang"

  • "Bang!" His face. His pure joy in that moment. I...how is it possible that this man doesn't have an Oscar?

  • i will marry you benedict

  • He is normally right handed but he is doing this with his left hand.

  • @ellie9311 its to test how well his respiratory system is working or something

  • Seriously, who's actually watching?

  • why does me keep holding his breathe in the bath for?

  • @ellie9311 I think so he can live a little longer when his respiratory system gives out, but I'm not sure

  • Once again, Benedict's talent astounds me.

    Who could have disliked this?!

  • @1JessicaGo the woman on the train

  • He is so beautiful, such an amazing actor... I'm glad I discovered him. *Wipes her eyes*

  • I love how suitcases were so small in them days. Also, I'm impressed at how lovely that taxi driver was!

  • This film is beautiful. Benedict is BRILLIANT!

  • I love Benedicts portrayal of Stevens journey through each progressing step of his illness, it's making me weep :)

  • Priceless expression when he says "bang"!

  • ALL the feels

  • How does Benedict not have a BAFTA?

  • Is "George" George Ellis?

  • I love it when he says, "I love you deeply and forever!"

  • Not just physics but I consider life a journy, one that should be enjoyed along the way as you never know what you will discover and how it can effect something years later this is just amazing.

  • I cried TWICE on this part... the train station scene and the proposal. :")

  • It scares me when he is in the tub under water. I am terrified his muscles will not be able to lift him out. I know Hawking never drowned, but barely getting out and choking on water is pretty awful. Not to mention water getting in his weak lungs and causing a respiratory problem. I wonder if he really did this.

  • I have to admit the only thing I disapprove of is Stephen Hawking's fashion style. Great movie. Superb acting. (Oh yeah, and the guys on the couch)

  • You know, I have to say, Benedict is...so...incredibly talented. I mean, really, I saw him as Sherlock, and he plays it down pat, but when you talk to anyone who has met him irl, they'll tell you he's the sweetest person ever. Now, right here? I don't see Benedict Cumberbatch, I see Steven Hawking. See what i'm talking about? He's so very gifted, and an absolutely astounding actor. Just watch any of his roles in other films, and you'll see he takes it to a whole new level. :)

  • To everyone who points out "inconsistencies" in the movie, please read this. When someone suffers from ALS, their muscles stop working over a long period of time, getting progressively worse. Sometimes, however, they get this sort of spasm. They can suddenly not be able to move their legs, but regain some motion later. Sometimes it passes, sometimes it doesn't. Some days are just better than others. As someone whose watched a friend suffer, I'd say the movie has it pretty well pegged.

  • "Look! The past is pear-shaped!"

    I squee'd <33

  • imagine being told "i love you deeply and forever" by cumberbatch. i would die.

  • Benedict! Stop making Stephen Hawking so damned sexy!

  • I almost cried at the proposal true. Plus Benedict looks adorable in glasses! :]

  • How can someone dislike it. they obviously don't have a heart.

  • @11thdoctorwholover The way I see it, is that they were so teary eyed, they couldn't tell the "like" from the "dislike" button ;)

  • Benedicts acting in this is truly amazing XD

  • Oh my god, that grin at 8:52. It kills me.

I swear, Benedict should have bloody well got that BAFTA award for this. His portrayal of Hawking shows serious, serious acting skills.

  • Crying. Crying, so very much.

  • Why is he doing what he does in the bathtub?

  • @camomilehottea he mentioned at the beginning that his respiratory muscles wasting away would mean it would be like drowning when he died. i suppose that he thinks that him being able to hold his breath for longer means he'll be able to live a bit longer...thats my interpretation anyway :)

  • @camomilehottea When your respiratory muscles start to atrophy because of ALS, you can only hold your breath for so long, and it gets worse as time goes by. He's testing himself, I guess. Probably to try and predict if he has enough time left to finish his work.

  • never feel my hard so fast beeting like in the mooment at the trainstation

  • He looks just a bit like Forrest Kline...

  • Oh shit, I cried when he drawed his theories on the station platform!

That has to be one of the best scenes in this because he explained it so great that I felt dragged into it and understood it!

A very powerful mind and Benedict is such a great actor for this!

