  • Dallaire! The prototype of a coward, using the military to make a political carreer over the bodies of soldiers. may he rot in hell!

  • I'm sorry, but Dallaire didn't defy the UN.

  • @Ianstrox how so? he stayed there while the UN did nothing.. your probably american, who will only risk your tail when theres money to be made

  • Romeo Dallaire for me is a hero. It's not easy coming back from hell.

  • Kagame the Amerivan puppet triggered the genocide by killing president Habyarimana. the Americans let him cease rwanda at the expenses of the civilian popuation. Mr Clinton is disgusting and should be in jail

  • Second Genocide? Try forth. See what happened to the Armenian and the Cambodians.

  • ROL DE THE HAGUE, LA HAYA

  • There was no ancient tribal rivalry between tutsi's and hutu's. they are fictitious ethnic divisions implemented by Europeans too better control the populace through their "divide and conquer" principle.

  • @tvrulz46 stop blaming the white man, as africans brothers, they should have been able to overcome that difference but they didnt

  • @999basille

how did i blame the white man? I am white and i merely stated a fact, which made YOU defensive. being "african brothers" and thus assuming they can overcome their differences is so stupid and ignorant that im gobsmacked. Maybe you should have told that to Europe during 1939...

  • @tvrulz46 Amen.

  • @DeRoquencourt . "Dallaire the dummy helped Kagame seize power by shooting down president Habyarimana 's plane"

I assume you have proof of this? if you do, then I will pay you $1m for the story?

  • There was a clip on here about 2 years ago about Dallaire and with background music from Deborah Cox ("nobody cares"). I cannot find it...anybody know where I can find the clip?

  • @DeRoquencourt wow are you stupid? I bet you believe holocaust never happened, too.

Go live in a hole and never come out.

  • @fusedblue your so fuckin fugly and i sexed your mom good and proper

  • Hi, though Romeo was a good man, he was no saviour to Rwanda. That goes to the RPF (Rwandan Patriotic Front) led by Paul Kagame. It was the RPF who, inspite of the UN, brought the Genocide against the Tutsi to an end.

The UN is a bloated, statist, talking shop, who's only use is wringing its hands at one crisis to another.

  • Africans hate Africans

  • @lovesexpistols134 i hate africans

  • @normanbull That's a shame, since your family can be traced back there. I bet you hate that. Haha!

  • This is a great doco. Its great that its not 'sugar coated for TV'. I watched it twice. Keep making more and I'll be seeing you doing a story on 60 Minutes someday.

  • Excellent and to the point presentation.

  • Great job , and thank you for not putting distracting annoying music in the background like so many do , just listening to a nice voice getting strait to the point was great for a change...thank you girl.

  • who did this ? godd presentation by the way

  • In the SECOND genocide of the 20th century? Check out the Armenian death march of 1915ish, the forced famine of Ukraine of 1932 and 33, and the Rape of Nanking, December 1937. Check your facts, learn to cite and you will do fine.

  • @Milkquasy There was also the Cambodian genocide, and I've heard something about events in East Timor (though I haven't done my research on this one yet). Although, what she was saying still stands: "Never again" was a promise not kept.

  • I am curious as to what you think about the role of Catholic priests in all of this. Did they have a role? Could you enlighten me? Maybe you should make a presentation on that as well, would be interesting.

  • Great presentation, lildunn, well done! I hope we never forget what happened there. In that time the UN did spend more time on the problems in Yugoslavia imo. The amount of money and power spend there was a lot more then they did do in Rwanda. Question is, why did the UN spend more time and money in (former) Yugoslavia than Rwanda overall? The NATO did send 60000 troops to Bosnia-Herzegovina i think). Politics? Underestimated risk of the civil war and the possible outcome of it in Rwanda?

  • Excellent presentation. I served under Gen Dallaire in Rwanda, during the genocide. He is the most amazing person our military ever saw.

  • @paulmassicotte Thanks for being there Paul.

  • I'll bet Rwanda has to pay the costs of that in mony now ,right?

