@SolitaryKiwi While I don't like KambeixKirara, I felt like you, but with KatsushiroxShino: they were the original couple in the film, Shino even appeared in the anime (the girl with the boyish haircut), but there isn't any fanfic about them....>__>, we should found a Samurai 7 unloved couples FC lol XD

Since we are dealing with Japaense anime, really anything should be possible. Now that this masterpiece is finished, they can make another series with the same characters but tweaking the story even more (like how Fullmetal Alchemist had the anime version and the manga anime version) - just a thought.

I really loved all these characters and would love to see more of them.

fave song from this anime and fuhen~! now that i think about it this was the only anime w/ a twist at the end that didn't make me upset...i really thought she liked the younger one so i was surprised when it was revealed otherwise but that didn't really disappoint me like i would normally be w/ other animes... samurai's never stay so i guess from the start my feelings were already conditioned that this rarely ends in happy endings....

@LoveYamachan then again i wasn't so fond of the characters except for the younger sister and her giant samurai buddy, so i guess i had no strong bias, for i watched this for the story itself and not because how the characters look...

The ending of this show just sucked! kirara didn't live her life with katsushiro, komachi lost kikuchiyo, and Kambei and shichiroji left too, DAMN IT!. IT'S NOT HAPPY ENDING!!! (very sad voice).

It's not supposed to have a happy ending. This anime is a retelling of the Seven Samurai from 1954... Heihachi, Gorobei, Kyuzo, and Kikuchiyo died in that one as well and the village girl Katsushiro slept with did not stay with him either.

Indeed. Kambei even said the same line in both the original and in the anime, the whole "The Farmer's won, not us. In the end, we've still lost"
