Anyone who just eats meat/cheese and thinks they are performing Atkins, is not paying attention, and is doing their body an injustice of the good things that could be happening.

Pick up a copy of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002 edition), and the science will be explained.
Note that eating freely of bacon and many other things is not what it says. It says you may eat freely of fats and proteins, until you are satisfied. You may not eat freely of eggs as they contain carbs, and over 5 eggs would mean you could not get 75% of your carbs from the appropriate veggies. Doing some reading will actually show you that 75% of your carbs come from veggies.

Atkins is a way of eating that changes your bodies approach towards fuel for living. Atkins is a ketogenic diet which makes you use fat for fuel. Carbs are part of your diet, they are just controlled - limited to the threshold your body can handle while remaining in ketosis.
can u eat all day what u want, or just the 3 meals and 2 snacks? i´vé been eating like alla day, I mean everytime I´m hungry.. eggs or bacon. In the atkins web page it says: "you can eat freely .. eggs, bacon,..... etc or what does "freely" mean then?
eugh. i cant imagine eating all meat. (and no i'm not a vegetarian).
i think the best idea is to stick with high-fiber whole grain type carbs if you're gonna eat carbs. and go ahead, eat protein, but also eat fruits and veggies. you DO need carbs to sruvive. and limiting your fat intake is also good.
didn't dr. atkins die of a stroke or something when he hit his head on ice?
No. He slipped and fell on ice on the street. He had a severe concussion, slipped into a coma and died. He did NOT have a stroke or heart disease.
And those healthy 'wholegrain' carbs can lead to high insulin levels for many people. High insulin is linked to diabetes, cancer, heart disease, you name it.
Biologically the body does not need carbs. Not saying we don't want them or can't have them. But the body does not need them to function well.
Read the book before you even think it is all meat. The diet requires a large volume of veggies! In fact it is more focused on veggies than it is on meat.
Veggies contain unrefined carbohydrates, fiber, nutrients etc. He actually requires you to consume most of your carbs in a day from veggies. Read the book before you make an ignorant response.
The point of a controlled carb diet is to balance the good with the bad. The point of a ketogenic diet is to change your source of energy from carbohydrates to fat.
OUTSTANDING! I lost 180 pounds on the Atkins diet in 2004 and I shed 30 pounds in the first month and 40 more pounds in month two, so I'm familiar with the quick weight loss this way of eating produces.
Also, you're camera man is a very good speaker. While i was watching the video I thought he sounded like an infomercial speaker, then I saw the end of your video... he IS an infomercial speaker!!! lol.

Veggies are categorized in carbs so either Dr. Atkins was scientifically incorrect or stupid. Possibly both. They have natural sugars.
