Riding with dry, rusty chain> way to make sure that you dont get it's best mileage before you need to replace chain & sprockets.

To find out if you have any stuck/kinked chain links. Check the chain freeplay, then rotate rear wheel and then check the chain freeplay again then rotate rear wheel again, then... continue this process long until you have rotated rear wheel at least 2-3 full rotations. The chain freeplay should not get tighter or looser. If this happens, you have kinked chain links.

A dry, rusty chain is not the biggest problem you can have. I had been riding in winter, so my bike has salt from the streets on it in some places -.- It looks fugly and you can't get it off after it's on there for a few days. Sucks major balls... :-(
