Randi Rhodes is an idiot, which this does nothing but help demonstrate. Just because you support the military does not mean you should feel an obligation to join. I also support fireman, police officers, doctors, etc... and I don't feel the need to join all of them. I support the military and if you want to join then that's fine, but don't make the stupid blanket statement that you should join something just because you support it. If you honestly believe that then you're as dumb as Randi.
@jec7483 You support the military? How? Are you sending care packages? Are you lobbying to make sure they get protective equipment? Are you working at call centers for veterans who are having a hard time? Are you volunteering at the USO? Are you lobbying for pay and benefit increases? Are you saying you are willing to pay more taxes to support the war effort? Or are you just sticking a bumper sticker magnet on the back of your car?
Having had family members in the military, I have done many of those things that you discussed. Regardless, what kind of asshole are you to try to set the standard of what it means to "support" something? Seriously, who appointed you as the expert on what it means to support something? Answer me. You're obviously some backwoods liberal idiot in the hills of west virginia that hasn't gotten out enough, but that's no excuse for your stupidity. Oh yeah, I also have the bumper sticker.
@jec7483 That's good. Being an actual veteran myself (WVARNG, 2000-06, OIF, 2003-04), I've heard a lot of conservatives like you complain about spending and proposing an across the board spending freeze or cut, but what you don't realize is that this means that our VA hospitals will be underfunded, so that means that a lot of veterans and soldiers will be hurt. Friends who opposed the war sent me care packages, and they also fought to make sure that VA got the funding it needed. That's support!
I commend you for your service. I think it is great you decided that you wanted to take the path to being in the military, but not everyone is meant to be in the military. For you to say people that support it should all be in the military is dangerous and stupid. Why would alienate those that agree with what you were doing, if you were in fact over there? Your VA hospitals are underfunded because of overspending in welfare and other programs.
@jec7483 They are underfunded because they are not treated as an entitlement, and because the previous administration voted repeatedly to cut VA funding by underestimating the number of veterans who would use the service.

Also, you didn't answer my questions. Are you in the highest tax bracket? Are you? I doubt it, so how do you support any entitlement programs? You're not the most involved and contributing the most to make a difference. How about Obama? Did you support him? What did you do? Are you at his press conferences directly involved, or did you do what you could and maybe vote and give money to the cause to help those directly involved? Once again, your standards of support are ridiculous.
@jec7483 In answer to your question, no, I don't make more than $300,000/year. As far as the 2008 election, I knocked on doors in the general. (I was a Clinton supporter in the primary when it came to my state. I supported Richardson early.) Your argument is ridiculous on its face. Supporting a war that one is able-bodied enough to go to but refusing to do so is the reason why so many are on their fourth and fifth tours of duty.
Also, what point are you trying to make? Are you saying that you should only support something if you're directly involved? If so, then you shouldn't be a liberal. Considering that over half the country now does not pay taxes and many of those people voted for the Obama idiot that was elected as president, the large part of your political following is based on votes from people that have no stake in the country. I guess they're not real supporters either, right?
@jec7483 Nice try, but it's nearly half of the country that doesn't pay income taxes. From dollar one, everyone pays FICA taxes. If you want to blow your top because of a simple question that I asked of how you support our military, you could at least get your facts straight.
Nice try, but it's nearly half the country that doesn't pay ANY taxes. They get all of the money back. I'm not my top on anything, you're the one making absurd claims that anyone that supports something must be involved. You sound like a complete idiot. Do you support universal healthcare? What have you done to make it happen? Did you support Obama? How did you get involved with his administration? Your entire argument is outrageous, so yes, I am surprised by your stupidity.
You're probably just some idiot WVU grad, which has academics on par with a community college. I don't care how people support our military, just that they do. Every little bit of support helps. It's quite outrageous that you try to set a standard of support. Are you in the highest tax bracket? @jec7483 Every little bit of support helps? Well, then how do you support our military? It's just a simple question. As far as "trying to tell others how to live their lives," if you are of military age, and you support these wars, that is telling other people who live (or possibly lose) their lives.
Yes, every bit of support helps. That should not be a difficult concept for you to grasp. I said how I have done many of the things you listed, having had family members in the military. You are attacking those that are trying to help our country recover from your party spending our country into another depression. @jec7483@jec7483 Who is trying to help the country recover? The people whose tax cuts led to huge deficits? The ones who ignored warnings from the banking system? The ones who voted repeatedly against funding the VA?
