@ATVTVCOM Yes. I guess anything over a 400 has too much compression to be able to be pull-started. Hell with this thing if the battery goes dead, you can pull start it or just jump it (if you're too damn lazy to pull start it!). Another thing to - this 376 suzuki motor starts on a dime. Just three pumps of the primer and it starts like it's fuel-injected - no matter the temp.!
@gadgetguy4000 While I grew up with conventional clutches, and the move to semi-automatics was weird, now we've spent so much time on CVTs that riding a semi-auto was hard. But, I do wish all UTVs were semi-automatic transmissions... And if you ever get the chance to ride a Honda Rubicon in ESP mode, jump at the chance! That is by far the best shifting tranny I've ever ridden.....
@ATVTVCOM really? i have never driven a honda quad besides our neighbours little old 50cc one back in the day :) I grew up with yamahas and suzukis and have only ridden a few others but by my opinion the suzuki king quad is very good it is extremely tough!! I rolled it probably 4 times and one times was down a large hill and i crashed into another quad when i didnt have any reaction time to another quad stopping suddenly. It is very reliable too! Had it 3 years...never let me down :)
i just bought my 2011 kingquad 400 asi and was told basically the same thing about adjusting the valves @ 30 hours and that all the fluids need to be changed also , i agree with the changing of the fluids but to me adjusting / checking the valve clearance that soon seems unnecessary any input ?
@aj9270 Fluids for sure. The valve adjust is certainly questionable. On one hand, the Japanese (especially Honda) are known for such very close tolerances on their engines so the valve adjustment may be a good idea. On the other hand, even close build tolerances seem to dictate something longer than 30 hours or about 300 miles. On the final hand ;-) that would be the single most important maintenance item to an engine for long term reliability. If you have to pay, do it at 50 hours ;-)
They want 342 dollars to perform the service. They told me it voids my warranty if I don't get it done. The warranty is only 12 months but I guess I just wanted to know how critical it was to the life of thr motor. Thanks.
I just bought a 2010 model with an automatic. They told me at the dealer that it was very important that I bring it in at 100 miles for a valve clearance check. Is this really necessary? Are these quads known for valve problems??
I just pick up a 2010. It Canada it comes in blue and red for 2010. I picked up a blue one and unlike in the US the 2010 that I got has the digital speedo and fuel injection so I got an end of the season 2010 and its the same as the 2011. It's a sweet ride at a reasonable price. I like the size of this machine. It does everything I need.
The 2011 has fuel injection, a limited slip front end, and digital odometer and stuff. I'm thinking real hard about getting one, Suzuki has always been by far my favorite moto/atv brand. My father and I both had ozark 250's, black and yellow, and a buddy had an eiger 400. Never had any trouble out of them, besides my fathers ozark and his buddys eiger ending upside down in 6 foot of creek water, lol. 1 spark plug, air filter and carb cleaning later they ran like new ^.^
my 2008 4oo had and has a lot of trouble. 1. the foot pedal and rear brakes when touched lock up and make a god awful shake and noise. 2. the brake light stuck on and blew fuses every 5 mins, then made the loudest backfire you'll ever hear my friend was behind me when it happened and thought someone shot at him and left me. after getting the brake light fixed it wont hold back at all it just pops or backs off but thats it suzuki said they cant fix the brakes? what the heck. please tell me why.
@77LincolnContinental In cases like this, your local dealer has to be your best friend! That's really the only way to get something done. I've heard before that Suzuki is not very good at dealing with problems, but if your dealer has a good mechanic it should be a rather easy fix - or so I think ;-)
also is this the same egine as the eiger or is it a little differt and does the qualty of the plastc and the materials on par with the older eiger . and have you heard good are bad about the moter ?
you got the auto i think the semi is nice and dependable dont got to worry about belts busting on long trips or belt slipping whenit gets wet i think this and a full out manual and the hondamatic are the best quad trannys still being made im not a big fan of cvt after my 05 polaris 600 twin i dont like them drove it easy around the farm still blows head gaskets and belts and i bought it new this is something im looking for
How much are they and I would say 300 to 350$ email ezrajames7@comcast.net

@gadgetguy4000 We had it for several months. The only problem we had is we found we were unused to foot shifts ;-)
ATVTVCOM 4 months ago
@ATVTVCOM foot shifts? you mean semi-automatic? Ive been using those my whole life it would be weird to turn to a CVT quad!

@joegee71 That's not right. I believe that the dealer is lying to you about voiding the warranty. Plus, adjusting the valves is not a 342.00 job!
