Couldnt JJ just say the black hole effect caused the 1701 from JJ's first moie to have extensive hull and structural damage so it had to undergo refit and some design improvements, and the result is this? In a movie where they TIME TRAVEL and TRANSPORT TO SHIPS AT WARP cant we just have a small backstory to excuse a design change? Who would question it? RED MATTER people? If thats ok then change the ship, we wont care!!!
As far as quality goes, while not quite ready for Prime Time or the big screen, this is much more professional looking than most of the stuff out there.
As far as the design goes... AMAZING!! Far more accurate, modern, and "realistic" than the POS that was used in the 2009 movie. This design captures the spirit of the original design (including the refit) but modernizes the look for the 21st Century.

I never got too emotional over the new Enterprise exterior, If i were to critique it though, I would certainly say that the nacelles should be streamlined and the curvature of the pylons should be corrected. The nacelles and the pylons look too organic compared to the more traditonal lines of the rest of the ship. This model blends elements of all the 23rd century Big E's together nicely imho.
This is a very tasteful blend of several versions of the original Enterprise design. I see elements from the new version by J.J., the original design by Matt Jeffries, and the original film refit. Beautiful from every angle.
I'm already working on a 3D film right now, it's called "Second Empire", a Dalek stoy by a talented 3D guru called Mechmaster, the first two episodes were uploaded here by whitepagan, who started the project, I only joined at the back end of the second episode
I'm usually pretty cynical and sarcastic about everything because let's face it, I'm an asshole... but this was a pretty good vid on an awesome take on the NCC-1701. Grear job.
@PhoenixArisen333 To me the best ever ship in all the Star Trek Movies and Television Series new and old generation has always been the NCC-1701. Especially the one from the First Motion Picture. That was so beautiful.
Blam! That Connie is looking tight. It's all in the how the nacelles & struts turn out, and you put it together perfectly..

I like it. Looks like a mix between the 1966-1969 Enterprise, the 1979-1984 Enterprise, and the 2009 Enterprise.

Come on... so long as the series lasts, you know it'll blow up eventually;)

I like this. It's worlds above this new fangled enterprise

I have to agree with you. It is a far better, more faithful representation of Kirk's Enterprise than that horrid thing in Jar Jar Abrams' crap fest!

you sure suck at lighting. the nacells are blue and so is the deflector dish.
