Loved this movie TO DEATH growing up. If Gall Force or Project A-ko were being shown on Sci-fi, they took precedence over all my other shows on Saturday morning.
Used to re-enact the entire plot with stuffed animals and everything as a kid.
XD
Sailor Moon is the first one I watched, but Gall Force is definitely THE movie that initially got me into anime.
I liked this movie a lot. The storyline was great: A savage war that had gone on for eons, both sides develop a superweapon that can atomize both sides, a secret plan to unify both races by creating a third race using a process that kills off most of the unwilling "Test subjects", and it all ends with the planet blowing up and implying that human life came from the last two survivors that were sent to earth. They don't write them that well anymore.
Battlestar Galactica really ripped this off, what with the cross-breeding, Adam and Eve, "Happening again" thing (except this is more hopeful), etc...
@heyheyyouyeah "Ryoute Ippai no Journey" (A Journey with Both Hands Full) The subtitles for the song are actually wrong ("journey" and "Johnny" sound exactly the same in Japanese, which is probably what led to that).
wow...I havent seen this anime in over ten years...this was still when anime was just starting to come out in the states...Now anything and everything wants to be like anime...I miss the old days, like when this anime was put out.
I remember watching this as a 7 year old kid. My reaction at the end of the movie was like: "That was MOON? Rumy and that boy are like Adam and Eve? And all that hapened eons ago?! HOLY SHIT!!!"
@lindsaylohansucks They had to stay and operate the self-destruct/terraform reverse because it destroyed all the Paranoid and Solanoid soldiers (I think at the time, those guys were all that remained of either civilization) to keep them from the Human.
this movie is indeed confusing. Especially the ending. Like others, even now I don't understand it. But regardless of the confusing ending, this movie is still kick ass!
This doesn't make any more sense now than it did ten fucking years ago.
Tell me there's somewhere you can find the intricacies of the plot explained officially, preferably translated into English because I haven't even the slightest knowledge of moonrunes.
The ending is great !! and what do you know that was the moon lol. man these guys sure know how to write good stories with twisted plots, i should've watched this movie long ago. thanks for the upload.
i did friend! i got to see the other 2 movies on Veoh unfortunately ,the copies over there are RAW. Quality is superb better than this copy here on YT but no english subs. i understand some japanese words but not everything hence i was lost most of the time lol. i thank wikipedia for briefing me on a couple of things though. not a bit bad, too bad the ending of the last one is somehow sad but that tends to happen when the line is not drawn, if you know where to see them subbed let me know, TY
Almost bought all 3 movies.. i saw this nice bundle on BestBuy and placed the order right away, too bad later on i received an email from them saying this copy was out of stock and there was no way in getting ahold of it, i later found the same bundle on Amazon i think for over $100 what a ripoff!! i might have to buy these DVDs separately. thanks
Actually the device they used to destroy the planet was the same device use to give life. Anyone familiar with the Genesis project of the star trek universe will know this scene makes sense
I like how the ending alludes that Patty's son and Rumy were the Adam and Eve of the human race on Terra (Earth), and everyone was reincarnated into the present.
why?!

If I remember correctly, those spires are actually terraforming platforms. I guess what they did was simply reversed the process.
