  • That takes both skill and patience, of which I have neither. Argh!

  • that drawing must when for one million dollar

  • lol I feel like trying that now!!!!!!!!!! That was CRAZY!!

  • this reminds me of little big planet hahah

  • i siezed up 4 pens in a 90 minute drawing. they still had more than half the ink left.

  • Entertaining !

  • Drawing with a Bic... you've got balls my friend XD Just one mistake and you have to start over!

  • Congratulations, great work. I used to do portraits with a Bic maybe 10 or 15 years ago (yes, I'm old) but then I discovered colour. Looking at your video I feel like coming back to it. I've got a few Bic's around!

  • how close I am to this video:

I have exactly this ballpoint pen. twice.

  • Pen blending is not as hard as most of you take it to be, it's ust very tedious, you feather out your strokes, and the lighter you pull the lighter the line, the harder you push the darker the line, it just takes a crap ton of patience

  • Show off

  • How the hell can someone do a photo-realistic drawing with a bic ballpoint pen? I'm amazed.

  • @LucisFerre1 It's not that mind blowing when you consider he put NINETY HOURS into it.

  • @Sakaretsu I could've started 10 years ago and I wouldn't be close to this.

  • @Tomanistanumerouno Are you an artist? It takes years and years of practice to become a master at something.

  • maaaaaaa gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad

  • I know that girl. I should've known I wasn't the only one she gives that "Give me some cock" look to.

  • anyone can do it with pencil but with pen?

  • If I buy this pen, I'm afraid it will kill itself when I try to doodle bad art.

  • @TheFinalAlice Haha....very good comment. Same here :-)

  • This song is on Little Big Planet!

  • He's not an artist. He's a freaking robot.

  • i'm feeling rather talentless right now.

  • i'm not necessarily calling this fake but i am skeptical as to how he made the background solid black and did the rest too with only one pen.i don't doubt that this was all done in pen but it seems like with all the solid black in this drawing, it would take 2 or 3 pens. that's just my 2 cents

  • @ishouldplayzelda It can be done. I had a friend in school that did this and showed me how and we both drew using these pens. I believe he's not showing a great deal of smudging that happens and NO this isn't one pen being used. You can get a lot of shading with these juicy pens just by getting a lot of ink down and then using your finger and smudging down to white. He might have another technique though. This was 30 years ago I did this. FYI! The art isn't permanent however.

  • @arebella1 I'm not smudging it, doesn't work. It's not like pencil. It dries pretty much instantly

  • WITCHCRAFT! I SAY! WITCHCRAFT!!!

  • i didn't want it to be printed in black and white :(

  • HOW?

  • That is 90 hours which could have otherwise been spent creating their own work. What a waste of initially useful time.

  • @JeffersonDinedAlone A bit jealous, are we?

  • @DaveReyes342 No reason to be. How do you arrive at that false correlation? In 90 hours, you could produce a significant portion of an original work, all of an original work, or several original works.

  • @JeffersonDinedAlone BiC paid the artist and probably bought his drawing how is that a waste of 'initially useful' time? Because its not an original? Go to James' channel for some original works you hastey ignorant fool. Also you claim to practice realism in your home studio? I doubt you even realise what realism is, and if you do and practice it well then I would argue THAT is a waste of time as your living your life through a history book and that your work is irrelevant.

  • fakeeee impossible to shade like that with a pen...

  • @theazn07 It isn't actually. I've done it before. x

  • @theazn07 you can definitely shade like that with a pen, my art teacher showed me how~ and yeah

  • What a great eye this artist has to see all of the shadings and nuances of this painting and to be able to recreate them. All I can get out of a Bic is a crude line drawing or some goofy words in a notebook.

  • thanks, this is amazing! This is actually one of my favorite paintings. I appreciate the info!

  • LIES & Deceit!

  • how did you blend it without there being pen strokes

  • @ktgiggle22 Who says that there are no pen strokes? This is a 240p quality video there is no way you could tell if there were crosshatching or not. But blending can be done before the ink dries and with the oil based ink you have a bit of time to blend since the ink will no absorb into the paper quickly like water based ink and it'll dry slower. I do a lot of pen sketching and you can get quite gentle transitions with just cross hatching if you have decent line quality.

  • @cjhatesu Hi. I'm not cross hatching here. It is entirely done with pen strokes, the strokes are just done close enough to each other to appear as a smooth surface, this is why it takes so long.

