This video does have some legitimate claims; for example, resetting the SIM PIN1 does cause the phone to overlook the SIM lock and allow the SIM to be used, but when I scan for networks, I find "AT&T DR" and "AT&T MicroCell", neither of which will allow me to authenticate. However, I am able to see my SIM ICCID and phone number in the Network Info after resetting the PIN; information that is "not available" otherwise.

You can't unlock texting for the ID only calls. All you gotta do is go to network options and search for a network

Internet can't be unlocked at all. The Sidekick relies on Danger's servers for data plans, so if you want internet, you'd need to get T-Mobile. Sorry. It's not a problem for me though, because I use Clear WiMAX.
