this clown better hope no one from the safety department watches this. he would deserve any discipline they give him for being stupid enough to let this get posted
first off i dont think that it really matters if the guy is working his ass of or not, one handing a saw is against policy wether your working hard or not. and i dont see how advanced this is. i mean hell, this dude is slow as hell, if he would place that bucket in a spot where he could reach alot he would get more done quicker.
I work 4 Asplundh now and they still dont want you to one hand a saw. It might be stupid but its their rule, and if you want a job with them then you have to follow the rules. He could have used a rope or even a hook saw. And yes you have to have a safety yellow vest with reflectors to work road side.
My husband worked for Asplundh among other tree companies...most of which have been taken over by Asplundh. I just watched a video taken in 1996 when he was working with Utility Tree Service. He was a forman topping out a tree. I would love to put parts of it on youtube if I could figure out how to get it off a VHS tape to put on here.
Meh, it's really not that big of a deal. I was apart of the first "Trim trees in a lake out of a boat." thing at R.L. Harris Dam, and we had our pictures plastered on the papers with a guy one handing and nothing was ever said. You can't honestly believe that Chris or Scott are going to try and make an example out of someone working their ass off can you?
I agree with some of these comments, We all have taken "shortcuts" before, but when you are gonna post a video to youtube that is gonna reflect on a large company, you need to have your shit together. I could point out a million things wrong with there work procedures and the job site set-up. Its only a mater of time til Chris and Scott start watching these videos. I heard the radio say NW Washington,i'm sure they could figure out who it is.The Lazy-ass GF sits in the truck til 1 min. left.
Yes, I've heard that an employee caught one handing a saw at Asplundh is subject to firing.
Which I think is BS.....ANSI not withstanding. It's all about getting the work done fast, and as safe as possible. Two hands in that situation would have taken forever, or required flaggers to stop traffic on the only remaining lane on that side of the street.
This guy is an accident waiting to happen ! One handed cutting, not facing the direction of travel, probably no audible warnings, groundsmen not wearing safety vests. Damn...
He is one handing the saw to help his ground crew out and to keep brush out of the lane of traffic. The do not have to have orange, due to the fact they are wearing YELLOW! Guy did a good job.

one handed cutting is against company policy. anyone working roadside has to have reflective material on their body,REGARDLESS of color.
