The designations BF and ME depend on when the "design" was created. Willy Messerschmitt went to work for Bayerische Flugzeugwerke (BFW) as a designer in 1927. @rampking1 because its not a air superiority fighter. its more of a gunship. It has a very high loadout and can also carry 2 MK108 cannons which fire 30mm explosive shells (1 of these bullets tears a spitfires wing straight off) plus 4 additional MGs

The bombers were literally defenseless from an attack from below.

As the RAF only bombed at night, the crews never knew what hit them and from my studies RAF high command never told them if they knew.

The Japanese attempted to use this idea late in the war, but I don't know if they got the idea from the Luftwaffe.

The Japanese were hurting for fighters that could fight at the altitudes of the B-29, so perhaps the reasoning for using the idea.

Wasn't the BF-110 employed as a night fighter equipped with primitive radar. It seems as if the Bf-109s or the Fw-190s would be taking on bombers during the day time. The Bf-110 did not do so well against Spitfires during the Battle of Britian. Does not seem they would fare any better against P-51's or P-38s or P-47's.

@rdsanchez1966 it seems that some Bf 110's were used in daylight operations against the 8th air force B-17's when allied escort planes didn't have the range to reach Germany. But, as soon as the Mustang and the Thunderbolt and Lightning made their debut over German airspace, the 110's got slaughtered once more. I think some of them were from much needed night fighter squadrons too.

@TheRiot504 no,fsx has no damage model besides for engines on fire. Trust me IL-2 takes longer to download but its sooo much better. FSX has like 20 planes to start with, IL-2 has over 300 FLYABLE planes, and a few more AI planes. You can create your own missions in IL-2. To download FSX u have to have 15 gb of hard drive space, while IL-2 is only a 3 something GB download.

Die Bf 110_G2 die Du im Video steuerst hat in ihrer Standart-Bordbewaffnung jeweils 2x20mm MG FF/M sowie 4x7,92mm MG17. Die Feuerkraft dieser Bewaffnung hätte NIEMALS diese Zerstörung bei einer (bzw. mehreren) B17 bewirkt! Ergo gehe ich davon aus das Du das kleine Hebelchen bei den Optionen namens "reelle Waffenwirkung ein/aus" auf AUS gesetzt hast. Desweiteren scheinen alle Bordschützen der B17 zu schlafen sonst hätten sie Dich schon längst zersäbelt als Du sie wie ein Noob von hinten angehst.

I'm a student skydiver and that in itself is pretty scarey. Could you image going through stuff like THIS for real? Getting shot at, plane on fire, having to jump (for real under those circumstances), buddies blown to pieces, all over enemy territory? Insane but thousands had to do it.
