  • You just didn't know me

    You just didn't know me

    You JUST didn't know ME

    You JUST didn't know ME

Most of Bjork's songs are about love, and life. In this song (IMHO) she is explaining the great distance between what we feel and what we need.

  • one of the most beautiful voices in this World

  • amazing, love it !

  • 3:29-3:54 Love that bit. I remember this from the X-Files:Fight the future album.

  • In England? What? I'm from and in Cambridge... damn if only i went to this...!!

  • I HUGGED AND KISSED HER AFTER HER WANG THEATER PERFORMANCE BOSTON MASS - VESPERTINE TOUR!!

  • I saw all the Hunter live videos on youtube and this is by far the best.

  • she says "you just didn't know me" it just sounds like she says you "just did know me", cuz the -n't part is kinda fast. i do it all the time when i say "didn't"

  • what a gift ... so not fair but i can't help but love it anyway ;(

  • I just had the funniest thought: what if Bjork had a pop-esque choreography?

  • well,that's a piece of crap

  • i'm pretty sure she says "you just didn't know me"

  • I love Björk's parents !!!! I love Björk :p !!!

  • I think Lady Gaga rips too many pages from Bjorks book.

  • @krazycalvin At least she has good inspiration.

  • if someone doesn't get touched by this music probably will be deaf

  • if someone doesn't get touched by this music probably will be deaf

  • Che spettacolo!

  • For sure, best version!!!

But, can someone tell me what she says at 3:42? Is it Icelandic? What it means?

  • @fabiosbicalho she says "thegar hann bidur eftir mer" it means "when he waits for me" the rest is hopelandic

  • @gfxdsigner Thanks, you answered a question that had for years. I also really enjoyed the videos you posted. []'s

  • @fabiosbicalho No probl, glad i could help.. just tell me if you have any more puzzles to solve :)

  • "Live in Cambridge." Cambridge, Minnesota? Correct me if I'm wrong...

  • @prozie286 england

  • Björk did NOT write the opening song that plays before Hunter. It is called " Vísur Vatnsenda Rósu " and is written by Jón Ásgeirsson based on a poem by Vatnsenda Rósa (1795–1855). It's an old Icelandic lullaby.... Lovely rendition though

  • classic

  • LOVE this song. =]

  • Way to run expired blogs, nanortalik... 0 for 3? I smell FAIL..

  • Whiskey tango foxtrot? Why can't I see my post? Eh. Life hates me. :P

  • "You just didn't know me..."

I'm not 100% sure what it's supposed to "mean;" Bjork's lyrics, to me, are somewhat abstract. Heart the stuffing out them, tho. =)

  • @blackshuck1000 I heard her explain this song in an interview, its about a bird that hunts a certain way. Search bjork hunter interview on tube

  • @blackshuck1000 i think shes saying to the person shes addressing "the reason ur surprised by the way im acting is cause 'you just didn't know me...im a hunter...i bring back the goods'...if we're not getting along it's cause 'you just didnt know me'"

  • i think this is one of her best live performances. great instrumentals

  • Goosebumps when the bass starts.

  • Let's not compare Bjork and Lady Gaga.

It's like compare platic to human flesh.

  • Bjork is love, Lady GaGa is lust,

Bjork is naturally weird, Lady GaGa is forcefully weird,

Bjork is human, Lady GaGa is Reptilian.

    Day and night.

  • @trueaudience lolll true that

  • @trueaudience and whats up with the criticism?

    Follow the Bliss!!

  • @billyyfire

    Whatever suits you! ;-)

  • @trueaudience THANK YOU for the TRUTH!!!!!!!

    Cheers, love!

    - J

  • @JwahAmore31

    @JwahAmore31

Haha... I was just goofing around, in this case, there's no truth, only our preference... :P

This is def. one of my fav. Bjork's albums!! It blew my mind when it first came out, oh boy, countless listenings..

You got quite an interesting selections in your channel, are you Asian?

Cheers & love to you too! :P

  • @trueaudience Booooring

  • @BunnyCurryGuillotine

haha.... I feel the same way..... :D

  • @trueaudience It's sad that Björk fans think like this. And it's even sadder that there are twelve more who agree.