The simple fact is that the military is stretched thin. We have people on their fourth and fifth tours of duty. In WWII, 9% of the total population served in the military. During these wars, it's about 1%.
@wvu05 And a lot of those people didn't wait to be drafted, either, like my grandpa who enlisted at the age of 26 despite having flat feet. Come to think of it, JFK used his family connections to get INTO the military, unlike so many in the next generation who used it to get out. Answering your country's call of duty is patriotic. In many ways, I wasn't the ideal person for the military (I have flat feet and depression) but I joined anyway because I wanted to serve my country.
As you have served, you're obviously free to have your own opinion. While you question the validity of my support for the military, I respect your opinion because of your service. I believe you're wrong, but this argument accomplishes nothing and has become tiresome, so I am done. Thank you for your service.
It's very pathetic. We get weak-ass, "I'm not a leftist but I play one on the radio and the TV" types like Randi Rhodes, instead of an authentic, independent, critical thinking leftist. We need a radical structural analysis, not a soft and wet liberal complaint by the likes of Ms. Rhodes. She crowds out real opposition to the one party capitalist state we live in. Additionally, her hang up and shout down of Ralph Nader on Air America was a radio punk out of the worst sort. She's soft core.
@preemptivestrike20 I was there, and there was no strategy, and when I was in the Kurdish areas in 2004, before we went, we were told that they had fights with each other, but they liked us. When I actually got there, I found out that nothing could be farther from the truth.
The real winner of this war? Iran. They were held in check by Iraq; now, Iraq is their biggest ally. It's certainly not the Iraqi people.
Nobody should enlist for this invasion. We need to stop slaughtering Iraqi civilians and destroying their neighborhoods. We need to leave the fkn oil alone and bring our soldiers back home. We need to use cleaner renewable energy and stop letting these oil tycoons run our gov't and kill our people.
@ShaggyShagz13 I'm with ya on that. I'm a canadian forces reservist, and think we should get tha fuck outta there. But if people stop enlisting they'll probably just start a draft
i don't like the left wing pro aborts and people that worship political correctness but he said it all. he won't fight for soemthing he supports. he wants someone else to fight for it. typical right wing chicken hawk.
@MrMojoRisinII 'Chickenhawk'.............The dumbest word & idea that libtards have ever come up with. I guess you can't support your local police unless you wear a badge too right? Oh the ignorance.
@fuklibs Randi said military men and women comes back from the war as liberals...Not true..I left as a college educated, black professional with liberal leanings...I came back as a proud African American conservative....Thank God my liberal friends never called me a 'chickenhawk'..they supported me.
@norr4636 And they're too stupid to realize that "chickenhawk" is another name for the 'American red tailed hawk'.........a VERY bad ass bird! LOL! Check em out here on Youtube.
"Patriotism is the organized interests of the ruling class." ~ Mikhail Bakunin
William Kristol, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfield and their ilk -- for all of you right-wing nit-wits who don't have the motherfucking brains to catch on yet -- represent America's ruling class. @LordOftheMind If I go by your logic...this past election of all the REPUBLICAN minorites elected to congress and governorships....that means a lot of 'whites' voted for them..so taken for a joke is not a rational statement. Second, I'm a conservative before being a republican...that means I'll support democrat/or republicans who is conservative.
this is where your logic is wrong, try running for senate where they vowed the gi bill century ago, just because you black. you can be republican in Madagascar and still consider yourself a democrat in china, but you cannot go against the odds when it comes to 'white' policies.
This cunt makes me sick spouting off about her "service". SHE WENT AWOL from the Air Force & served in New Jersey while TRYING to become a mechanic but she's too fucking STUPID & couldn't handle it, so she just walked away!
What a cowardly little boy. "just because I support the war doesn't mean I should make any sacrifice." The people who wanted war should be sent to fight it.
Nothing pisses me off more than Chickenhawks wearing Brooks Brother's suits saying "I have friends serving in Iraq." Douchebags like this is why I'm in favor of re-instituting the draft because these ass clown wouldn't be so quick to start wars if they knew they or their kids would have to go fight.
