What happened to this type of music, it was the best, don't get me wrong i like nowadays stuff but this was really about the music and not the image...16 years old and adore old music.
I don't understand so many people saying what they thought the lyrics say, sounds dumb, silly, not important, instead of appreciate such a beautiful, tender, beautiful, and deep song.
@633squadrongoodwin well... ok, ok, yes, maybe I was a little angry with some silly comments, but... that's the idea too, right? make a comment about some comments, doesn't it? for example: "... I always thought the words were "I'm not talking about Bolivian"....ain't no way they say "moving in.." ¿¿¿??? this beautiful song only deserves: thumbs up!!! what do you think?
I saw another lyric version which contained the following: "...there's a warm wind blowing, the stars are out, and I'd really love to see you tonight." You got it right -- it's "there's a warm wind blowing the stars around, and I'd really love to see you tonight." There is something so romantic about those few words. Thanks for posting :)
Great song. But, I'm still not convinced that the lyrics are "there's a warm wind blowin', the stars are out". I'm old enough to remember when this song came out and still can't tell what he says...lol.
When I heard this is in circa '76, I thought it was sorta silly, but now I love this song....only goes to show you how much you should appreciate the music from a bygone era....
wow... this song reminds me how I felt when I went out with my high school sweetheart after 4 years of being apart and getting together when I came home on leave from my base in England... Thanks to my sister Kim for getting me to call her!! (we got married 4 months later) Been married now for 31 years.... :)
Whatever happened to the days when music was like this (?): sincere and pleasing to the ears. Today's music SERIOUSLY sucks! I wish the world was still listening to rock and roll, folk rock and soft rock. THAT is real music.
I heard this song constantly on the radio when I was a kid, I also named it "the coward's song" and I thought if any guy ever called with a similar proposition I'ld tell him to get lost. I also thought it was the apex of corporate fluff. I still think my original view of this song was right on target. still that I appreciate that cj29360 took the time to put the lyrics up on U-tube. As a kid in the 70's & 80's the music seemed like such a waste land. Garage punk became my thing.
Whenever I hear a quality song like this and then along comes some modern garbage on Radio Aire or Capital, I take comfort from the idea that today's "stars" wouldn't have been allowed anywhere near a microphone, let alone a studio, back in the seventies.
@MoreThanYouExpected I'm with you. How can the wind blow the stars around??? When I seen what you wrote I had to re-play the song to see what you meant. LOL I'll continue to sing it my (and your) way since I only sing in the shower and no one hears me anyway, LOL
@VetSupporter That is a good question. Maybe it's a reference to how the stars appear to be moving around at night as the earth rotates (i.e. as the night progresses). I wonder what Parker McGee had going through his head when he wrote that line.
@PacRimJim You're an island from the insane nature of people who worship the ongoing, eternal, settle-for-less era of empty crap music of today. I've traveled the almost empty seas and it's always nice to run into one occasionally.
Love this song, music now a days can't compare to good songs like this. Bring back real music! This song is about emotions and songs now a days are mostly about sex

My mom used to play this song when I was a kid. I was visiting my folks in Phoenix in September and it was on the radio. I tried to remember the name of the band and I kept coming up with English John. Could not find it on the internet and my mom ironically could not help. Been humming the tune without lyrics and it has been really pissing me off since I got back to the UK. By chance, I was watching the film, The Long Kiss Good Bye and it was on the car radio. Typed in the lyrics. Here it is.
I'm not talking about "movin in". Finally after all these years I know what the line says :-) always sounded like my linnen or maligning Ha ha. thnaks guys. Great song
@PrinceOfLillies yeah,I remember when it came out. Some folks thought it was the livin' in. I went with movin in because nothing anyone else could come up made any sense. But they wrote ARTICLES about this....