The ink in these pens actually dries very very fast, so not possible to blend. If you try you will just get ugly, permanent smudge

  • @ktgiggle22 maybe a q-tip when the ink is still wet

  • @ishouldplayzelda The ink isn't wet like a waterbased ink. It's more like something that would require a solvent to get it to move on paper. Maybe even using isopropyl alcohol. Now you have me interested in wasting my day doing this! :) He'd have to have a heavy paper too so it won't buckle with the amount of pen he's laying down, and if he's using a solvent. No, q-tip would leave strands everywhere.

  • @arebella1 I don't use solvent. not needed. I'm not 'moving ink', just releasing pressure / lightly touching the surface with the ball. But you are correct that the right paper helps. I use 250gsm bleach white card (flat, smooth paper surface important)

  • @ktgiggle22 it just looks blended because the pen strokes are so close together

  • Amazing! I would not have thought this was possible with that kind of pen.

  • I'm literally like "wtf" right now.

  • I cANT BuRIBIT! is it fake?

  • I can't get shading right with like 50 pencils... and this bitch can do it with a single pen?... I give up!

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • LADY GAGA with a pearl earring

  • holy mother of god!!!! How the fuck did you do that!! ;:o

  • Comment removed

  • Brilliant penmanship; excellent work!!

  • Little big planet music!

  • fake, this is impossible with a normal pen

  • Difficulty level: Asian

  • @ReloadedKaarelpoiss The guy isn't Asian.

  • is this a battle between Faber Castel and BiC?

  • there's something fishy about this... it looks like chinese ink rather than a bic pen...

  • I CAN'T EVEN DRAW A MOTHERFUCKING STICKMAN

  • how does he manage to create light shades with a ball point pen?

  • @est101010

very lightly. it is possible with a ball point pen. extremely hard with a felt tipped pen. i can shade with an old one as they get hard and you can turn it on its edge. it's not a pretty as a ball point pen though.

  • LBP

  • Would have he had a pencil okay, but a pen can't draw like this.

  • oh look, a human printer.

  • @MrSottho its still godam nice and he showed the picture so -.- i bet you wish to have his skill.

  • OMG IS SO FAKE!! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!! GODDAMNIT

  • @bestzohan The fact that you can't do it doesn't mean that no one can do it. I saw a guy make a realistic portrait of someone using paint and two paintbrushes on a 150x150cm canva in less that 5 minutes so I believe everything is possible when we come to art x).

  • @Necr0verdose

    are you serious?

  • @bestzohan Yes I am, I saw it in front of my eyes, it was an old french man. He gone several times to perform his art at a french show called "Le plus grand cabaret du monde". Once, I even remember seeing him making a portrait as large and realistic but upside down! At first I couldn't figure out what he was drawing but when he turned the canva I couldn't believe my eyes xD! I was in the room, within the time of the Happy Potter Anthem, he painted a portrait of Daniel Radcliffe

  • @bestzohan And even one time, he painted Charlie Chaplin... while he was behing the canva, he had his hands through it and painted him blind style x'D

  • @Necr0verdose Sie sind schön

  • @Necr0verdose Jean-Pierre Blanchard is his name

  • wow.. can imagine the hours of practice it must've taken to come to this... fantastic

  • IMPOSSIBRUU!

  • @Fredbass ALIENS...

  • @psychedelicccc hahahahhaha All the asians?

  • @Fredbass i see what u did there

  • i hate myself for being born w/o this talent

  • I don't understand the dislikes ... just haters ! this is great job !

  • that is a lie. the have stop motion and pen cant draw like that! its blue for god sakes!

  • if you watch this video backwards, its a guy with a rubberpen deleting an amazing pictures

  • holy fucking hell!!!

  • i wish i could do something like that, gorgeous!!

  • wih digital images, talents like this are being killed. i feel guilty too, i study image processing...

  • @8Maik yes, but digital images can be reproduced over and over making their intrinsic value less than a one off piece that can never be reproduced. Also the finish you get from paint, ink, pencil on quality paper is SO much better that what you can ever get out of a printer....

  • @jamesMylne yes i know, i'm not saying digital images are bettere, but the opposite. i'm saying that for digital image's fault, real talent is killed.

  • -_______-

  • how the fuck do you shade like that with a pen! amazingggggg

  • @KPQualityNuts I asked myself the same thing after a few seconds of playing the video.

  • Astonishing!

  • best drawing i've ever seen!!

  • you astonishing human being

  • the artist is a master. no matter what drawing medium

  • Well.... That's one way to save black ink for the Desk Jet.

  • 'Girl With A Pearl Earring' has been a favorite painting for years, and explains who posed for the more famous Mona Lisa, which is a long story for another post. But it is worth looking up if you are curious. The original painting is a masterpiece that exceeds the brilliance of Mona Lisa herself, or is it really her younger self?