Why can't you just enjoy and appreciate the music?

  • @black1888tm

Do you enjoy and appreciate every music you listen to, whether you like it or not? Well.. I don't. I won't make this reference between Bjork and Lady Gaga until people start to comparing them. So far I've not found Lady Gaga's music appealing to me. I found her exaggerated performing expression and costumes are more motivated from grabbing attention and being merely outrageous..., and yet she's being praised so highly in her artistic expression.., well, I just don't see it....

  • @trueaudience From what I see, whoever praises Björk and talks bad about Gaga is just immature kid who think he's cool just because he thinks he's not mainstream (although, he is) and because he thinks he's different from others (although, he isn't).

    Nothing personal. $0.02

  • @black1888tm

Hahaha..., i'm old enough to have seen musicians/artists have created and experimented before Lady Gaga was even born, but Bjork has done something I've rarely seen yet.

  • @black1888tm

Just because Lady Gaga happened to be mainstream, and her music expression happened NOT appealing to me, doesn't mean I don't like other mainstream musicians, neither do I like all other NOT mainstream musicians, I don't like or dislike according to the merit of their popularity, I follow my heart.

  • @black1888tm

Bjork from the outlook, she does appear similarity in being outrageous, daring, weird, but I feel her expression is genuine and motivated from within..., I express how I feel.., that's all, if people like Lady Gaga or feel her artistic expression, that's great!! ; )

  • @black1888tm

I also found Bjork's lyrics often simple, but have great depth in them....

  • Is that opening song on the Homogenic Live album?

  • the sound guy is hot as f..ck. this is a great recording. wish i were there.

  • ME GUSTA muchisimo esta cancion!!! homogenic es un album maravilloso ¡LO AMO! :-) :-)

  • she rarely uses that 'you just didnt know me' but it is my fav when she does <3

  • You just didn't know me¡¡¡ wow

  • amazing song

  • When I play this song on my speakers you can feel your internal organs moving!!

I love it!!! check out my video by searching for Lasareath Bjork

  • With all respect, our muse looks kind of sexy in this one, doesn't she?

  • Great stuff! At the end she sings "You just didn't know me".

  • are these instruments violins, violas or both?

  • I have a feeling it's all low strings: viola and cello... Some knowitall might come correct me though :P

  • Is this from Homogenic Live?

  • cool merci

  • Hurry and come out with a new album Bjork!!!!! :)

  • I know there are many successful singers and bands in the genre, like Portishead, Massive Attack, Lamb and many many more... But she is the most successful...

Björk is The Queen of Trip-Hop.

  • Best concert ever! Thank god there are still artists like her in this world. Her ability to create 'structured chaos' is mindblowing. The violins, DJ and her voice are a brilliant match! In my opinion she the best artist in the univers (and beyond)

  • Agreed!!!

  • It's " You Just Ignored Me " !!!!!!!!!

  • @tentedlove007

It's "You just didn't know me"

(not "you just did know me" as it says in the description either)

  • you just didn't know me

  • Is this from the Björk live at the Royal Opera House DVD?

  • ...uhm... Have a look at the title... :P

  • No, this is from the Live at Cambridge DVD. All her live DVDs are AMAZING, I recommend buying them all.

  • so much talent

  • lovely, really compells one to try and challange ones perception of "music", and the sharp boxes of differing categories and styles.

    Blended various forms well.

  • when do they start talking?

  • This is a song that crosses pop-ballad-electronic genres, a real classic

  • You just ignore me!

  • No matter what else I listen to in music, I always return to this song. Bjork is a genius; a REAL artist.

This is such a great version. Is it from a DVD?

  • @12345random67890 yeah it's pretty fucking good. it is from a dvd.. she has a butt ton of live dvd's.. check them all out!

  • @12345random67890 yes it comes from Bjork - Live at Cambridge

  • bjork is soo beautiful every other artist with all do respect is just trying to catch up to her........

  • beautyful intro

  • lmao wow she was actually in cambridge where i bloody live and i missed it -.-

  • 30 Seconds to Mars sucks!!!!!

