Conor Oberst is the biggest self concieted person in music. But he can afford to be because he put out over 3 albums before graduating high school. Lifted he dropped out of college because he toured to much.
you guys that say you like his old shit more, but then mention im wide awake dont know wtf youre talkin about. from the every day and every night ep and onwards has been his transition into primarily folk music. his "old shit" is anything before that if you wanna make a clear distinction. im wide awake is his best album, and like in the top ten albums ever if you ask me. anything from that EP and on is my fave shit. his old stuff is good, but not as good. however fevers and mirrors aint too hot
i'm gonna have to disagree. fevers and mirrors is a lot better then people give it credit for. the lyrics are as good as anything. look at the song arienette. those lyrics are amazing, the calender hung itself, sunrise, sunset. that album is incredible. but really, has he ever done anything that wasn't incredible?
Anyways, I must say I love Noise Floor, and I love Conor's youthful stuff. But I also love Cassadaga and find it to be way different from all his other stuff... but then again everything is different from everyhing else.
Luckily Conor still hasnt sold out, but his music is deteriorating. Fevers and Mirrors is great, Digital Ash and Im Wide Awake are good, Lifted Is wicked, but my personal fave is the Neva Dinova/Bright Eyes Split--One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels (SERIOUSLY GET IT! DOWNLOAD IT!)

noise floor is a great album. a heard somthing about how amy in the white coat and happy birthday to me (feb 15)were written when he was a freshman in highschool.maybe true, maybe not. but theres no talking shit about this guy.
cassadaga is a brilliant album...if you despise it... you try and put 12 instruments together...have everyone play in sync...make it sound good...and write amazing lyrics to go with it.
I agree. If you want to learn more about the history of Bright Eyes I suggest buying the DVD-Spend an Evening with Saddle Creek. Its a doco but it has some good music and Son, Ambulance, Sorry about Dresden, Azure Ray, Bright Eyes some wicked Nebraskan bands.
considering your partiality for cassadega, i'm going to go ahead and believe you to be a mongoloid fuck. cassadega is nothing compared to his earlier works. bright eyes loses their staying power as you listen to the discog in chronological order. if you can't see how conor's "evolution" as an artist is him losing what garnered his fan base, then there isn't any hope for you ever truly appreciate what he brought to the table.

Cassadaga does suck for the most part. Four Winds gets old after two plays. Hot Knives, Middle Man, Cleanse Song, aren't that great. The only one that I love is Brakeman.

Conor Oberst is the biggest self concieted person in music. But he can afford to be because he put out over 3 albums before graduating high school. Lifted he dropped out of college because he toured to much.

you guys that say you like his old shit more, but then mention im wide awake dont know wtf youre talkin about. from the every day and every night ep and onwards has been his transition into primarily folk music. his "old shit" is anything before that if you wanna make a clear distinction. im wide awake is his best album, and like in the top ten albums ever if you ask me. anything from that EP and on is my fave shit. his old stuff is good, but not as good. however fevers and mirrors aint too hot

i'm gonna have to disagree. fevers and mirrors is a lot better then people give it credit for. the lyrics are as good as anything. look at the song arienette. those lyrics are amazing, the calender hung itself, sunrise, sunset. that album is incredible. but really, has he ever done anything that wasn't incredible?

Anyways, I must say I love Noise Floor, and I love Conor's youthful stuff. But I also love Cassadaga and find it to be way different from all his other stuff... but then again everything is different from everyhing else.

Luckily Conor still hasnt sold out, but his music is deteriorating. Fevers and Mirrors is great, Digital Ash and Im Wide Awake are good, Lifted Is wicked, but my personal fave is the Neva Dinova/Bright Eyes Split--One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels (SERIOUSLY GET IT! DOWNLOAD IT!)

i really think that if you believe that his music is deteriorating then you don't know music. i'm sorry, i'm not trying to insult everyone, but his musicianship gets better with everything he puts out. he is evolving as any real artist should, therefore his stuff is changing, but it is completely inaccurate to say it is getting worse. it continues to get better.

noise floor is a great album. a heard somthing about how amy in the white coat and happy birthday to me (feb 15)were written when he was a freshman in highschool.maybe true, maybe not. but theres no talking shit about this guy.
cassadaga is a brilliant album...if you despise it... you try and put 12 instruments together...have everyone play in sync...make it sound good...and write amazing lyrics to go with it.

I agree. If you want to learn more about the history of Bright Eyes I suggest buying the DVD-Spend an Evening with Saddle Creek. Its a doco but it has some good music and Son, Ambulance, Sorry about Dresden, Azure Ray, Bright Eyes some wicked Nebraskan bands.

considering your partiality for cassadega, i'm going to go ahead and believe you to be a mongoloid fuck. cassadega is nothing compared to his earlier works. bright eyes loses their staying power as you listen to the discog in chronological order. if you can't see how conor's "evolution" as an artist is him losing what garnered his fan base, then there isn't any hope for you ever truly appreciate what he brought to the table.

Cassadaga does suck for the most part. Four Winds gets old after two plays. Hot Knives, Middle Man, Cleanse Song, aren't that great. The only one that I love is Brakeman.