  • nice vid, he did alot more than those belgian fucks who instigated this

  • Well done. You did some great research, though a few points are not quite on the nose (ex: Dalliare did not "find" the weapons - an informant contacted UNAMIR about them. The UN approved the troop increase but failed to deploy them in time - several times over. The full approved deployment didn't get there until Dec 1994). But good stuff!!

  • @xenatorres

Exactly. The informant was Kassim Turatsinze, known as 'Jean-Pierre' to the people of the UNAMIR. He was Mathieu Ngirumpatse's personal driver.

  • You should watch the movie Hotel Rwanda, it covers a good deal of it and Romeo Dallaire is a major character too.

  • Though HR is a good film, it does a very poor job with it's 'based on' version of Dallaire. He wasn't consulted at all.

Watch the Canadian film "Shakes Hands With the Devil," for Dallaire's story, or, better yet, read Dallaire's book "Shake Hands With the Devil: The Failure of Humanity in Rwanda"

  • @UnitedStates1993 Just for clarification, LTG Dallaire was not featured in Hotel Rwanda. You are thinking of COL Oliver, played by Nick Nolte. COL Oliver is a fictitious character who was, however, inspired by LTG Dallaire.

I know it's kinda splitting hairs, but just so you know =-)

  • @supersmashwolves. That's the official verdit but it is widely believed, and accepted, that the casualities were higher at around 1 million.

  • 4:43 : Romeo Dallaire with Roy Dupuis, the French Candaien actor who portraied him in the movie adaptation of his autobiography "Shake hands with the devil"

  • Il é surement dégouté a vie Romeo!

La haine qu'il dois avoir contre L'UN!

  • It is horrible to hear that you lost 10 of your brothers in arms. Can you imagine how many more would have died if Dallaire were not there?

  • @wittenelm I can't believe you'd say something so ignorant. What about the 1,000,000 dead Rwandans? I would have really like to see you do a better job had you been in his position.

  • @tm18241

your a little off on your dead count, its around 800,000 but still a great loss to the country.

  • for me i don't blame Brig.gen Dallaire for the failure of stopping Rwandan genocide because he was a soldier, so he had to follow rules from his masters(UN) and he tried his best according to the means that were avaible.

  • Were those real bodies in the beginning? : /

  • yes

  • (sigh) If only Clinton and Kofi had had the wherewithall to stand on moral principle. Sadly it is true that the value of lives on the African content is proportionate to the resources below the surface. In Rwanda there are only bodies.

Wonderful lesson in history and humanity.

  • sounds fine to me not sure if she's Canadian tho but possibly, anyways good job dude im gunna be in the Infantry sooon and then JTF2 well apply so hopefully i wont have to see something like that but if i do so be it good job

  • haha, i resent that, this is my voice :/

  • Good job lildunn2011! Apart from a few misrepresented facts, this is really good!

  • @lildunn2011 your voice is fine, Thanks for putting this out there people need to know the facts.

  • @lildunn2011 good presentation. horrible events :(

  • @lildunn2011 You have a cute voice :P

  • Unfortunately, I cannot watch this given the narrator's voice. :(

  • Good information but I wish some one with an internation standard accent to read this information. Her accent is not an accent that every one can understand. Not like those working with BBC, CNN etc

  • If you took the time to look at her YouTube page, you would have seen she is a 16 year old highschool student. This video is probably a school assignment.

Guve the girl a greak, will you !

  • Thanks for the info. Sure I will give her a great. Bless, peace, love

  • Woops that was on Julia's profile, well just so you know that was me, Rob.

  • Hmmm can't tell if thats lighthearted or not. Well those are just some of the same stuff the history day folks said about my previous videos. Haha I remember I couldn't even take off the Ken Burns effect on my first video.

  • It's just a rough draft Rob, don't be so friggin' critical... Jeeez

  • Very good video, good pictures, good video, good information and only a few critiques one may have, The pictures are good but you may not want to use the Ken Burns effect on your Imovie so much. And there's no music so it becomes kind of hard to pay attention after about 5 minutes. You might have wanted to put in a video of Dallaire talking just to get an idea of what he sounded like. And you might want to talk about what happened to him after Rwanda some more. That's about it, great movie!