  • All of you who are saying the scenes are inconsistent, it actually makes alot of sense and consistency because if you noticed in the 1st or 2nd part he asks the doctor how long will it take the disease to kill him, the doctor tells hime that it's very gradual. So if you use your noggin you can make sense of him talking normally one scene and not normally the next. It's cuz its gradual and its not going to waste his muscles at the same time.

  • wow, i actually shed a tear, when he said "BANG", and when he was working on his paper. Brilliant movie so far, on to the last part.

  • He looks fantastic in that sweater.

  • what a brilliant actor.

  • Maybe, I am wrong, but watch Hawking walking at around 9:55. You will see that at first, he is walking like he is ill, but at the end of a scene, you can see him walking normally!

  • It's a nice movie but the scenes are not consistent.

for example one scene he can barely talk (trinity hall) and a few scenes later he speaks almost normally.

The same thing about walking , one scene he's barely able to walk and lift his head and the nexts scenes he walks almost normally while lifting his head.

Don't take it wrong , to movie is great but there are mistakes that are too much noticeable.

  • Thumbs up if you got worried that he *might* not get out of the water on his own this time.

  • HEARTLESS BITCH! How could she refuse Benny?!?

  • aaaagghhh, so adorableeee

  • A brilliant mind played by a brilliant actor.

  • When Stephen had that epiphany, I was getting excited myself.

  • I love his face at 2:26!!!! It's so cute!!

  • how does he get his voice to change like that?

  • Why does he have to be so cute!!!!!!!!!!! :D I love him and his actor. My favourite actor, and I love how down to earth he is.

  • the only problem with this movie is that it insinuates that hawking came up with the big bang theory, which, by my knowledge, he didn't; he helped support and explain it

  • how is it that he can get out of a bath tub easily when holding his breath...

  • Please cast Cumberbatch as the 12th Doctor. I love Matt Smith, but Cumberbatch would be amazing.

  • dus he know that lady on the train and why did he say I love you deeply and forever ?

  • @houdini2097 He doesn't know her, but her mention of the train being 'backwards' sparks in Hawking's mind the idea of time going backwards. He says 'I love you deeply and forever' because it was through her that he was able to come up with this revolutionary idea. :) . I doubt that, in reality, he thought of the idea when engaged in conversation with a woman on a train, but I'd like it to be true, it would be a beautiful illustration of how random strangers can, unknowingly, change our lives..

  • I would totally marry him

  • "I'm talking about the beginning of the universe!" -slaps with dissertation-. Aww, bless. :) John Sessions is awesome. And Benedict. BC for the damn win. Every time.

  • P.s ILL MARRY YOU!!

  • wow, benedict has played almost every genius in history...Sherlock (fiction) Charles darwin, Van Gogh and now ive discovered him as Stephen Hawking!!

    coincidence? i think not!!

    love this guy!!

  • @RhosFurey he didn't play Charles Darwin, but he was in the film. Shame, if he had played charles darwin he would've played both my science heros, namely Hawking and Darwin.

  • @Jenmp3

i found out about that the other day actually. i thought he was the main one but he wasn't. cant wait to see him in Warhorse though!!

  • wow he is so cute with glasses and longer hair :P i would say yes staight away :P

  • "I love you deeply and forever", awww, if only he said that to me... :)

and time to consider marrying him?! ARE YOU INSANE!!! i'd have shouted YES straight away!!!!

but hes so damn sweet... awww...

  • "time to think..." it meas something completely different coming from someone like him, who hasn't got much time.

  • I Love it when he says 'BANG!' in the station

  • I burst out in a fit of tears when I saw his huge grin after he discovered the Big Bang.

    brilliant man, brilliant actor. :')

  • i almost cried when he asked her to marry him :')

  • @Charapova100 screw almost THE TEARS ARE RUNNING DOWN MY FACE

  • @emmaiselectrifying Oh my God. SAME :O

  • I almost cried at 8:30 ;)

  • @pinkyellowblackred im sorry but you can, just don't scroll down and fight the temptation to look; if you don't want the temptation of comments that ruin it don't watch it on youtube..?

  • @Charapova100 It is not a temptation, yours is a top comment and its there, youve read it before you realize
