U should use special tongs to feed it. U can get them @ any pet store. with the tongs, its much safer, easier, and quicker than hand feeding

Why do you put it in the pillow case? I just put them in a small clearing in his cage. Also, do you just put them in water to defrost? Or microwave them too? I microwave my mice for about 30 seconds in warmish water before drying them and feeding them to Koda (My Stimpsons Python).

And @Kangri1618, My snake has only bitten me once, and it was because I haden't fed him for 5-6 weeks, and yes it did puncture slightly, it also made a bit of bruising around the area from the force he struck me.

You shouldn't feed your snake in it's cage, because you don't want to associate it's home with food. It's a good way to make your snake nippy, which might the reason as to why your snake bit you as you mentioned.

From the looks of it, it's a corn snake. I could be wrong though.

They are not generally poisonous, and any poison they do have is not fatal to humans at all. At most it will give you a rash if bitten.

And no they do not bite hard because their teeth are too small to even puncture the skin. If it does puncture it will be like getting pricked by a pin or something.

I believe you'll be good with a 10 gallon tank for starters. Once the snake starts to grow you'll want a larger tank, 20 or 30 gallons depending on the size.

Also depending on the kind of snake you want, the tank will either have to be big and wide, or big and tall. This is because certain snakes like to climb, so you'll want the tank to be taller so you can fit in some tree branches and other things for it to climb on.
