  • A Clockwork Orange brought me here

  • Looking at the commercial now in 2012 it seems the way she threw that hammer was a little strange? Reference to London 2012 olympics? Seems a little too weird for me...

  • Scary..... the world is starting to look more and more like this, in fact they just need to change the date from 1984, to 21st century!

  • who's the scary man on the screen? looks familiar.

  • I couldn't agree more - about the irony. I was very nearly arrested on Wed. for standing outside the Santa Rosa Apple Store - waiting to replace a defective power cord for my laptop. My crime was not following orders! Most of the ordeal is on YouTube. Take a look.

  • Hey simpsons copied this

  • First release if this promo during the Superbowl! Amazing....

  • HOLY SHIT 1984!!!!!!!!

  • Half-Life 2 for Mac brought me here.

  • the guy on the screen looks like the sniper from team fortress 2.

  • It aired once.. why? Because the guy who was supposed to press the "Deny" button saw those bouncy boobs and his finger slipped onto "Proceed" button.. Just think about it... bouncy boobs. The only reason it aired at all.

More uncommon trivia: This was actually a double ad coalition between Apple Inc. and Hooters restaurant.

Yes, folks, apple and hooters causes fall of man, Apple and Hooters created first internet porn. Maggintosh is Yiddish for masturbation. The conspiracy continues.

  • Thumbs up if Steve Jobs biography sent you here!

RIP Steve, you are a true inspiration!

  • This ad is extremely ironic today.

  • I Dont Get That Commerical

  • @Thomaje67 you must have been born in the 90s or later

  • Wozniak is the shit.

  • What I want to know is who will play Steve Jobs in the movie @ his life???

  • RIP Steve Jobs

  • You were supposed to destroy the dark side, not join it!

  • RIP Steve.

  • R.I.P Steve Jobs - A TRUE INNOVATOR

  • I liked the part where Apple's brownshirt secret police come ransack your house for suspicion of stealing their crap iPhone 5 prototype.

  • still the BEST!

  • oh i get where the part where comic book guy destroys the screen in the apple store comes from

  • amazng lol

  • Dafuq?

  • this was loosely based on the book/movie '1984.'

  • This is Double Plus Good

  • Amazing that Apple as a corporation is seen as creating mindless drones out of their consumers...but Microsoft who for years had a monopoly and gave people no other option but buying Microsoft products is seen as this glorious company that everyone should bow down too...get over it people!!!!

  • @tey420 I dont get it how did they have a monopoly when mac was around and IBM as well? And wasn't macintosh created first than apple?

  • @Mystikal22693 i mean first than windows

  • @Mystikal22693 Macintosh was the name of the computer, apple is the name of the company that made the macintosh.

  • @DEATHBYFLYINGCDS i know that lol i kinda cleared that up in the comment after that cause i made a mistake in my last sentence. I meant i dont get how microsoft had a monopoly on computers when macintosh had computers too doesnt make sense to me.

  • @tey420 Microsoft has always given alot more options than apple ever has. Whereas apple tries to take over every aspect of your life, rather than just making software they make hardware, they make the cords, the accessories. With every single apple product you buy, they force you to buy 3 other in the process, and through that they get you to buy 3 more, all at prices they tell you to pay, because they don't give you a choice. Big brother is watching you, apple is watching you.

  • This isn't about Microsoft, it's about IBM.

  • This isn't about Microsoft, it's about IBM. The battle at this time was mainly about hardware, even though Apple provided bot the hardware and software. It was thought that IBM was more controlling than Apple.

  • Is that a Hooters girl?

  • There's just too much irony here to even describe in under 500 words.

  • Boot Camp, anyone? The thing that surprised me when I installed Boot Camp was that Apple had at least three possible drivers for each device class. They talk about tight integration then they Just Don't Do It.

  • Ha, Simpsons made fun of this ad.

  • A garden of pure ideology... pretty much sums up and perfectly explains today's Apple

  • HEADSHOT!

  • It grows the brand!

  • PC guys like to look sexy with their computers.

Mac guys have sex with their computers

  • that dude on that is on the computer looks like slugworth from wille wonka and the chocolate factory lol and yes i know what there talking about by 1984!!

  • A gay'er version of 1984

    Still does not want

  • hey! we were watching that!

  • It's only ironic to those who don't understand what the original commercial was about - the stifling of people's imaginations in order to lock them in to inferior products (the metaphor here being the propaganda used to prop up the inferior governance depicted in Orwell's book). Breaking the propaganda paves the way for superior products. Freedom here doesn't come from open systems, it comes from better systems. Apple continues to deliver on that front.

  • @5omethingmi5sing

    BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA

  • ihate

    ipod

    :P

  • hmmm, i finally understand the parody of this commercial in futurarma.

  • The girl is an athlete and model named Anya Major - the same girl who was in Elton John's "Nakita" video.

