House music hasn't been around 40 years. It started in the late 80's. Garage takes its roots from a number of influences, 2 step, dub and reggae and also from house (hook lines) but the non syncopated beats do not come from house.

nonsense... Garage will always be classed as a subgenre of house music, regardless of how 2step was derived, the prime example commercially, being Tina Moore's - Never Let You Go back in the 90's...

No, House music is around 40 years old originally... the 2step and dub innovation behind the 'Garage' sound was derived from House music. Perfect example, Robin S - Show me luv back in 1995(ish?) and MJ Cole was a pioneer from late 1997
