  • Good Job. I also have a severe TBI. I would say to anyone with one who is down about it that it is not the end, life goes on. I can remember a few times that I wept after failing exams or forgetting things. Now I have a physics degree and a law degree and am a patent attorney (trainee anyway). We can do anything (except fly a plane or serve on a jury of course), it may not be what we once could do but we are alive. If you are walking OR talking revel in what you still have.

  • Ur personal story struck me as I also have a TBI. Ur struggles and triumphs r fantastic!!! I feel ur pain and ur difficulty in all that we do; but alas we r stronger than that!!! We r survivors!!! I feel the same way as u do!!! It has been many years since my accident as well; I facilitate the TBI Support Group in Olympia WA now!!! We will change the world with our determination!!!

  • You have incredible strength and perserverance. Best of luck.

As a young bicyclist 35 years ago, I was lucky to avoid hitting my head in a high-speed accident but had a serious knee injury. I am starting a campaign to urge people to use bicycle helmets in the L.A. area.

  • @prollymunna

Thank you for your nice comment. If there is anything I can do to help you spread your message in Philadelphia, let me know. Best of luck to you!

  • Like, this video is hosed because its resolution is low. Despite the video being hosed, its message comes through with stunning clarity, serving as inspiration to all. You go, girl!

  • Thanks for your words, Lisa. That "never, ever quite" message is so important, and you are really a testament to its power.

  • Thank you Lisa.............

  • Thank you for posting that video!!! I also am a TBI survivor (1987) and I also travel through hills and valley's as you did. I see your accomplishments as inspirational to us all!!! I just recieved a position as the Facilitator of the TBI Support group so I know "we" can do anything we want to do!!! God bless you,

    Josh

  • Thanks for your comments. Best Wishes to you!

  • you did a great job on this video, thanks for sharing the info>

  • I never thought I'd have a TBI. Last week- I did. It's plain to see that you are no failure. You have the difficult lot of a life that is a powerful testimony. God would not have placed this hugh task on the shoulders of somone too weak to bare it. You keep telling your story and inspiring people such as myself. Your on my prayer list.

  • I had two bouts of anoxia and three accidents resulting in brain inury. I, too push forward. I formed a brain injury support group and I am going on my second location. So, I never give up, too, Lisa. You are very courageous and beautiful on the inside and out. Thank you for your video. Youre very encouraging!

Sincerely, Gerard from Crown Point, NY

  • Thankyou for telling your story.

I also have a brain injury after surviving Encephalitis in november 2005.

I I no longer work as i suffer with extreme fatigue, pain in my head, legs and back and i use a walking stick when outside. I was 38 when i got my injury and have had many occasions since when life has been so difficult i have often wished i had died instead of surviving. But i have three kids who need me and are my reason for living .

God bless you... keep on keeping on.

  • Thank You Lisa... Your video is an inspiration to me...

  • Oh my god, put my face on this video and it is no different. I am 21 years post horrendous accident- I was passenger on motorcycle hit by a car. I was 17, I no about the lonliness. You could pass me on the street and never know but spend some time with me and it will become clear. I am a mom now, and that to me is an accomplishment from where I came from. I do run now, however I can't cook and my recall is pathetic. I still have yet to figure out how to send these to friends-

  • @tbisurvivor1987 your not pathetic

  • I am not pathetic- my recall is. I am sometimes so frickin brilliant on TBI, however I can not pass a written test on it or graduate from a Univerisity (I tried WVU.) I completed a half marathon (13.1 miles) in May... yea.

  • You're an inspirational human being!!! Respect and best wishes.

  • Im really glad you pushed yourself through im really proud of you.

  • Lisa, thank you so much for posting your story. As a survivor I agree that we need to always encourage each other to keep on keeping on (Gladys Knight's Pips sing). My son made a video of my story on Youtube's TBINBD channel. I hope you enjoy. You're a strong person and an inspiration to me.

  • I had the pleasure of being Lisa's friend from the first day of our fall term. The Creator put her path across all of ours and she brightened up all of our days. The accident happened and she went through a very difficult time in her recovery and associated emotions. When she came back she had the remaining effects of the brain injury, but had that glow in her eyes and that smile when she said hello to us. This is a beautiful person and it's easy to learn what she is teaching. Love you, Lisa

  • Lisa, I met you a couple of years ago thru Magee doctors. We had lunch and talked about our Tbi stories. I'm glad you are sharing this inspirational one with the world. Good luck! Kevin Gallagher TBI/survivor 96'

  • Thanks for making this video. It's quite inspirational. I had a TBI ten years ago, and like you, had to start over, time after time. I now have started my own business and am enjoying life, dealing with new physical difficulties since the brain injury (diabetes), but I have the courage to just get up and keep going, sometimes I really don't know where it comes from.

Thanks for your words. I stand behind you, so many of your words could have been my own.

  • Lisa - Your story is extraordinary and so are you. My father was affected by TBI - 7 years ago and life has never been the same. Like yourself, he displayed enormous courage and determination that I wish I had. He managed to go back to his old job(teaching) despite having aphasia and impaired speech. More power to folks like you, who continue to work hard, keep on going no matter what and continue to inspire. Thanks for your video and I wish you the very best.

  • Lisa, I am so proud of you. My father is Tom Myers who suffered a similar injury. His video is on youtube. You are giving me hope that he make keep progressing.

  • God Bless You

  • Lisa- So glad to see that you are happy. It's wonderful that you are helping others by sharing your own experiences overcoming tremendous adversity. Your positive attitude and determination are an inspiration for everyone - Carolyn Riley Chapman '93

  • I just wanted to thank you for posting this. My son suffered a TBI on April 1, and is just waking up from his coma. Thank you for your inspirational video!

  • Lisa,

You are truly incredible and such a strong person. You have been through so much and have such a great spirit. I am a classmate of yours from Dartmouth, and have a much better sense of your story after your video, which is very well done. I am so impressed by your perseverance and fight. Keep up the good work, you have lots of people cheering for you!

  • Lisa,

Thank you so much for posting this video. My boyfriend actually suffered from a tramatic brain injury on Feb. 17 of this year and is still slowing emerging from a coma. You are not only an inspiration to myself but will be a WONDERFUL inspiration to him as well when he is able to watch your video. Stay strong and thank you!!!

  • hi lis... i'm glad you told me to watch this.. whenever i tell someone about you , I always say that you're one of the strongest people i've ever met.

A "Hero" is not just someone who wins the game by scoring the last goal or making the final basket... A "Hero" is someone who gets up every day and makes the Every-Day Difficult

  • Lisa, thanks for sharing your story of determination, strength, and resilence. Your message is sure to inspire and bring peace to those affected by TBI. Keep sharing and being the bright light of love and kindness that I know you to be. Love you, Wendy (class of 1989)

  • Lisa, this is truly an extraordinary video that should be a invaluable resource to anyone with a similar injury. Your strength, your courage, and your incomparable conviction to recover from such a horrible accident is literally heroic. I also must compliment you with respect to your comments about your family's support throughout your ordeal. As we all know only too well, "It takes a village." God bless you!

  • Lisa, you might remember me from Dartmouth. Someone told me about your video, and I was just blown away. It is so great to see your face! You are an incredible inspiration. I can only imagine how hard it has been for you to keep fighting all these years. I can truly say that I'm proud to be your classmate. Keep fighting Lisa, and God Bless.
