I heard this song constantly on the radio when I was a kid, I also named it "the coward's song" and I thought if any guy ever called with a similar proposition I'ld tell him to get lost. My mom used to play this song when I was a kid. I was visiting my folks in Phoenix in September and it was on the radio. I tried to remember the name of the band and I kept coming up with English John. Could not find it on the internet and my mom ironically could not help.