Imagine that silver spooner in Afghanistan/Iraq? Fucking faggot,it's always the same, these rich privledged weak fags always talk tough and are all for war but they never go,it makes me sick,i'd like to punch holes in that soft gutless rich boy
"i support the yankees. it doesn't mean i wear the uniform." hahaha! 'perfect' analogy, numb nuts. you need to qualify for the yankees; the military is open to all comers. well, unless you're gay.
yankees really? this jerk is comparing serving to playing for the yankees, what a douchbag! when is the last time a new york yankee had a limb blown off while playing baseball. the right really needs a dose of reality. fuck them all!
@earwaxhalo, what randi, a veteran, is trying to say is it is easier to preach war than it is fight it and if this twit is all for war then he should serve and then he can talk!
@mrcspan so because someone supports the war means they should automatically enlist?
I agree, it's easier to support a war than to actually participate in one, but she shouldn't say imply that all veterans end up being antiwar. I fought in OIF and I still support it, 100%.
You're right...she's wrong about the whole "once you serve you're suddenly a liberal" - that's flat out not true. I know plenty of people who have served and are not liberals. However, all of those who have served and ACTUALLY SAW COMBAT come back as liberals -- unlike the Republican Vets who did their stent in the military guarding coconuts in Hawaii -- now that would have been a true statement
@ScipioXXX Fuck no. All my friends and myself saw ACTUAL COMBAT in Fallujah and we still support the war and are conservatives when it comes to foreign policy.
Anyone of age who supports the wars on terror should sign up and go. The truth is that all of those serving have the guts and the nerve to put their lives on the line for the country they love. 24 years old and politicking without serving IS CHICKENHAWKISM.
@ripper1776 I totally agree with you!!! Anyone who supports this war, if they are able, SHOULD GO to Iraq!!! I am very liberal and what Bill Maher calls, "a Rationalist". I totally support and still support being in Afghanistan, but Iraq was a huge mistake, like Vietnam and g.w.bush.
He could never wear a Yankee uniform they wouldn't except him. But, the U.S. military is out recruiting and would except him and he makes bull shit excuses. True Chicken Hawk.
yea classic chickenhawk. Yankees and serving in Iraq...hmmm. "I have friends in Iraq!" Another classic often heard by chickenhawk conservatives. Somebody should tar and feather this guy and drop him in the middle of a hot lz in Afghanistan.
seriously, the only thing this kid has ever been hit with has been a cock to his mouth. He prolly think all war is like saving private ryan or forrest gump or some shit. He has no idea what he is campaigning for.
I support the yankees but I don't wear the uniform. does this kid think he could make the yankees? maybe as the jock holder. I'm sure he does wear a yankees uniform...as in the pinstriped PJ variety when he's sucking his thumb and tucking himself into bed at night.
yeh for his comparison to make sense the yankees would have to be an orginization you can volunteer to play for and that yankees die weekly during baseball games. Why d people get to say this garbage on tv without being called on it. The host should have called him on that fucked up analogy.
not to mention the rather severe pay cut....tv has bred a culture of illiteracy. the lowest denominator rules. What qualifies this nitwit to speak for anyone is beyond me.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Randi,
I was a liberal, went to Iraq, and came back a conservative. We needed to go in. The troops have done magnificently even with liberals like you stabbing them in the back the whole time.
If you're advocating for war then you ought to be wearing the uniform, otherwise you have no right to call for other people to put their lives on the line when you would not. It is just discusting to see that most of the people you see on TV supporting the iraq war never served in any actual war. It is just too damn easy to call for sacrifizes as long as it's not you. For once put yourselves in the shoes of a boy who've lost his dad in the war and tell me if the war was worth it to that boy.
the fact is the troops need more people to refresh them. they need more people to enlist and this guy won't fight for something that he suppports. he could fight, he is healthy but he WON'T. he's a talker, not a doer.
I don't believe in sending anyone to fight in a fight that I won't eagerly jump up and fight in myself. if the war is not important enough to go up and sign up for without wasting time than it's not worth fighting at all.