  • @jimd3500 Pardon, make that "Nikita".

  • Comment removed

  • guys guys calm down. Each platform has its own advantages and disadvantages (ie. dev support, programs, and the like). and besides, it's all a matter of opinion. That's all it is. So please.. let's just leave it and that... or try linux!

  • Comment removed

  • i dont get it.

  • They took that commercial in Futurama!

  • Is that a Hooters girl?

  • For the best viewing experience, this should be seen on an Apple iPad.

  • "Hey, we were watching that!"

  • @Tlaminks Nah he says we are one people.

  • Not a mac fan, but I love the commercial!

  • I love Macs and have ever since first seeing this commercial. Not for Window drones—they just don't understand and never will. Sorry, it take more than mindless hindsight to say I told you so.

  • @verywest

So you love a product because of a commercial, and said love of said product grants you the clarity to see how people who don't love that product are drones? No, I don't believe I ever will understand.

  • @CzarOffbeat — Not at all, I prefer Mac to Windows simply because Macs are better in every way and any reasonable person would agree. The fact that so few people do tells me how many reasonable people there are. See, you don't understand, so you? veryWest

  • Who's to throw the hammer on Apple now?

  • @niva that's google's job now

  • Oh the irony.....

  • I dislike Apple, but this commercial is badass.

  • Jesus Maria - What the ...

  • best...commercial...EVER!

  • """replace big brother with steve jobs""" how long before andy rubin descides to turn steve jobs into napolean from animal farm haha

  • Irony

  • classic commercial!

  • Apple is a shit!

  • Only two words : Half-Life 2 !!!

  • Comment removed

  • nice sport bra

  • Free Wikileaks!

  • Начало большого пути)))

  • This is the same commercial as the 1984 game Half-life 2

  • Ridley Scott should make a god damn 1984 type of movie. The One they made in 1984 is already a Classic, but Ridley Scott could really expand on it, with The Resistance and shit.

  • Flash forward 10 years.... The ibrainwash! Bwah ha ha ha!

  • all i can say is derp herp derp herp derp derpity dumb herp

  • bouncing titties :D

  • "Apple 2010" is worst than "1984"

  • I wonder how many people clicked on this just to see that girl's tits bouncing up and down.

  • Man people either really love or really hate Apple... I for one, am on my Apple laptop like white on rice. Every now and then I use my buddy's PC to test websites that I'm building, and it feels like jerking off with my left hand.

As far as gadgets go (iPod, iPad, iPhone, etc) I definitely understand shopping around and finding something cheaper that works just as well, but as far as computers go, I don't even see what the debate is... Apple all the way

  • lol its still the beta vrs vhs debate .. vhs aka windows won ... this ads a bit sexist? all the drones are men the savior is a woman what a liberal apple ploy lmao considering al gore owned what 1/4 of the stock

  • I am a Linux user but I respect the Mac OS. ;)

  • futurama .... jajajajaja

  • hahaha fail!

they meant to say "and you'll see why 1934 WILL be like 1984"

  • keep in mind that almost every apple product is always identical and never unique, and the drones in this commercial are not so different than the apple products.......

  • I'm not a 'Mac fan boy' but doesn't it make sense having a computer with quick, easy to use interface and virus-free usage? I had a PC for years but it seemed retarded to keep it in comparison.

Are PC users simply too retarded to get to grips with using a Mac?

You PC users can all sit there with your slow, virus-filled computers (which by the way are getting over so more similar to macs everyday i.e Windows 7)....bitterness springs to mind.

  • @StokeJase Umm Dont say that Windows are all Virus Filled, the people who end up like that think "Ohh i dont need Anti Virus" *Clicks Free Porn add* "Damn now i cant use my computer" I have use my PC for 2 years now and not once have i gotten a virus. And Just you w8 you Fanboy. Because the more people who use Mac's The More hackers will waste their time hacking your so called "Un-hackable system"

  • @StokeJase PC users like choice. Remember choice? Steve Job's seems to have forgotten it. Now he's the guy on the screen in his own commercial.

  • U can have tht mac in ur hand right now....im actually typing with it

  • Now youll see that in the 21st century this shit looks old and gay

  • Now you will see why 1984 was like 1982

  • I find the Apple followers marching to the same rhythm as in th AD. I felt it in a Apple shop in Munich last month - people standing in long lines while arrogant employees ignored them.... seems like the Apple is tipping over... and it makes me sad

  • Comment removed

  • "Think different" became "Think like us."

Apple and Steve Jobs have become Big Brother, patronising their customers, who in return even celebrate "Holy Steve" for taking their rights to privacy and to using their dearly paid property the way they feel like in exchange for making things "easier."

  • In other news apple are also likely to introduce GPS tracking of ALL iphones...

    IRONY much, people? XD

  • Too bad Windows is still the better OS after 26 years.

  • @XtraRare81 Windows is not Better !!!

