Actually, I do practice Aikido, and yes, I would not kick like that, but that does not mean other people who practice Aikido are physically unable to do so.
@vampire622003 yes he fights good with only one arm but that wasn't a perfect dogde.. You never turn your back to the opponent and lose him out of sight, could've been critical if the other decided to throw a kick
@Cookin8709 You've got an interesting definition of "enraged". Also I never claimed to be, nor am I affiliated with the military. I'm just someone who knows their history. And the reason you find different variations of karate is because it is taught worldwide, and many masters of different body types, mentalities, and tactics have adapted the original okinawan technique to be more practical for themselves. It may look similar to aikido, but in technique, lineage, and philosophy they differ.
@Cookin8709 Now Okinawa is a part of Japan, but they haven't always been. Like I said, learn some history, you'll see what I mean.
Bottom Line= In lineage, technique, training method, and philosophy Karate and Aikido are completely different. And any idiot who classifies Karate as Aikido and Aikido as Karate does not know what they are talking about. Karate is a derivative of White Crane Kung Fu Techniques taught in Okinawa to fend off a shinto invasion. Aikido is koryu based. Read moar.
@superawesomejeff I agree 100%. You can even see a clear difference in the styles. Karate tends to have a lot more strikes and kicks in it, wheras aikido and it's cousins tend to favor throws and grappling a lot more.
I trained for a few years in both a japanese school of jujitsu, and an Okinawan Gojuryu school under Glenn Keeney. totaly different philosophies at work there.
@Cookin8709 You are on crack. Aikido is derived from Sumo Wrestling, Kendo, Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu, and Bayonet techniques O-sensei learned in the militairy. Karate is from Okinawa, Aikido is from Japan. The technique curriculum for Aikido is absolutely nothing akin to any form of Karate.
Hapkido is more similar to karate, but also derives technique from Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu.
@superawesomejeff actually mate, Karate was created in China low profile. Then moved to Okinawa were it was given new technuiqes. Now Karate is known as a Japanese martial art because there was more moves created in Okinawa than in China. Wikepedia is not the best scource of research if you are a know it all. No dis respect.
@MrSambr lol... well sorry, but I did mention the White Crane lineage in another comment on this video. Aside from the lineage from that style i do not have any knowledge of when the techniques drifted away from White Crane and started becoming Karate, being before or after going to Okinawa. My bad. My initial point, which is even further proven by it coming from China, still stands. Aikido is not Karate, Karate is not Aikido. The only thing they have in common is that they are both martial arts
@Cookin8709 No! They are totally different arts. Aikido developed from Daito-ryu but Karate was developed from Kungfu. Their philosophy and style are not the same.
one arm is that the style of aikido. it must be is it just hidden up in there? i need to look this stuff up. must be the same guy need to look at the last video
he still has one arm....and it's still valid considering most ignorant people think that aikido cannot be integrated into other fighting styles correctly because it's "fake." whether this is pure aikido or aikido combined with other martial arts (clearly the latter), this guy still proves it is very useful
@Expendable2010 "he still has one arm....and it's still valid considering most ignorant people think that aikido cannot be integrated into other fighting styles correctly because it's "fake.""
The video just proved Aikido cannot be used when strikes or anything other than Aikido techniques are allowed. The guy didn't use any Aikido because it doesn't work when someone is actually trying to hit you.
Huh? There is no aikido in this video whatsoever? Aikido does not involve any kicks or punches, it's about taking the force of the attacker and redirecting it to a) avoid getting hit, and b) ideally avoid hurting the attacker. As for those who dismiss it and say it isn't a martial art, get over yourselves.
Why do nearly all Aikido vids on youtube claim Aikido vs ...then they rattle off some ACTUAL martial art like Judo, Karate, Wrestling, Boxing etc etc .... then you watch the video and all it is one of the Aikido goofs dressed in said MA unifrom and he literally is tossing himself around trying to put over the "Aikido blackbelt" (aka pro wrestling BS). To me it is very disrespectful towards the legitimate Martial arts of the world. Put some faggot in a black dress in my dojo and he gets hurt!
@boxingninja1 Well that's no karate guy I promise you. That's an aikido guy posing as a karate guy and put the aikido art over and that's disrespectful to karate.
True Aikido has no rules, because in a real defense situation limiting yourself is a really big weakness. If you have to poke them in the eyes to protect yourself, you fucking do it.
you're name can only suggest you train in aikido aswell.
true whilst we do not have strictly offensive attacks, we can , and usually do incorperate palm strikes to the jaw and or strikes to the head and body within a defensive tecnique.
@evkero , regarding your comment about aikido only working on small children with down syndrome i can only conclude 2 things, 1. you're an idiot
and second you've never tried aikido.
i myself train in aikido and i can tell you now, im neither small ( at 6ft in height) nor do i have downs syndrome, and my sensei 9 in her 70's0 can throw me around quiet happily all day.
So yes , it does work, it also works in a street situation , a green belt at my dojo was jumped by 5 people and took them on
Some commenters seem to have missed a basic point about "styles": they are styles of training, but not styles of fighting.
Bruce Lee said, "I do not believe there is such thing as, like, a Chinese way of fighting or a Japanese way of fighting... or whatever way of fighting, because ...unless a human being has three arms and four legs, there can be no different form of fighting."
So the Aikido guy is using his Aikido training, even though you can watch the vid and not see "Aikido."
Course it's not real Aikido. Not real karate either. Sport version of both. Original intention self protection gnst mainly untrained street attackers. Aikido was avoid, neutralise, leave; karate, do damage, quickly; leave. Gd advice today. UFC - As real as it gets? No it's not - real is as real as it gets. Totally different. Aikido guy would go home before trouble starts, unless really have to fight; karate guy too. Disagree, then disagree with all covert military groups world wide too.
not even CLOSE to Aikido aikido fighters are much more defensive and would not want to bring the fight to ground work/wrestling they would put the opponent in to a submission
He could have easily done many of the techniques with only the one arm...to say he can't is to limit him, something Aikido is not about if one applies Ki and one point (both fundamental principals of Aikido). He is probably using a very martial style, focused on combat and adapted for competition - something Aikido was never supposed to be used for. I recognized attacks and pins from a lot of judo as well in his moves.
People here who say that's not Aikido are probably thinking of cool and "gentle-looking" Kata... You guys should consider a few things (at least this is my opinion): 1- the Aikidoka has only ONE arm, this means that most of the typical Aiki techniques cannot be performed; 2- Aikido is not meant to be sport, it's a self defence system, the video is a rare case of trying to use it in competition. 3- Atemi (striking), despite being exagerated in Kata, is part of Aikido.
@MrStrimex mainly japan, but you can find aikido dojos in the US... its hard to find one that actually focuses on reallife applications though... most american made aikido dojos are made for hobbyists and people intrigued by the art..

these guys suck, and it not aikido my dad is a black belt in aikido! and he could waste these two wimps. he can have me on the ground within 3 seconds in a position he can break my arm in!
Mr. Yamazaki is not a one armed man.... he be a one and a half armed man! With gigantic man plums and admirable aplomb!
He is an akidoka Dtrollman, with an eclecticism which many people neglect out of misplaced and farsical style adherence. Mix it up a bit to evolve.
