the owner and i did shoot an couple rounds and by closer look bevore and after i was not see any damage/change on the gun. im still alive and well, its everybodys own life.
that has nothing to do with that. if you check the gun and have the knowledge and responsibility, for yourself, they its up to you to now if you want do that or not.
i consider my best feature is that i now relative exactly what i can do and what not and i honestly say so if i cant.
back then in ww2 that was an different world. most all the stuff we use now was not around. we can all say what if or its no good but they did it and used it as best they could in that time, cause there wasent much. check my videos of the sten mk3, simmilar quality and it works!
you all have to consider that some of them, dropped behind the lines, may get in the hands of the enemy and you sure dont want give them an to effective weapon for free. apperantly some where used against us by enemy or criminals. i had an couple liberators in my hand over the years but that was the only one i shot, the cocking, loading, breech and so on did work by all of them, so i say its reliable. it wasent designed to shoot 100s of rounds tru it and if do so, then i think it wear out fast.
@swissbianco They were bascially "Cap-a-Cop" guns for freedom fighters to kill a German Soldier and then take his gun. These weren't designed to fight wars but to get a gun to fight wars.
if you look at some prototype handguns later in ww2 using stamped sheet metal parts, like the liberator, there would not have be much more money involved if it would be an cheapest semi auto pistol, using an integral magazin for say 7 rnds. some say the us where affraid to drop to effective weapons as after the war they could be turned against them...
@swissbianco the gun was not reliable- it just wasn't- it was cheap and well designed- but after 50 round through it, well- a .45 acp catridge did damage to say the least
@ReverbedBassStudios I wish they still cost $2 US... unfortunately it set me back almost $2500 for mine. They're fascinating little pistols though, and no WWII collection is complete without 'em.
KevinMacKay is right, the idea was that a civilian could use the pistol to approach an unsuspecting guard , shoot them and take their gun, then you threw away the liberator, Interesting idea, but in reality probably not used very often. Once they became available the RAF dropped Stens and Brens
accuracy was better than expected, however the 45 acp bullets did tumble after an couple meters. for the intended use that is ok. the trigger and sight is of course no near match gun quality.
the best would have be made an cheap cast pistol like the jennings etc companys, in 9mm luger and using the 13 rnd fn hp pistol magazin. this pistol would have be more useful that the standart nazi luger and p38, using the same ammo in in higher cap magazin. maybe make an longer barrel version for mount an cheap trowaway silencer.
i dont now if an 410 would fit, will check and post, i feel its chambered only for 45 acp. we have 410 in europe too.
the tactical use of that device was limited,, very limited. did you want try to kill an german solider with this and the german has at least the 98k? if not the mp40. also they where usually not alone. the noise is agressive and its single shot and require an serious time and fiddeling around to reload.
Imagine if jews had these in europe in ww2, they would been able to assassin a lot a nazys and run away, there would have been so much nazi murder that they could not do anything

Considering that they were meant for suprise attacks at close range and only cost 8$ usd to make, id say its pretty good.

@xavier6757 lol the sten gun cost $9 this cost about $1-$2 to make

This gun was apparently terrible. Effective range was 7.6m and poking with a stick was only to extract your spent cartridge.

these were ridiculously cheap ($2US back then) and carried 5 rounds in the handle of the gun (or was it 4...) around 1.2million were made.
No, i did not get this from wikipedia, i got it from MY encyclopedia :P
(what? it's a hobby)

If you ask me, the liberator was one of the smartest ideas of WWII

Do a review and accuracy test. Not enough videos on this piece.

They did they dropped them all over France, your supposed to shoot a guard in the back of the head and steal their gun
