  • Nice piece of machinery!! Noticing the locking hardware and all the nice machining. The main rotor head and tail rotor linkages are nice pieces of engineering. Helicopters are such amazing "contraptions", which is the appeal. I get the impression from earlier postings that you might be involved in the company that makes these kits; if so, thanx for making this activity available to more people who can't afford the full-blown machines.

  • @xtraceex A very nice piece of engineering. I've no connection with the manufacturer, just a very satisfied customer.

  • Where could I order one of these kits?

  • @Videogametourist Google Mosquito Helicopters. You'll find 'em.

  • hey heather you are hot lol marry me i have a f22

  • Heather is BEAUTIFUL.

  • Very nice woman.....:D Azért a helikopter sem rossz!

  • Is Heather married foxy girl

  • @bushbasher46 Yes, happily married, four kids.

  • So the twist grip when twisted increases the main rotor speed and engine rpm simultaneously. Yes?

  • Cant believe i just learned to fly a helicopter! Its just like the Matrix.

  • nice toes!

  • Jerry now you need to build a 2 seater so you can take Heather for a ride shes a very pretty lady

  • hi jerry is there a gyro for the tail rotor or is it all done by foot

  • @O7ROADKING The foot pedals control the pitch of the tail rotor blades.

  • Great tutorial! Thanks!

  • Heather is so lovely :-)

  • Heather is absolutely Gorgeous!!!

  • @turbinexxx I'll forward your comment to her.

  • What are auto's like in that chopper?

  • @akrider43 Pretty good, lots of rotor inertia.

  • couldnt you trim the tail to hold?

  • shes good looken and all. but that guy wasted his breath cuz she didnt get a thing he said....

  • Thanks. I've done about 15 hours on an RC heli. Can't imagine getting INTO one of these knowing how tricky they are to fly!

  • @knightday1973 Helicopters are indeed "tricky" to fly. It's an unnatural act...ha

  • @knightday1973 They are not tricky to fly! Like all things you need to do some practice :-)

  • how does coaxial compare with cost to build

  • @mrbilly800 Co-axials are somewhat more expensive to build but are easier to control and provide more lift for the horsepower than tail-rotor designs.

  • welldon very nice clip we laren more

  • So if the engine cuts out in the air that main roter is going to keep the pilot cool while he is sweating.LoL

  • They will "drift down" if one remembers to quickly lower the collective and maintain forward speed by diving. In aviation jargon it's called an "auto-rotation." The wind keeps the blades turning, in effect a flywheel storing energy, to be used during the flare to stop and lower the ship to the ground. You get ONE try to do it right!

  • @jerrywsoloflex

No you apply the air brakes, when it stops put it in park and then climb down the rope.

  • is it True these Things are designed to if you run out of fuel in flight they Drift down? becose iv head somewhere a few of them Drift down.

  • @ht448 its called "auto-rotation"... look it up.

  • @ilovegoatsecks Why did you Write it like that? YOu could of just said yes or no... Who Shit in your Weetbicks

  • I love Heather too! I also like the copter. ;-)

  • how much does it cost to learn to fly a helicopter ?

  • @dambam1000 A Private Pilot Rating typically costs about $7,500.

  • @jerrywsoloflex OK.does it require any special education or university degree?

  • @dambam1000 No, just the brains to pass the written tests and the skills to pass the flight tests. Both are difficult, require lots of time and effort. Well worth it though!

  • you should put oil

  • Thats the best overview I've ever seen done on one of those units. (or on helicopters in general for that matter) You could be their spokesperson Jerry.

  • this mosquito helicopter in forbidden to fly in FRANCE because the country have no license about this little machine i think it's too dangerous for us because the lot of montains and this helicopter does not fly very high

  • nobody likes the uk except the uk and americans

  • I love you Heather......!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'll forward your comments. She is a doll, isn't she!

  • OMG....!!!! She is so cute and sexy, great model ....is she single.? ah by the way nice and thank you for the instruccion...there is my mail tell her to please write me a line

    thankx Jerry....... Erick.

  • Thnx m8 that was gr8 now I cn bld 1

  • Great job ....beautiful helicopter...thanks for share your videos...very interesting ...

  • $35,000 assembled, ready to fly. I think the kit is about $20,000 if you want to put it together yourself. I wouldn't fly anything I built.

  • how much did this cost

  • The reduction belts should be replaced at the first sign of any wear. Nearly all components are replaced at the 500 hour inspection, some sooner than that.

  • How often do you need ot change the belts? I imagine you probably wouldn't let them get as worn as you might on a car ;)

  • Greetings from the UK!

    Really nice machine.

I flew model helis in the 80s/90s then moved onto flexwing trikes (couldnt afford a heli)

ive had 5 engine failures in 2000 hours.

How reliable have you found this? What engine is it?

  • @automateanything Well, it hasn't quit yet. Two-stroke air-cooled engines are notoriously unreliable but this one, an MZ-202, may prove the exception. It's an Italian design, manufactured in BC, Canada.

  • sorry jerry on that faux pas.my apologies to heather as well.fortunately your wife isnt around to hear you say that heather 'unfortunately' isnt your wife/mistress.when i do want to learn to fly a helicopter wil seek you out.

  • @mrajan999999 No problem. You can start practicing cyclic control now, just balance a broom in the palm of your hand while tap-dancing, reciting the Gettysburg address and texting with your left hand.

  • hey jerry, never seen a better presentation of how a helicopter works and very very well done.thanks a lot.who i presume is your wife and your dog did make us feel at home, relaxed and totally at ease a you went about.great job jerry.

