Woo Hoo! I just did a cursory search and found our video! What a great, fun day for a great cause. Male nurses currently account for 5.4% of the entire nursing profession. Hopefully with the advent of this calender more men will be attracted to a great career!

Last night, I was helping another RN on the unit with a high school student coming out of surgery for a broken wrist and the kid wouldnt let me near them. "I dont want HIM touching me!" Its because he automatically thought I was gay because I was a male nurse. What are they teaching kids nowadays about my profession in this day and age? Its sad that people still have this stereotype.

these men have courage to go against what society deems acceptable. to go into a profession that requires such a tremendous amount of knowledge and compassion is never easy. there is a philosophical difference between medicine and nursing and it is people like these (and all nurses) who will never abandon the idea of caring and compassion. that there are people behind the suffering, not just a disease. who else will advocate for us and our families when we are alone and scared? thanks nurses.
