@LegionDCX On the contrary, I can hear the inspiration he has taken from Bowie. I do, however, prefer the Bowie version... mostly because this version sounds too aggressive for the context of the lyrics...
Hearing both back to back, I can easily hear the respect in Mansons cover for Bowie. I imagine Bowie was a big influence to Manson in his early years and possibly even now still. If you don't like the song, just don't listen. No reason to ruin the beauty of music for everyone else. ^ ^
YAY! I this makes me happy. I have always LOVED Bowies material, but i just can't stand his nasal voice, its just not for me, and it always ruins my experience of his fantastic songs.. So this let me enjoy this track as i should ^^
I always seem to love MM covers.. because he does a great job. After I saw several interviews with him I loved him, and his songs, even more. He is very well-spoken and smart. This guy knows what he is doing; All around... a good guy!
Thanks for posting. It's been almost 15 years, can we get this track up for legit download so everyone can get paid...and so I don't get TOO nostalgic over my cassette tape walkman ;p
I love love love Bowie. And I really dig Manson. Manson also seems to really dig Bowie. I do prefer the Bowie version, but that may or may not have something to do with the fact that I heard that and loved it before Manson ever covered it. Anyway, my point is that whichever one you prefer is gonna be personal taste - the fact is, the song is just fucking cool. Also, JackofCarpathia: you rock, just for that comment.

I've listened to both versions.
I love Manson's.
I hate Bowies.
I'm not going to say that one's better than another, because obviously we all have different opinions, and tastes. but this is just my personal taste.
I think that the animociy amongst people on here is mostly the age factor. For us Manson fans, we are probably going to say something diehard cooper or bowie fans would say if someone became the "new shock rocker" and covered a Manson song. I am just a fan of music in general. I like both versions of this song. So...stop whining on the internet.
@ElectricSexPants Dead Man On Campus soundtrack. The movie is decent, not great but decent and funny in a dark way. I wouldn't watch it if you have something else to do, but on late night TV or if you're bored or whatever.
Manson never covered You Spin Me Right Round. The band who did that cover is called Dope. It's on the re-release of their first album "Felons and Revolutionaries".

Prefering his song to a shitty Bowie original doesn't make me a fanboy. David Bowie sucks. Plain and simple... I think you need a Delorean to go back and learn what good music is all over again.
Manson is alright and has done his share. Never been at the top of my list, but I can appreciate the appeal. More of a novelty if you ask me. It should be noted that there is no getting around his blatant attempt to BE Bowie in so many ways. And to say that an artist like Bowie (or Manson) is shitty points to a very narrow mind. Bowie wrote it. Marilyn lifted it. And if it were not for guys like Bowie, Bolan and Ferry, Manson would not exist.
That's not really fair to say... you're giving Manson a hard time because he is younger... If he were Bowies age, he very well could of done the same thing for music. We'll never know.
no duh i didn't mean bowie had contacts..he got punched in the eye a long time ago and thats y his eye is a different color. but i meant wat dawningdemon said.
Dressed similar? Shit, their fashion senses are practically opposite, and almost always have been. And Bowie doesn't wear contact lenses- His eyes are naturally like that. And to call Bowie the "old Marilyn Manson" is a complete trivialization - of both of them - being that their music styles are even more different than their dressing styles.
As for this song... I like it. A creepy version of a good ol' flowery tune. Gotta love it.
first off, contacts didn't even exist in the '70s. Bowie's eyes are naturally different and Manson just completely rippped that one off him. Sad, but true. As for comparing them, you can't. they're completely different. Bowie did use makeup a lot, like Manson does now, but their styles are completely different and their artistic intents for their music are complete opposites.
the bowie of our time? i highly doubt it. while Manson's work may be popular right now, i doubt it'll have the same kind of wide and broad impact as Bowie's work has done. I respect Manson, but I kind of doubt it. If he meant by the shock factor, then maybe, but the shock factor can get old very easily. Manson is well into his thirty's now, will he continue the way of KISS and look the same @ 65?
Oh I love David Bowie, don't misunderstand, but MM puts so much more depth into this song. This is the better one of the two! Thanks for posting. The video is good, too!

Sure. Say that to the 300.000.000 people who bought a bowiealbum. Marylin doesn't come near to Bowie. This fake artist vs Ziggy Stardust? Get Real.