@answerz2no1 That's ridiculous, just because one is in support of a certain cause, does not mean he or she should rearrange their entire life and ditch his or her occupational and/or professional aspirations for said cause. I choose to fight not simply for my brethren in the Peshmerga and 30 million oppressed Kurds, as well as the subjugated Shi'a majority in Iraq, de oppresso liber, but because I enjoy the challenges and the lifestyle running with my boys in the 5SFGA.
"I support the yankees but i don't wear their uniform" what a slippery little shit. I was in college when the iraq war build up was going down. One speech class it was 20-2 in for to against the war (I was one of the 2). The other guy against the war did a speech on why we needed to re-institute the draft. Everyone in that class was for the war, but didn't want to enlist...bunch of hypocritical pussies.
You ever see the Chris Matthews interview with McCain during the college tour? Classic stuff. I can't find the link, but basically Matthews asked everyone who supported the war to stand up. Big response. Then, he asked everyone who would serve to remain standing.
Suddenly, everyone got a case of the "Not me"s. Funny, funny stuff.
24" WTF". you look like your fucken 13 with a fucked hair due,cut that hair and strap up you little bitch.I hate to see these guys coming they make me sick.I'm sorry people but every thing that comes out of there stink holes is a lie.
That is exactly, one hundred percent on the bloody money. Look at the assholes in Bush's Cabinet...all of them were old enough to have fought in Viet Nam...none of them did except Colin Powell. These candy ass, sliver spooned rich little white boys and girls need to get their asses spanked hard then drafted right into the front lines and then we'll see how much they support invading another country so big oil can screw us even further. They are dirt. Republicans. Don't feed them.
As a former Service man and Gulfwar and Iragi war vet...Nothing pisses me off more than seeing these rich and spoiled little brats come on tv and walk around cities telling all the crap about how they support this war. Well let them go and fight it...I will tell you this, as a fellow American serving in the military i supported this war at first because of miss information...Now being on the outside looking in. (CDN) It was a terrible idea. We should just leave...no shame in that at all.
I said fuck the republican's simply because it was BUSH and his group of cronies that led us into this war...They knew that the source of intelligency they got was wrong and they proceed on anyways...
NARRATOR: Concern over global warming has helped boost panel sales 600 percent since 2000, as more people try to do their part to stave off the crisis. But all the solar panels in America produce only two coal plants' worth of electricity, an amount not even close to meeting the power requirements of a major city.
And Obama is trying to kill the oil industry. Hes a fool.
You gotta love the Republicans, all for the war just as long as someone else is doing the fighting and the money to pay for it is coming out of someone else's pocket...
But you can redeem yourself. All you have to do is enlist. Don't be a chickenhawk. Prove your manhood. You must defeat your hang-up about showering with other men.
Lanternjaw Randy Rhodes will be back in NYC courtroom on charges she destroyed a city sidewalk when she fell down skunk drunk and her lanternjaw put a hole in the sidewalk the size of Yankee Stadium.
Typical.. cant come up with intelligent retort so you shout insults. Oriley has taught you well little lamb. Keep on bleating with the rest of the sheeple.
Libs truly do not seem to realize how incredibly foolish they look whenever they play the "chickenhawk" card. Am I to believe that one cannot support, endorse, or comment on the war unless they are active duty Military or have been military in the past? What kind of reasoning is this? Its absurd on its face. Logic and reasoning have never been strong points for Libs.
Ben COULDN"T wear the Yankee's uniform. That is the difference. He COULD wear a military uniform. If he really believes that so much is at stake in Iraq and that Saddam was as bad as Hitler, then he would do what the men in that generation of ww2 did and SERVE. He's a little Rove-oppurtunist-carpetbagger-shill-chickenhawk.

She's soft core.

preemptivestrike20 10 months ago
@preemptivestrike20 I was there, and there was no strategy, and when I was in the Kurdish areas in 2004, before we went, we were told that they had fights with each other, but they liked us. When I actually got there, I found out that nothing could be farther from the truth.
The real winner of this war? Iran. They were held in check by Iraq; now, Iraq is their biggest ally. It's certainly not the Iraqi people.
wvu05 6 months ago
Nobody should enlist for this invasion. We need to stop slaughtering Iraqi civilians and destroying their neighborhoods. We need to leave the fkn oil alone and bring our soldiers back home. We need to use cleaner renewable energy and stop letting these oil tycoons run our gov't and kill our people.

Hes a fool.