  • she makes me cry!!!

  • this show is wonderful

    i love soy muchi

  • it bjork's song. i love :*

  • jaja its the same song like 30 seconds to mars.....now the question is.... it is from her or from them????

    SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER THESE QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bjork released her's first.

30 seconds to mars just did they "own" version of the song..

  • of course it's from her, she begin before 30 seconds, she compose this song many years before we hear about 30 seconds to mars in 2003.

  • 30 seconds to Mars would never come up with something so phenomenal!!

  • Im not, but its cool if you do!!! I think Bjork is so much better, but thats just my opinion. I just never got into 30stm..im more of a Radiohead, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bjork, Tv on the Radio.. pretty much the more experimental bands.. I guess im weird =0)

  • woo bjork es mucho mucho mejor ¬¬

  • RADIOHEAD!!!!!!!!

  • great taste of music, do you know Porcupine Tree and Massive Attack? Think you'll like them

  • i want to be the most important person in her life ok

  • What sort of hardware is Mark Bell using here?

  • good question :)))

  • Fl Studio with some Behringer Synths i guess

    XD no not really

  • Magnifica, fantastic, Bjork, fenomenal

  • Great...

  • God. Pure creativity and talent. I just love it! She's so into her music, it's great. Haunting. Merci pour ces superbes videos!

  • This whole concert is brethtaking!

  • I guess she says "You just didn't know me"

  • God she is so beautiful.

  • and i know a lot of black republicans. lol. :P

  • The string opening is phenomenal. Did she compose that?

  • Google says Vísur Vatnsenda-Rósu is a traditional Icelandic song

  • beautyful

  • perfect

  • if you know what he has running into the sherman filterbank, tell me

  • i love this song.

  • Nope, Hardcore is defined by a particular sound, not a background or lyrics.

There's a HUGE Christian Hardcore scene.

  • i'm huge on rock too but i love the crap out of this woman and her work. being a rock person doesn't make u too cool for bjork, come on now. anyone with any type of appreciation or fandom of music would at LEAST recongize its brilliance if not enjoy it

  • Me also, my musical tendencies are toward Christian Hardcore but this doesn't make me not enjoy Electronica/Dance stuff.

I personally think that bjork is amazing.

  • i myself play the viola so.. CLASSICAL IS JUST A PIECE OF ART!!!

  • I wish I could.

    but it's just so expensive.

and cello is far easier lol.

  • ;_; I really love this version

    T-T She's great!

  • I love the beginning and the entire song, it's just awesome

  • yeah i like the beginning the song too

  • why is it so dark? i can't see her face

  • It's what we call a light show lol.

  • The police intercepted it :D.

  • guess Mr. Lopez wasnt the "Angel of Death" for her anyway haha :D

  • Makes shivers run down my spine!!!!!

  • that was 4 bestur92

  • I love Björk as much as the next icelandic persone and i only saw this vid coz i thought that she would just be singing the vasenda rósu song, and bachelorette is a much better song:Þ

  • i luv how the tension just builds. it fells like my heart's beating to the sound of the drums

  • I believe it was 1998. I live in Cambridge and missed this wonderful performance, but saw her live for the first time just last Friday 25/04 in Wolverhampton, where she and her band were stunning.

She has captivated me for years, now I'm 56 and just continue to be amazed by her.

    love you bjork

  • BJORKKKKKK....

  • she says 'you just didnt know me'

i know this because of the 30stm cover..which is amazing by the way.

  • yeah their cover stayed true to the song, and did it their way in fantastic fashion.

  • this was the first song I ever heard from bjork some 10 years ago. liked her ever since.

  • corn exchange? its not the junction...

  • woooooooooooow. good god she's amazing.

  • she says: you just didn't know me ;)

  • yeaaaaaaaah!! jajjaa i love this " cambalache"

  • i love this song. i really don't like 30 seconds to mars' version. she is amazing live!

  • I do like the 30 seconds version, the fact that they covered a Bjork song is amazing. But you still can't beat the original.

  • yeah, their version has grown on me, but the original is still like you said, amazing!