  • EPIC

  • whatever happened to commercials like this?

  • what a tangled web Apple weaved . . .

  • Even if the hammer hit them on the head, the transfixed iBots would not get it.

  • "Thanks" to the Bilderberg Group whom Apple's owes its success, the "1984" can turn real at any moment now.Only The Universal Love will save us.Life is a daily miracle.

  • @artmanrom If they could do it, why haven't they yet?

  • Breeeeeennnn... HAX!!! D: HAX WITH A HAMMAR

  • I like this ad for some reason

  • SANDVICH

  • Google Andriod(open source) is throwing that hammer now. Apple has become a prison(closed source)

  • that jogging babe is like 55 now, lol

  • hahah, brilliant. Steve and his fanboys :D

  • hewlett parker throwing a hammer

  • and now the Apple fanboys are the mindless drones

    OH THE IRONY

  • Gizmodo!

  • I like this ad, well done. It's ironic though because apple has created a mindless army of citizens willing to buy any doohickey with the title I( insert blank.)

  • so good

  • Really, someone aught to digitally replace "Big Brother" with Steve Jobs. No tethering? Thanks Steve.

  • Actually Apple fully supports tethering. It's shitty ATT that doesnt. All the other countries have tethering and have had it for years.

  • i am am avid mac user/fan, but this looks like a steve jobs keynote (a little low on the 'magicalness' though).

  • Yet nowadays (most) mac users look more like the people watching the screen than the one throwing the hammer.

  • not really, but whatever...

  • @foxd3n bullshit

  • Oh the irony.

  • Not everything is politics dumb fucker.

  • A bunch of Demoncrats at work.

  • i dont get it >.>

  • @zorokid 1984 is a book, a quite good one, while at it, which tells the tale of a dictatorial government which adoctrinates their citizens and manipulates thoughts. Just read the novel, you'll understand everything.

  • title?

  • @zorokid 1984, hence the in-joke.

  • i realy thought that was the year it was made (now i feel dumb)

  • @zorokid it was also the year it was made

  • cause your too young :)

  • apple was BEYOND ahead of it's time that shit was 100's of years ahead it's amazing the technology they were testing back in the 80s

  • Hm, how'd they get film of Steve Jobs from the future into that commercial?

  • hhhmmm, is that why Hippies like apple?

I had always thought it was for the image and had nothing to do with function.

I despise the apples we have at work. they don't work, and if they do work they are ridiculously slow. lock up constantly. real crapfest.

  • A garden of pure ideology!

  • hey i was watching that. Just before you bitch about what i said. YES WE ALL KNOW THEY SAY THAT IN FUTURAMA WHOOPTY FUCKING DOO

  • nice add

  • My favorite commercial ever.

  • tru dat

  • so thats how Lincoln freed the slaves :D

  • Heyyyy we were watching that!!

  • futurama!!!! :D woot

  • yep thats what you get when you buy an apple a blonde woman throws a sledgehammer at your giant tv freeing your slaves... at least when windows screws up i get to keep my slaves....

  • @jvaughn94 HAHAHAH omfg so funny hahahaha

  • "Nineteen eighdy four".

  • It's a reference to a novel called 1984, it's a dystopian representation of the world. Which I guess is similar to this ad

  • Remember when Apple used to be different? Now they're just another faceless corporation screwing its customers.

  • first of all this is a great ad offering to be different......like Apple!

  • Alguem traduz? *>*

  • This video is cool......Apple should have ran it more than they did. Apple had a good video.

  • Explaining part 1:

In 1984 The novel it portraits a future of people controled by fascists using techology like the television, they tell us what to think.

In this ad Apple tell us that we will have more options to choose that the TV (and IBM computers monopoly will start to fall in pieces)

this ad is so epic because it predicts that this new competition will spark a revolution in technology.

  • This video is referring to George Orwells 1984 novel. It portrays a futuristic dystopian society of mind controlled slaves. Much like we have to today. This commercial is nothing more than "Revelation of the Method". Big brother is telling you what things are going to be like, so that you do not freak out when the time comes.

  • I dont understand!!!! its frustrating it is so famous but I dont get it

  • Explaining part 2 that in time will give the people the power to reach to each other with the internet and the blogs and without the filters of partisan networks. Debate and evenprevent the dark future that happens in "1984"

  • tenia que ser una mujer

    fuerte, valiente y decidida

    gracias apple

  • I saw this commercial like 9 times but I still don't get it?

  • god youre ignorant read the book 1984

  • wow. what does 1984 have to do with apple?

  • lol this is a apple comercial

  • LOL!!!

  • Thats not how Democracy works...

Lemme Guess, your one of thoes people that buys into conspiracy.

    I find your name offensive

  • I hate the fact that americans dont have to vote, It should be mandatory like here in Australia.

Therefore the outcome can be determined by a whole nation not just 40%