  • omg waooooooooooooo

  • oh my gosh have to try this one day

  • who is that god of a man

  • That's a lot of ink.

  • Just shows that paint is SHIT!

  • OH MY GOD HAAHAHA!

  • visit to "Maximiliano Ortega,arte"

  • I'd rather use a printer!! haha

    Great job!!!

  • NO WAY

  • WHAT THE FUCK

  • dont know how he gets that shading with a ball point pen

  • The music reminds me of Little Big Planet xD

  • @AnGangseh IDEM ahahhahaha do you know what's the song's name?

  • jesusssssssss!!!!!!

  • I love bic pen drawings! The tones and contrast you can get from a pen will always amaze me. My uncles were amazing at sketching and drawing with them, weird thing is they learned these techniques in prison. Ha ha!!

  • WITCHCRAFT

  • this cant be real..it can be with a pencil but a pen??

  • he used all the ink. OMG!

  • very impressive!!!!!!

  • I call BS

  • If I learned how to shade like that with a normal pen, I'd feel like such a Beast.

  • It's fake... It's impossible to give such shades with a normal pen

  • @TheRaven0us That's why there's many talented artists doing it, right? They all fake videos right? I hope you are just trolling.

  • @TheRaven0us Not if its oil based.

  • @TheRaven0us You're just an art retard

  • amazing

  • Comment removed

  • nice choice of painting, very famous one too

  • ...yeah right.

  • bravo

  • i can draw this with my penis.

  • waw... O_O

  • Human Printer :D

  • James is the robot from iRobot

  • FAKE

  • @potkol1 I sense some jealousy

  • @Laraischibi I don't think it's jealousy, it's being reasonable. It's just impossible to make such shades with that kind of pen speaking from purely technical point of view.

  • @marczella4 If you know what you are doing and know your tools then it is - we aren't talking about a amateur

  • colors are completely wrong!!1

  • how the hell do you do the shading?

  • @tharwpoop with photoshop, of course

  • @MrMichelangelo3 lol that's right how some people can be so retarded to bealive that this was made whit a pen , corel paintings are cool

  • @3600km I Don't know. It's clearly a fake. It's just publicity.

  • @MrMichelangelo3 It's interesting how you claim It's clearly a fake yet you provide no evidence to suggest this

    other than your opinion

  • @tharwpoop letting up on the pressure and barely touching the paper with it.

  • I really dont doubt this... Bics are some high quality shit for being so cheap... You would be surprised..

  • The pen company should use this as an advertisement

  • how does the ink go to places where the pen doesn't even go?? computer trick or weird speeding up where the hand looks slow while several movements are cut out? to me it looks fake. I wish I'm wrong though, so please post a long video without speeding it up. Please

  • sure you killed the pen but what a way to go!!

  • Dayummmmmmm talented

  • who needs a printer? we have this guy!

  • plz let us know if its fake

  • @konkod123 I know for a fact its not fake (seen him draw live before an exhibition!!! its amazing and looks even better in real life!

  • LBP SONG!

  • IT LOOKS LIKE MAGIK ALMOST FAKE!!! TO GOOD TO BE TRUE.

  • amazing

  • The Noveltones! LBP ftw!

  • LBP

  • otttttimo

  • that painting is an overrated piece of garbage, i liked his remake though

  • This should be a commercial for that pen....

oh wait, I think it is! lol

  • Shading in the background musta been a bitch

  • It took him 90 seconds. I have an uncle who can do it in 30. Show off.

  • LOVIN the elevator music :) amazing portrait bro

  • Sick :O

  • little big planet music doesnt help, but that's so AMZMIANG i can't spell amazing correctly

  • holy shit, how in the blood stained protestant hell did you do that!?!?!?!?!?

  • That is so... AWESOME!

  • i would pass out by the smell of the ink

  • My pens always glob ink when I am drawing... and then it's ruined.

  • @crazychris0003 you need a bic my friend

  • I love how at the end of the video, there is no ink left in the pen

  • People think the real thing evolved.

  • It doesn't surprise me that people are capable of this...I just can't believe he managed to pull it off with a single pen! Great work though.

  • Little Big Planet?

  • where did you learnt this tecnique?its amaizing!!

how much time did you spend on it?

  • If I had his skills I`d go dancing around the world, probably not having the time to draw anything, because I`d be so happy to be able to draw like this << I now that doesn`t make sense.... whatever, still a truly amazing drawing

  • i like how that whole thing took up all the ink in the pen.
