His voice is great, lyrics are sweet. But quality-wise, the vocals sound like garbage. Too much bass, there's no clarity. Probably wasn't EQ'ed, Compressed, or De-Essed...I also heard a lot of clipping. Not everybody can be a sound engineer, stick to your day job.
Studer doesn't really bring out the rich nice sound of an analog without the aid of another signal processor like CLASP. I haven't heard the emulation of it yet so I do not know if it really does emulate it or not. Youtube audio doesn't really give me a full representation of the sound. =(
A Quick demo of the A800 feat. Thats it. I mix this song in Logic. I put it on the Mbus because I was only using a two tr. I put this video out within 10mins of grabbing the plug just so people could see the Feat. not as a lesson on how to use it.
yea this is meant to go across all your tracks .. i.e. a 24 multi track tape machine now of course u don't have to, you can put it where u want.. what ever sounds good.. but if your really in this business .. you would know that .. you would also know that the Waves MPX Master Tape i.e. 2 track tape.. is a tape plug for your master buss or mix busses and not for your individual tracks... but like i said it whatever sounds good to the ear..
@Dzoni73 +1 - you can use this on the mix buss just fine (and should), but the really cool part of this plug is that it's the only thing UAD has that covers saturation/distortion territory, and that is by nature best done as a track by track thing. I really wish they'd model the Thermionic Culture Vulture, that would be awesome.
The rappers have nice flow, ride the beat very well. Good song.
@Dzoni73 I'm sorry but you clearly don't know much about mixing if you're telling him to place that plugin on EVERY channel. That's like putting a reverb on EVERY channel instead of using fx sends. I don't know much about this plugin but you wouldn't put it on every channel, you'd put it on one buss and send other channels, or route their output to that channel!
@MrMikkiFunk this isnt reverb nor compressor, the purpose of plugin is to emulate multitrack tape recorder and to achieve closest characteristics of 2 inch tape you need to put it on every channel as you would record on real tape machine . watch A800 promo video by Universal Audio to understand better.
clearly you are the one that doesn't know much about mixing, im doing this for a living and coming from old days when we used nothing but 2 inch tape and big consoles.
@Dzoni73 Right fair enough. I just thought it was odd to put a plugin like that on every channel, even if they developed it to work like that. I know a lot about mixing mate and I have tracked to an a800 before, though its not something I would of made a habit of (expensive!) It just doesn't seem very efficient to put the same plugin over every channel, back in the days everything would have gone to the same tape anyway so surely that would be the same as putting it on your master out?

DOPE SONG
but your not using this plug properly
you need to calibrate studer properly based on tape model u using
and drive input lil bit more if you want saturation.
also dont use it on mix buss, but place it on every channel, its multitrack not mixdown recorder.
