You pretty much described California in a nutshell. I shall correct you on one thing: California IS a small country. It's crazy! Look at the array of things we have, we do, & the time it takes to get from the Baja border to the Oregon border. We're a country inside of a country, and it's maddening in a way. Although it does mean we can support ourselves. :) It's maddening as well as everyone things you live in either the Bay Area or LA (where I live). There is a lot more, & much more beautiful.
