As a spoof of the Become Legendary commercials, the implication is that even in 2020, people in Los Angeles continue to harbor a grudge against anyone who has escaped from New York. This is because they haven't gotten over the 2013 basketball heroics of one particular escapee from New York, Snake Plissken.

And who can blame them for gunning down all east coasters? They were humiliated on their home court.
