Which is a good thing for those Bradley's, since if the Iraqi tanks -had- been fully equipped Soviet models, those guys in the Bradleys would have likely been annihilated as soon as their element of surprise wore off and they ran out of missles.
Also, we would have likely lost a number of Abrams tanks as well had that been the case. No doubt we'd have still won, the Abrams was still vastly superior to even the advanced T-72, but we'd have actually had a fight, rather than a turkey shoot.

It was very one sided in Desert Storm.

@namznej in 91 the internet was virtually non existent, GPS was pretty much unknown to anyone that does not personally use it. Before hand the U.S and Iraq were allies so their was no need to send spy's. But then again how much was published about the U.S tank tech back in 91....

Which is a good thing for those Bradley's, since if the Iraqi tanks -had- been fully equipped Soviet models, those guys in the Bradleys would have likely been annihilated as soon as their element of surprise wore off and they ran out of missles.
Also, we would have likely lost a number of Abrams tanks as well had that been the case. No doubt we'd have still won, the Abrams was still vastly superior to even the advanced T-72, but we'd have actually had a fight, rather than a turkey shoot.

@sattifarhan Because generally speaking, their armor and weapons were stripped down, "monkey model" as they called them, export weapons. The Soviets didn't give them any of the actual good stuff, which would have made their T-72s a reasonably significant threat to the Abrams. As a result, their tanks were only slightly more advanced than those of WW2. Their turrets weren't even powered, they were hand cranked. A footsoldier could outrun their traverse. It was very one sided in Desert Storm.

I think I know why that T-72 didn't fire until too late. He's just getting started to process the ruckus, then the 25mm starts "pinking" him. Inside the commander gets puzzled and turns to look. Seeing this (Bradley)...."little thing" just going at it must have been very awkward to behold... until his friend came back BAM... probably not what happened, would've been funny

WHAT THE HELL WHY DIDN'T THE T-72 Shoot??? probably these weren't even T-72 they probably mistaken them with BMPs or BTR-60s cause a T-72 would've easily shot at least 3 rounds to the Bradly in all that time.

questio about the bradley: when they fire their TOE missle and it has a rope that allows it to be guided what happens to the rope after it hit its target, does it get cut of or just sticks there because the bradley that shot the toe missle to the ground the rope is still intact??? someone plz answer :)
