Lisa, I cannot thank you enough for writing this song and performing it for us. You are giving people an example of what people felt during a terrible time in our country's history. In your song you have illustrated to people by your giving an example of how we all felt in those troubled times. Thank you again for this song.
@68059399 Hi Jim, sorry it has taken song long to get back, busy busy. Jim send me your e-mail and I will send the lyrics and chords to you. Have a wonderful night! Lisa - A few years ago I was in Alaska wearing my 11th Armored Cav Regiment cap from Vietnam when a person turned away from me with disdain. I was with a "civilian" who had heard about our treatment but never seen it. I ignored it but it deeply disturbed by friend. It hurt him worse than me since I had seen it before but I wonder when it will end. Maybe only the last of us pass. I hope Lee never had to experience what I saw in Alaska.
@jimtraner Hi Jim, thank you again for sharing. If I was with you I am most positive I would have felt like your friend. I am very sorry that people are like they are but they need the pray. Jim I belive Lee had a tough time and he is in heaven know and he has peace know. Jim have a wonderful night! Lisa
Hi @Shiatar12, yes this song was written for a very special friend of mine Lee (An a American soldier). You comment was good and can be looked at in another view. All those who served, suffer and died could tell me the things I and many don't even know that went on good and bad. And I like two think that in very special unheard of moment the soldiers came together and understood each other for that brief second. Thank you for sharing and to all the men who lost there lives during that war. Lisa
@popwolf10 Hi popwolf10, you are very welcome, makes my heart sad and happy knowing the power of a gift to give back to folks like yourself and make life a little better. You belong in Gitmo you unpatriotic son of a bitch. Every life in Vietnam was sacrificed for the noble cause of keeping a political ideology on one side of a jungle. People make DIVIDENDS off of Halliburton stock for Christs' sake, and here you are bitching about a beautiful song about some boy giving his life to defend a hill from a gook.
I hope the authorities see this and detain you. They should look for the dirty scumbag with dreadlocks and no shoes!
I still don't see your point. All the U.S. did was lose a war, and then spread agent orange because they're poor sports. Honestly communism isn't a bad thing you damn capitalist bastard. I think democracy is just a way to cover up your evil capitalist ways, honestly whats the deal for In god we trust printed on American currency; isnt that an oxymoron ?
Thank you Lisa. I missed that war, but I've always understood the price our soldiers paid. It's songs like this that are so good for the younger kids today if they will listen to them. I know my kids understand as much as they can.

Your compositions are very touching and your voice truly marvelous! I hope and think that you will go just as far as you wish in the musical world. God Bless you!
What a wonderful tribute! I was a pilot in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia 1969-1972. You captured the essence of the feelings all of us share who who served in that far away land. We all left part of ourselves behind. I am going back in March with my youngest daughter to try to bring some closure to this open wound. Thanks for the beautiful song.
Hi 137468, thank you for sharing this heart felt comment to me, as a writer and to be able to give the gift back to folks like you is tremendous thing. Your voice makes me think of classic country women (like Loretta Lynn, June Carter-not tone but conviction) and your style reminds me some of the old stories told in folk/blue grass songs. My dad who's a vet would play them all the time.
I liked the superman in the hallway, for the acoustics, right?
Hi Oekomaeilk, thank you for the heart felt words. Lee is in heaven know, but if I know Lee he is still checking in. Take care and thank you again Lisa.
This song is one that touchs my heart. The best i can say is...well..spend time at a local VA hospital, and gal, your song would fit. You nailed it. Nuff said.
Hi Jim, thank you for the wonderful comment. I am glad it touches your heart, such a great thing. My partner and I have played at Lyons VA hospital, and they love it so much. It is a very emotional experience that can be very hard for me at times we love then and we thank all of them for serving our country. Thank you Jim Lisa.

Lisa, what a perfect song and a perfect tribute to Lee. My heart broke yesterday when you sang this at his memorial service - and even though Lee and I were always at odds- you captured his spirit of being a wounded warrier who always helped his fellow vets. Thanks for this - Mich
Hi Michgeoff, you touched my heart with your wonderful comment. Lee was very special to many people,I am very lucky and proud to have know him. I believe now he is at peace. Thank you again friend for sharing your feelings.

Hi BC, thank you very much for your wonderful comment. It is great to know I got a true fan. BC thank you for your touching comment about the boys thanks for sharing that Lisa.
I'm one of those who served in Viet Nam. My best friend died over there. ( beautiful song ) I like the way the song is written/sang/played. You did it well ! To everyone who is fighting illness on here "" God bless "" you all. Cliff
Hi Cliff, thank you for your beautiful comment you touch my heart. My prayers to you and your best friends family, I thank you and him for serving this country Lisa. Take care.
Hi J.C.B.,thank you very much for the heart felt message, it means so much to me to know that your heart was moved. Thank you very much for serving our country. NEVER FORGOTTEN IN MY HEART LISA.
Lee I also have cancer, PTSD and a few other things caused by Agent orange. Keep fighting the cancer think of it as another hill to take and don't give up.
My name is Lee (from the song). Actually, the song does mention some of those things that you asked about. I've been working at the V.A. at Lyons, N.J. for about 12 years. I've been battling P.T.S.D. for many years, and now, since Lisa wrote her beautiful song, I have been diagnosed with lung cancer as a result of contact with Agent Orange in Vietnam. My greatest joy, my activities that give my life a sense of being worthwhile is my work with my fellow Veterans. It truly is a work of joy.
Thanks for responding. Sorry to hear about your illness. I've done a good deal of reseach on PTSD and how it effects the family. I was wondering how your situation may have effected your spouse and children, if applicable.
Thank you for your words putting voice to the feelings and emotions many can't express. Lee B. is my cousin. In my eyes and for many reasons I have always seen Lee as a man of quiet strength, courage, conviction -- A HERO.
Thanks again for your words and your beautiful voice that carries them.
Hi Chrissy, your words touched my heart very much thank you very much.I read your you tube page and you sound like a great person. Please tell your cousin thank you for serving our country. I will say a pray for your cousin tonight and for all to return home safely. Thank you again Chrissy Lisa.
this song is so beautiful, it truely touched my heart. i have a cousin over in the war. it makes me feel he is safe. thank you ever so much for that.<3
Thank youLisa, for letting us hear a song that strikes home so accurately and beautifuly.Your sweet and lovely voice makes a powerful tool to tell a story that "hurts when I breath".Thanks again for all you do to help. You are beautiful.
Thank you Lee, thank you for being the fabulous person you are, and to all the years you have committed to the V.A., helping the boys you are a true angel. Peace my friend you will always be in my heart Lisa.

Lee I also have cancer, PTSD and a few other things caused by Agent orange. Keep fighting the cancer think of it as another hill to take and don't give up.

How is the person that this song was written about doing now? No mention of any family or his life after Vietnam.

Lisa,
Thank you for your words putting voice to the feelings and emotions many can't express. Lee B. is my cousin. In my eyes and for many reasons I have always seen Lee as a man of quiet strength, courage, conviction -- A HERO.
Thanks again for your words and your beautiful voice that carries them.