  • @mrajan999999 Thanks. Once a flight instructor, always a flight instructor. Like most American males I share the peculiar custom of having one wife and hardly any mistresses. Unfortunately, Heather isn't one of them. The dog's mine though. Deaf as a stone...

  • I love helicopters, but WHAT HELICOPTER? Someone is a lucky man... helicopter AND a gorgeous wife? (Hey, you asked for it buddy.) But I always heard it called a cyclic... "sick-lick", not "sigh-click"). Her body needs to learn how to fly... heh heh. :) Nice mosquito, Jerry!

  • Very interesting and beautiful. And the helicopter is neat too. :)

  • @cardioflow She is a beauty, for sure. Heather too!

  • Heather is a stone FOX! Wish I was 20 years younger. Or maybe 30 years? Oh sh*t.

  • That looks exactly like the helicopter from the movie Mad Max

  • @jman9295 The Mad max machine was a gyrocopter, not a helicopter. A gyrocopter has a free wheeling main rotor and a pusher or puller propeller to push it forward to keep the main rotor spinning. They don't fly backwards/sideways or hover like a helicopter. They do look like helicopters though so easy to confuse.

  • jerrywsoloflex, where do you live?

  • @konigludwig2 West of Portland, Oregon

  • @jerrywsoloflex Ok I find your home with Google Heart, you are near the coverd Bridge: Latitudine: 45°36'17.72"N , Longitudine: 122°54'21.65"O. Fantastic!!!! I Iwant to come live with you!

  • @konigludwig2 Ha! You just want to meet Heather. The covered bridge is on our south 40.

  • @jerrywsoloflex Yes.......

  • @jerrywsoloflex Yes, I want to meet Heather. !!!!!!!!

  • I'd feel very unsafe 100 feet up in that little seat haha. Also, it looks like you own beautiful property... Are you a commercial pilot? What's the deal if you don't mind me asking, aha.

  • @WootMapler Of course it's dangerous, it's a helicopter. I was a professional pilot before starting Soloflex. I wanted to see what life was like in the back seat of those jets I'd been flying. Found it wasn't any better, just different - happiness being a matter of disposition, not position. The farm is a treat for the eyes after 20 years of hard labor.

  • Very nice wife!

  • @konigludwig2 I'm sure she is but she ain't my wife, she's my wife's stylist.

  • @jerrywsoloflex Ok, very beatifull stylist!!

  • if you had an ultralight helicopter in the uk would you need a licence or would there be no license required?

  • @rossncookie I don't know. Each country makes its own regulations. I'll try to find out for you what the ultralight rules are in the UK.

  • Thanks, Jerry! Very helpful.

  • No ballistic parachute on the rotor head?

  • @aqueousone That would be a nice back-up when a safe autorotation is not possible. Air bags under the seat would be nice too. Even safer would be to just leave it in the garage, however, to live a good life one should live as though one had already died.

  • can you do a knife edge?

  • @mikitymike Yes, for a split second...just before the blade's break off. Haven't tried one yet. ha

  • for serving the two pedals

  • Very informative video. Thanks jerry and the lovely Heather.

  • this is great thank you for posting this i am fascinated!

  • Very cool. Great anyone can fly them too. 5*

  • Fantastic video! Very helpfull.

  • Great video.

    The blades are aluminum?

  • Yes, aluminum.

  • I have watched both your video Jerry and Larry, I was thinking about the comment of building a machine that anyone could fly. I want to take a Mosquito and R/C it up with servos and radio gear. Now imagine this- Your a kid, you want to fly a helicopter. Well now you can, you pay your $10 or whatever you fly them around via R/C land them safely and everyone is happy! What do you think?

  • It would make a great toy for kids named Rockefeller, Gates, Buffett, etc. Not so practical for the masses. You may be on to something though, a remote instructor who could over-ride while a student learns. My earlier comment about a plane anyone could fly presumed the pilot would be inside the plane and fly it safely without instructions. It's possible to build a plane like that.

  • Yeah when I saw that the Mosquito has to be built and tested, I was like thinking dummy weight and RC control just to make sure everything is working (rather than test piloting). From what I have learnt about helicopters (through RC) they are not very forgiving when something does go wrong, like loss of cyclic, rudder, huge drop in rotor speed, loss of collective.

  • How about getting a real A&P and have it checked???? before anyone gets hurt....

  • I've long dreamed of making the joy of flight available to anyone by building aircraft that anyone could fly without training. It's quite simple to do.

  • Thanks for that "God from the machine".

Nicely explained. My co-star was nowhere near as attractive as yours. :)

  • That was fantastic Jerry. Very well done for ur first go :-) I understood everything perfectly. In fact u might consider featuring this vid for a little while. I'm sure it would do quite well there.

Was this your first talking video btw? *haha* :-D

Do u think Heather would wanna learn how to fly the M one day? I know that I would only have to sit in the seat 1 time & I'd ask a million questions, then I'd wanna try flying it for myself :-D

Thanks again for the show & tell.

  • My treat! Thanks for the suggestion. I can't even talk my professional helicopter pilot friends into flying it. They say it looks like fun but then mumble something about wanting to stay alive. Hmmm?

  • I've always had the utmost of respect for UL pilots. Somehow flying these smaller, underpowered, "knees in the breeze" aircraft seems so much more 'romantic' to me.

These aircraft seem very experimental & mostly built for the sheer pleasure of flight itself. UL's offer a very visceral experience to their pilots, that I guess some (or maybe many) simply can't understand.

I like Trikes especially & the M is really cool too, but as I understand it, helicopters are expensive to operate :-(

  • I'll be happy to show u Larry. Let me see if I can find a video to help illustrate the quick steps to featuring whatever vid you want to.

Look out for my vid :-)
